Chapter 2 The Past

• Amirah
• She and the twins drove to the pack house in Freya’s car. As they crossed the pack boundary, her mother cut through her blockade and mindlinked her,
• “Amirah Fox, where the hell have you been? Do you know how much trouble you have caused?” yelled her mom.
• “Sorry mom, I am on my way to the pack house, can you and dad meet me there?”
• “We are already at the pack house. The warriors informed the Alpha of your arrival,” replied her mom. They drove down the drive way to the massive pack house and as soon as the car pulled up everyone rushed out the house door and rushed down the stairs. Amirah got out and was immediately enveloped in a bear hug.
• “Amirah, where have you been? I was worried about you?” When I didn’t see you last night at the ball and this morning at your home, I knew something was wrong. We tried mindlinking you but we were blocked. I am so glad you okay,” said Elijah. Amirah stayed frozen in his arms. She could not grasp what was happening. She was beyond bewildered by Elijah’s acting.
• Seeing her unresponsive, he pulled away from her and stared her down. With his 6’4 height and her only 5’2, he always stared down at her and she stared up at him. Amirah gasped as she collided with crystal clear blue eyes and not last night’s haunting grey eyes.
• “What the hell was happening,” she thought.
• “Amirah! Amirah! I think she’s going into shock,” she heard Elijah shout. He lifted her up and walked back into the pack house. Amirah’s head was against Elijah’s chest and she felt a sense of comfort by the sparks flowing through her from his touch. She inhaled his scent to find more comfort, but he did not smell like vanilla, this morning he smelled like cinnamon. Everything was just so unsettling. Elijah sat on the couch and she remained in his lap.
• “Mira, baby, please tell me what’s wrong. You’re scaring me,”
• “You’re the one who’s scaring me Elijah,” she replied, jumping off his lap. It was like a current of electricity was pumped into her blood. Nothing made sense and she felt like she was losing her mind.
• “Why are you acting like this? Why does everyone think I’m missing? You left me at the hotel and then what? Did you regret what happened between us? Do you still want to regret me?” Amirah paced back and forth voicing out her frustration. She had forgotten that they had an audience, namely her father,
• “What do you mean he left you at the hotel room? Why was he in you room? Amirah what is happening?” questioned her father. Amirah stopped pacing and gave her father a sheepish look,
• “Last night I spent the night with Elijah, and he marked me. We mated,”
• “What?” gasped everyone but Elijah’s voice was the loudest.
• “Amirah, what the hell are you talking about?”
• “Look, I don’t know why you acting so weird or maybe you putting up an act because you regret everything and want to reject me but I will not lie to my parents,” she said, her voice cracking as her emotions overflowed inside her. Tears gathered in her eyes and her throat hurt from the unshed tears.
• Elijah released a deep sigh and ran a hand down his face, he took both Amirah’s hand and looked straight into her eyes,
• “Mira, yes we are fated mates and I have loved you forever, but princess, I did not spend the night with you last night and I did not mark you,” he said and Amirah could see the truth and sincerity of his words in his eyes. Her tears flowed down her face unchecked.
• “But… but… you did. I asked the twins to give you the note and key to my room. You came and yes at first you where cold and distant but after we kissed you made love to me and marked me,”
• “Frieda, Freya, can you confirm all this?” asked Alpha John,
• “Yes, Alpha, but up to the giving the note and key to Elijah but we cannot confirm what exactly happened in the room,” they twins answered.
• “And did you get the note and room key from the twins?” Alpha John questioned Elijah. He looked at his father and shook his head,
• “No, I got no such note or key. I did not see the twins all night,”
• “Matthew, Scott?” questioned Alpha John.
• “No Alpha, we did not see any of this happen,” they answered. Amirah felt her heart sink,” what was happening? See stared into Elijah’s face for answers and he had a very worried expression on his face.
• “I think she must have gotten drunk and slept with some random guy, like the slut I told you she was,” said Tessa, the beta’s daughter. She hated Amirah and she knew why, she wanted Elijah for herself.
• “TESSA!” warned Elijah,
• “What? How else are you going to explain all this? I mean we can all see the mark, she is mated to some guy and she doesn’t even know who it was. What do you call a girl who sleeps with men she does not now?” said Tessa, her voice sweetly and innocent, two of the things she is not.
• “Mira, darling, please just be honest. Me and your father will understand, just…tell us the truth,” pleaded her mom. Amirah was hurt that her own mother did not believe her.
• “I am telling you the truth,” she whispered, her voice was low and mournful, how could they not believe her.
• “Jack, please get me the footage from the hotel, ASAP,” said Alpha John, then he looked at Luna,
• “Sofia, it could be…”
• “No, no it’s impossible,” interjected Luna Sofia. She vehemently shook her head. Alpha John sighed and looked back at Amirah and Elijah,
• “Amirah, would you please try remembering did you see anything different about…” he hesitated.
• “… Elijah, when you were with him last night,”
• “But dad I already said I was not with her,” Elijah interrupted his father.
• “I know son, but it is clear that Amirah believes that you were and we need to figure out why that is,” replied Alpha John. Amirah was felting this overwhelming feeling that she might not have spent the night with Elijah. Did someone pretend to be Elijah? What how? Did they use magic to look like him? She felt herself hyperventilating as these thoughts ran throw her mind. Was she truly mated by a stranger but Dione had recognised him as their mate?
• “Di?” she called out to her wolf but she was silent.
• “Di?”
• “Dione, please speak to me,”
• “Amirah,” Elijah said her name, snapped her back to the room.
• “Sorry, what did you say?”
• “I said, dad’s right, was there anything different about me last night?” he asked. Amirah closed her eyes and chuckled at his question,
• “Yes, a lot was different about you, but I just thought maybe he changed. I mean it’s been two years and I was not the same as well. So, that was the reasoning I used and simply ignored the changes,” she opened her eyes and continued speak.
• “You physically are identical, but last night your eyes where a very intense haunting grey color and you were cold at first but…” she stopped and felt her face heat up as she blushed. How can she be talking about such in front of her parents and everyone present?
• “Please dear, carry on,” encouraged Alpha John.
• “Well, your scent was vanilla last night but right now it’s cinnamon or and you had a tribal tattoo on your forearm,”
• Elijah let go of her hands and rolled up his shirt sleeve and Amirah saw no tattoo, so she grabbed his other arm and rolled up the sleeves,
• “But… what? Elijah, what is happening?”
• “I don’t know, but we will figure it out,”
• “But, Di…”
• “What about Dione,” he asked.
• “She recognized you, him, as our mate?” gasped rippled throughout the room.
• “Oh my, are you sure?” asked her mom. Amirah nodded her head.
• “I think I may have any explanation for all this, but before I explain. Amirah my dear are you sure you saw Elijah and you were not intoxicated in any way,” Alpha John asked her. Amirah shock her head,
• “And you girls swear you gave Elijah the note and key, and you were not intoxicated in anyway?” Alpha John asked the twins, who also nodded their heads.
• “Well, there remains only one possibility, which in its self, should be an impossible scenario but here we are,”
• “John stop, it could not be. It’s impossible. Maybe she’s making all this up. We all know the twins are her close friends, they could be lying for her,” said Luna Sofia, the scared expression on her face told another story. What was Alpha John about to say that has her so scared?
