Chapter 10 Will Not Marry You

  • Wendy had gone through a pack of cigarettes, initially expecting a call from Finley that night. However, it was not Finley who rang, but rather, it was Caspian who ended up calling her in the wee hours.
  • Wendy was seated on the living room couch, enveloped in a hazy fog of smoke, the lights turned off. She pleaded, “Caspian, can you just let me off the hook? You've been living just fine without me these past few years. Just pretend... you've never even met me.”
  • It seemed like Caspian had consumed quite a bit of alcohol, his voice sounding languid. “You know, I thought I'd just give you a little scare, but seeing you with Finley doesn't sit well with me.”
