Chapter 2 Mana

  • "If anyone were to have someone like her as their wife, there wouldn't be a need for prostitution, aye?" The obscene man expressed his thoughts and let out an emotional sigh.
  • "Yes."Just as Neil Jordan replied, two police officers behind the woman said in unison, "Neil Jordan, your wife is here to bail you out, you may leave now!"
  • Both Neil and the obscene man were shocked.
  • How ironic.
  • Neil Jordan was brought right out of the iron fence after the officers opened it up, and left with the woman.
  • He followed behind his wife, and felt that the woman was extraordinarily cold.
  • She didn't even set her eyes on him once.
  • This got Neil thinking Is she really my wife?
  • After paying the bail, they left the detention center.
  • The two officer's discussion could be heard from behind.
  • "This kid still goes to a bathing center after marrying such a charming wife? What is he thinking!"
  • "Exactly!"
  • "Y'all probably didn't know this, but this guy is actually a spineless live-in son-in-law!"
  • "Live-in son-in-law?"
  • "Yep! Did you know who that woman is? She is Quana Logan of the Logan family."
  • The other two police officers came to a sudden realization after hearing the name.
  • "It's the Logan family's live-in son-in-law that caused an uproar in Nicosa City half a year ago!"
  • "The beauty and the beast."
  • "I know right?"
  • Though not too loud, the discussion still reached Neil's ears.
  • Neil had lost his composure for a moment.
  • With a few still missing, the puzzle pieces came together, and he had almost figured it all out.
  • That he had leapt through time...
  • And became a useless live-in son-in-law?
  • And more importantly, a live-in son-in-law who was caught looking for a prostitute?
  • I'll be damned...
  • The once most charming, of unparalleled talent and looks, the Legendary Healer sought after by countless fairy maidens, to be turned into such a useless person!
  • What have I done to deserve this!
  • After lifting his eyes and peeking at the breathtakingly elegant woman in front, Neil felt slightly better.
  • "Still, I'll have to admit that my wife here is a real stunner!"
  • "I guess when life gives me lemons, I'll have to squeeze it out and chill!"
  • "Regardless, I'll have to figure out what's going on now. Once I regain my cultivation, I'll just leave this miserable place as soon as possible."
  • Taking a deep breath, Neil tried to absorb some mana from his surroundings.
  • To his surprise, this world was too different from what he had in mind.
  • The air was dry of mana, it only contained haze and murky oxygen.
  • And he could not regain his cultivation like this!
  • Neil was starting to lose it.
  • "How can I cultivate if there's no mana!"
  • "If I can't cultivate, I can't get back to my original world!"
  • "What in the world can I do now?"
  • While Neil was pondering, he felt a slight jolt of mana transferred to his body.
  • This mana... is coming from my wife?
  • "She actually has mana in her body?"
  • "Holy moly!"
  • Feeling the long-lost sensation of a mana flow, Neil almost screamed out loud in excitement.
  • As Neil was exhilarated, Quana Logan had reached the door of a white Porsche Cayenne.
  • "Hop on!"
  • Her voice was ice cold, just like her personality.
  • Neil sat in the passenger seat in response.
  • Because he wanted to be closer to his wife to absorb more mana.
  • Neil's past body had never sat in a passenger seat, but it's because Quana didn't let him sit there.
  • Quana gave Neil a weird glare when he saw him in the passenger seat.
  • But in the end, without a word, she turned around and got in the car.
  • She started the car up, and started driving.
  • Neil and Quana were like total strangers, neither words nor communication were there between them.
  • Cars drove through the streets.
  • Neil was there, feeling the slight scent of mana coming from Quana.
  • For cultivators like Neil, mana was like fuel for the body, just like gasoline for cars.
