Chapter 6 Another Mystery

  • Amirah
  • Amirah rushed downstairs. She found her mother and father sitting at the dining table,
  • “Oh sweetie, there you are. We were worried you were not coming down,”
  • “No, I took a long shower.” Amirah sat down and dished up for herself. The conversation around the table was light and flowed normally. They spoke about her resuming her training, her father’s schedule and her mother’s schedule, maybe taking a vacation.
  • “Mom, dad, what happens to her mate's mark once she is rejected and she accepts the rejection?”
  • “It disappears, why are you asking this sweetie?” asked her mom. Amirah remained quiet, not sure how to tell her parents.
  • “And is it normal for it to not disappear?” she asked instead of answering her mother.
  • “No, it is not normal. If both parties have rejected each other the mark should disappear and the bond between them snaps and fizzles away. Maybe some feelings may stay for one party but not always. Honey, do you have something to tell us?” asked her father.
  • “Well, Antonio’s mark is still there,” she replied, flipping her long hair off her shoulder and revealing the mark.
  • “Oh my Goddess, why does it look so new?” asked her mom. Amirah shrugged her shoulders.
  • “I don’t know,”
  • “We need to inform the Alpha about this,” said her mom.
  • “Oh mom, really, do we have too?”
  • “Yes, we do. Secrets are very bad things. You are a victim of a secret. Plus, you are fated mates with our future Alpha, he deserves to know,” replied her mom.
  • “But mom,”
  • “No, no buts young lady,”
  • “Bridget, at least let the poor child eat her dinner, and rest for the day. As you pointed out, her day was very overwhelming for her,” said her father.
  • “I understand, but first thing tomorrow morning, we are going to the packhouse,” Amirah chuckled and her father sighed, exasperated by his wife. They finished dinner and Amirah helped do the dishes. She went to her room to sleep but texted the twins and Elijah. She got in bed and immediately fell asleep.
  • The following morning her phone rang, waking her up. Across the screen was Elijah’s name. Amirah got up and answered it,
  • “Hello,”
  • “Hey, Mira, did I wake you up?”
  • “Yes, but it's fine. What’s up?”
  • “Well, I was wondering if you would like to hang out today?”
  • “Actually, I am going to be there after breakfast. We have something to discuss,”
  • “Oh, we have not mated yet and I’m already getting the ‘we need to talk’ speech,” teased Elijah.
  • “Hahahahaha, no it’s not you. It’s me,” Amirah hit the palm of her hand against her forehead.
  • “Oh wow, now I get the ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ wow. This must be some kind of record. Are you planning to reject me?”
  • “What? Eli, no, I would never. Gosh, I didn’t want this to be the first time I do this but here it goes. Elijah White I have been madly in love with you for years and I will always love you,”
  • “I have loved you forever too and I will always love you. I am so glad you are my fated mate. I always had my suspicions but now knowing it to be true feels amazing,” he replied. Amirah smiled widely. Elijah was such a soft heart and very kind. She was lucky to have him as a mate.
  • “Okay I need to get up and get ready, talk when I get there,”
  • “Okay bye my love, my princess. I am so glad we don’t have to deal with Antonio anymore.” The line died and Amirah stayed frozen in bed looking down at her phone. Why did Elijah’s words evoke such a reaction from her? She felt truly hurt by his words. Maybe they just drove home the fact that she may never see Antonio again. Amirah felt like crying or howling out her pain. She was not sure what was happening to her and why she felt like this. She disliked him and did not want him as a mate.
  • “Now why are you so distorted at the reality of never seeing him again,” questioned Dione.
  • “It’s too early in the morning for all this,” she replied. Amirah got up and bathed. She finished wearing a summer dress and her favorite sandals. She left her hair down, to hide Antonio’s mark.
  • “Morning mom, dad,” she greeted her parents as she entered the kitchen for breakfast.
  • “Morning sweetie, you seem better this morning,” said her mom. Amirah just shrugged her shoulders, she wanted to talk to Elijah first before she announced her relationship with him.
  • “Bridget, leave the child alone. Morning honey, I am glad you are okay this morning.” Amirah grinned at her father and her mother just rolled her eyes at them. Amirah was a true daddy’s girl. Her mother served them breakfast and for a moment everything seemed back to normal. After breakfast, she helped clear the table and she did the dishes.
  • “Mira, if you are still going to the pack house we are leaving now. I have to drop off your mom before I go for my shift,” said her father. Her mother was the head housekeeper at the pack house and her father was a warrior and had patrol shifts.
  • “I’m done. I’d like a left please,” she replied. They all left and her father drove them to the pack house. When they got to the pack house her father hugged and kissed her on the forehead,
  • “Stay out of trouble.” Amirah chuckled,
  • “I always do,”
  • “Right,” retorted her father. Amirah skipped happily into the pack house, her mother had already gone inside. She had work to do. As she entered the door someone grabbed her from behind, she gasped in surprise and turned around and came face to face with Elijah.
  • “Eli, you silly man. I could have hurt you,”
  • “Right, woman, we both know you can’t harm me, you love me too much,” teased Elijah. Amirah narrowed her eyes at him and tried maneuvering out his hold but was pressed against the wall. Amirah was trapped between a wall and a very good-looking Elijah that smelled delicious. Her arousal woke up, she tried pressing her thighs together but Elijah playfully placed his thigh between her legs,
  • “I can smell your arousal, do I turn you on?”
  • “No,”
  • Elijah chuckled at her reply. He gave her his dazzling smile, it reminded her of Antonio and it had the same devastating effect. Amirah could feel her body melting in his arms.
  • “Arg, why am I thinking about him,” she thought, irritated by her thoughts. Elijah swapped her hair off her shoulders,
  • “Wait, Elijah…” she said trying to stop his movements but she felt his body tense up and the playful aura that surrounded them evaporated.
  • “Mira, why is his mark still there?”
