Chapter 10

  • Zoey p.o.v
  • "So what about you? How have you been these past couple of years?" Camilla inquired, she sipped her wine, staring at me with interest.
  • It's been two hours since I practically dragged her out of Marco's office and have been sitting in this very expensive restaurant. Where the food and drinks here are ridiculously expensive.
  • I know I used her to get out of that hellhole, but why not?
  • "I've been alright..." I dragged out not really knowing what to say. "I mean the struggles were there but I'm here now, so it's worth it." I concluded, not talking much about my life because seriously there was nothing much to say.
  • I shrugged internally.
  • "Hmmm, no boyfriend issue or just a bad hair day?" She probed, and I was even curious about my own life. Strange, right?
  • "Yeah? Boyfriend issue.... There is none since I don't have one, but maybe I should have one now. But there was this time in college, and this guy showed interest in me. At that time, I was ready to give another guy a chance, and I thought he was going to ask me out or something." I paused, thinking backwards. I find everything strange and suspicious.
  • "He was close to asking me out, but he didn't. He didn't even look my way anymore and the next thing I know, he got transferred to another school. It all happened so quickly I didn't have a clear understanding of it." I shrugged and sipped my juice, that's what I can afford. But Camilla had red wine.
  • But I must confess, the food here is really good, like super good. Maybe that's why it is so expensive.
  • "Oh well, such an encounter is strange." Camilla,, imputed.
  • "I know right, and that's like the first guy of all the guys I know was interested in me, that has gotten close to asking me out and then BOOM! He left abruptly."
  • "That must have hurt you a lot, but I'm sure someone is just around the corner waiting for you." Camilla sighed with pity, while I shrugged.
  • "What's more strange right now, is that guy over there who has been staring at us." I nodded in the direction of the guy, he gave off a dangerous and scary vibe.
  • He was dressed in all black, in a typical bad boy way. He is handsome but has this rough and brutal look on his face. He faced away when he saw me staring and allowing me to see the black airpod in his ear.
  • "Oh, that's my bodyguard," Camilla said, bringing my attention back to her.
  • A what? Wow! That is awesome. Imagine having someone to watch your back all the time. It's crazy and creepy, but I like it.
  • "Considering my family background, it would be weird and dangerous if I didn't have a bodyguard." She explained further. "I'm so sorry if that bothers you." She apologized.
  • "It's alright, it doesn't bother me at all." I assured her. She beamed.
  • "I've been meaning to ask, why don't you just get back with Marco." Her question caught me off guard, that was totally not on the list.
  • I didn't want to give an answer to that, but why would I want to go back to the same guy that dumped me?
  • "Why would I? Or am I supposed to?" I didn't mean to sound harsh but her question kind of tipped me off. I mean, if anyone wants to come back, it should be him trying and not me.
  • "I don't know, I just felt like you guys are meant to be. When I found out you guys broke up, I was hurt. Not just me, my mom, my aunties and my siblings, including Luciano," Camilla said sadly.
  • Her words shook me, I didn't realize how attached we'd been over the years until the break up. I thought I was the only one hurt. At some point, I even thought that Marco's family supported our break up because I wasn't up to their standards.
  • "I appreciate your concern, Camilla, but we can't be together, at least not. We've moved on with our lives, and you shouldn't be supporting our relationship. That won't be fair to Marco's wife."
  • "Wife? What wife? Where did you get that from?" She looked stunned. I frowned, confused.
  • "I just.... He told us that he bought the company for his wife so that means he was married, right?" I stuttered, and wondered if I had said anything wrong.
  • But before either Camilla or myself could finish our conversation, the door to the restaurant burst open. Luciano entered, his eyes roaming the place until they found us. A smile broke out on his face, he made his way to us, stopping between us.
  • "Hey! Sis inlaw." Luciano said, smiling at me. My brows furrowed and my eyes narrowed at him. What the hell!
  • "Hi!" I reluctantly responded, still frowning. What is wrong with these people. One was just telling me to come back with Marco, and the other one calling me sis-in-law? Why?
  • Is Marco actually married? Or not.
  • "Marco needs you back at the office." He informed me, picking my bag up.
  • "But..."
  • "It's alright Zoey, you should go. I'll be fine, my bodyguard is here too." Camilla cut me off. I stared at her for a moment before nodding.
  • I stood up and hugged her before following behind Luciano, who was helping me carry my bag.
  • Author p.o.v
  • Marco paced back and forth his office, impatiently waiting for Zoey to come back. He released a groan. In the past two hours of her absence he almost lost his mind.
  • Always thinking about her, what she was talking about to Camilla. That took her too long to come back and if the environment she was in was safe enough.
  • Last time he called Luciano asking where they were, Luciano told him that they were closed. But it was fifteen minutes now and Marco was close to marching his way out to find them.
  • Just as he picked up his phone to call Luciano and demand where they were, the door to his office opened, revealing the most gorgeous woman in his eyes. There are millions of women in the world, but only this woman can bring him to his knees.
  • His breath hitched as he watched her catwalk inside the office. However, she completely ignored his existence and went to her desk. Marco tore his gaze back to Luciano, who had a grin on his face as he saw his brother so in love.
  • "You can leave now." He ordered, Luciano simply nodded and made a salute before turning to Zoey.
  • "Bye sis in law." Luciano directed to Zoey, who only gave him a strange look.
  • Luciano turned to his brother and said,
  • "Please make it quick, we need her back. Especially mom." He quickly disappeared from the room before either of them could react to what he had just said.
  • "Come here." Marco spoke, breaking the silence in the room. Zoey's head snapped upwards. She reluctantly stood up and walked over to Marco, who was leaning on his desk.
  • Immediately, Zoey came within hand's reach, Marco wrapped his arms around her, locking her to himself.
  • "I missed you." He sighed, squeezing her tightly to himself, as if she would disappear if he didn't. Although Zoey loved being in his arms, she knew her boundaries and that involved not getting close with any married man.
  • She tried squirming her way from Marco,. It only made him hold more tightly.
  • "We shouldn't be doing this." Zoey tried words since she couldn't struggle out.
  • "Why? You are mine." Marco answered, digging his nose into her neck. Seriously addicted to her scent, he placed a ghostly kiss on the nape of her neck.
  • She shuddered in delight, a hot shiver spread over her lower body. Knowing if she didn't get away from Marco, they might do something they both would regret. She pushed Marco off her with all her might. The sudden movement caught Marco off guard. He stumbled back to the desk, while Zoey created distance between them.
  • "We shouldn't be doing this, it's unfair to your wife." Her breathing came in pants, her heart was still beating rapidly like it would burst out any minute.
  • "You are my fucking wife, and I can do what I want with you." Marco declared, making his way back to Zoey, but she jumped out of his way.
  • Marco groans irritated.
  • "First of all, I was talking about the person you bought the company for. And secondly, I don't remember getting married to anyone." She was close to losing her sanity, what was actually going on.
  • She was sure that something was going between the three siblings that she could not figure out. First it was Camilla advising her to get back with Marco, as if that wasn't enough. Luciano called her sis-in-law.
  • And now this? Marco claims her to be his wife. It's clear that the whole family is crazy.
  • "I bought the company for my wife, and that is you and only you. You are the only wife I have, so stop saying otherwise, and don't fucking deny me, ever again." With that, he picked her up, wrapped her legs around him and went to his desk where he dropped her.
  • He stood between her open legs, clashed his lips on her with a fervent kiss.
