Chapter 9

  • “Doctor Killian Chen was living in the forest. And he was already here when the murder took place,” Belle said quietly as she chewed a burger in the canteen's corner.
  • "If what he says is true, then he may have known who killed those corpses," she added.
  • “What are you murmuring?”
  • Belle was taken aback when Audrey appeared behind her.
  • "Oh my goodness, Audrey!" Don't take me by surprise like that!" Belle grumbled.
  • "I was aware of what happened earlier. Are you all right? Carl is a moron! I'm going to kill that jerk!" Audrey screamed.
  • Belle smiled, “Don't worry, Carl is still in the infirmary,”
  • “So it’s also true that you endured him?! How did you do that?!”
  • Belle motions Audrey to get closer...
  • "I also have something to tell you,"
  • But the bell rang before Belle could finish her story.
  • “I'll tell you later, but let's go to the room first. I also missed the earlier lesson; Prof Villa will be furious!”
  • Belle and Audrey entered the room together. They talked about Audrey's absence from class this morning along the way.
  • "My sister is getting married, and my father is upset because he doesn't know where the man she chose comes from!" Audrey exclaimed as they made their way down the corridor.
  • Belle was unable to focus on what Audrey was saying. Because of the looks on the faces of those in the corridor, even the conversations around her were audible.
  • “Hey Audrey, you're already here? Isn't there an emergency in your family? Do you mean your father fixed it right away?"Laura said while blocking the road with her cheering squad teammates.
  • "Laura, I had no idea you were so interested in my family life that everything was going on inside our house," Audrey smirked.
  • "Ha Ha Ha, well, unlike yours and your nerd friends, my family's life is boring," Laura chuckled as she looked at Belle.
  • “Laura Jacob, are you sure your family’s life is boring? Perhaps you forgot- your mother used to work in our factory," Audrey retorted, raising an eyebrow.
  • “You!" Laura was about to slap Audrey when she noticed the new student passing by and decided to stop.
  • "Laura, the basketball tryout is about to begin, so let's get started!"" said one of the cheerleaders.
  • "I'm not finished with you!" Laura exclaimed, hurrying away with her squad.
  • "Can you tell me why Laura's blood is so hot on you?"" Belle remarked that the group was already quite far away.
  • "I don't mind. Laura is unimportant! What matters is that we get to the gym as soon as possible!" Audrey exclaimed as she walked Belle.
  • "Are there any students entering the classroom?"
  • “Belle, whenever the basketball team has a tryout, the entire school shuts down and all classes are canceled!”
  • “Then I’ll just go home to rest!” Belle said and turned around, but Audrey quickly stopped her.
  • "Didn't you see the guy who was walking by earlier?" He's the guy who helped you at the welcome party!”
  • Belle sighed. She didn't notice Audrey was referring to because she was worried that the entire cheering squad would fight with them.
  • "Then don't fight with Laura at the gym! I don't want to draw attention to myself again," Belle pleaded as she was forced to take a step.
  • "Of course, I'm not going to argue with her! Laura is too meaningless for me to waste my time. My attention is currently focused on that guy!” Audrey shuddered as she replied, "My future boyfriend."
  • Belle shook her head because of what she said.
  • Since Laura and Audrey have long been rivals in everything, Belle is suspicious of Audrey's claim.
  • They were about to enter the gym when Belle said that she needed to use the restroom.
  • "All right, but hurry up! I'll go first to get a front-row seat."
  • Belle sighed as Audrey disappeared from her sight. She was walking to the bathroom when her ear suddenly rang loudly.
  • “What was that!” She mutters to herself.
  • “No! That is not possible! I warned you it was dangerous!”
  • "I've had enough of you! I know exactly what I'm doing!”
  • "If you go ahead with your plan, someone will get hurt!"
  • Belle dashed in the direction where she heard the voice.
  • From the hiding wall, “Doc. Chen?” Belle's suspicion grew stronger. She turned around to see who the doctor was speaking with.
  • “Who are you talking to? and what are you talking about that could endanger anyone?" Belle said quietly as she watched the doctor, who appeared to sense her presence and turned in the direction she was hiding.
  • Belle was nervous when Killian started walking in her direction.
  • “Doctor. Chen, my friend, is in the hospital and needs stomach pain medication," someone called him.
  • Only then did Belle breathe a sigh of relief as Doctor Killian changed direction. She paused for a few moments before peeking again.
  • Belle came out from her hiding spot when she noticed that the area was clear.
  • "I need to know who Killian Chen is and who he's talking to that could endanger the town's citizens!"" Belle says as she decides to follow Killian Chen and track everything he does.
  • Belle was even more surprised when her phone rang while she was thinking about Doctor Chen.
  • “Shit!” She cursed for fear that Killian would hear her. She immediately found the phone in the bag and answered.
  • “Belle, where are you? The game is about to start!”
  • Belle quickly removed the phone from her ear. The strength of Audrey's voice, combined with the screams heard throughout the gym- Belle nearly broke her eardrum.
  • “My God, Audrey, what’s wrong with the demure you've planned for the entire vacation? I have an urgent matter; let's meet after the game,"
  • "Yeah, I knew it. You had no intention of accompanying me. Let's get together in the parking lot. I'll meet you there," Audrey replied before disappearing to the other line.
  • "Hmm, life is more important to me than a tri-out game," Belle said quietly. She walked over again and came to a halt at the infirmary door.
  • “I’m sure the three of you learned your lesson?”
  • Belle heard the groan of those insides after Killian's sentence, so she opened the door without hesitation.
  • Killian looked at her.
  • “Ms. Stone, it is not appropriate to enter a room without knocking,” he said.
