Chapter 185

  • Zeke’s POV: “Ha Ha Ha, senior, are you sure? Our bet for Dave is one thousand dollars!“ The person holding the money remarks, laughing at their senior’s decision. “Yes, I’m sure.” He got his wallet from his pocket and discharged a bill worth one thousand dollars. "I'm sure," he said, pulling his wallet from his pocket and removing a $1,000 bill. Lauro Morris is that senior; a hunter for forty years, he has yet to be promoted to group commander. Although his contemporaries are of high rank, he remains a Rank A hunter. Not because he lacks talent. Lauro, in fact, is the best in the field; he began hunting at the age of ten and has killed numerous creatures from the past. But then something unexpected happened, and everything changed. Even though Lauro despises remembering it. Because of Lauro’s declaration, everyone’s attention was focused on my fight with Dave’s group. ------ “I don’t have time for this,” I murmured while holding onto the arm of one of Dave’s friends. I looked at the clock. I don’t have time for this. The Grandmaster will surely get angry if I arrive at his class late. That is why I didn’t waste more time and started to charge my opponent. The guy that I restrained received an uppercut; my hit on his jaw was solid, so the poor guy lost consciousness right away. Then I jumped on the top of the table when the two tried to catch me. “You can’t escape!” Dave, who is now in front of me, exclaimed as he hit me with a chair. Fortunately, I saw it, but it was too late to avoid it, so I used my arms to make a shield. It tore the chair because of the force of the impact. It also injured my arm, but I did not care about the pain. Many things have happened to me that are even more painful than the simple blow of a chair. Raine, on the other hand, was quick to run away and since the officers in the cafeteria had no intention of interfering, she went to the commander, who was in the other room. Raine was a little scared, but she still knocked and entered. She was surprised to see the Grandmaster there as well. “I’m sorry! I didn’t know you had a meeting,“ Raine’s voice trembled in fear as everyone focused on her. "Grandmaster, please forgive my daughter's manner," the commander apologized as he bowed. “Don't worry, we have nothing important to discuss. However, your daughter appears to have a problem," Roman observed, smiling. “Tell me, what is the reason for your going?” The commander asked. “Dad, I mean commander, Dave and his friend started a fight in the cafeteria. But the officer there doesn’t forbid them!” Raine hurriedly explained. “And who is this unlucky person who stole Dave’s attention?” The commander calmly asked. Such scenes are not new, so he is not worried. “His name is Zeke Hunter, and he’s the Grandmaster’s apprentice,” Raine said quietly. She was nervous about the grandmaster’s reaction. The commander stood up as he watched the grandmaster calmly drink his tea. "Grandmaster, don't worry, I will punish this kid," the commander says. "Ha Ha Ha, looks like my kid will enjoy his stay here," Roman said, his eyes twinkling. Because of what the Grandmaster had said, the commanders exchanged glances. They don't notice any anger or concern on his face; instead, they notice him sipping his drink. One had glided in to make a remark. "I won't choose that kid for nothing," Roman says. He got up and started walking. The other head complied with the suit. They followed the grandmaster out of the room and into the cafeteria. Lauro was overjoyed inside the canteen because three of my opponents had already passed out. Dave was the only one left, but he couldn't stand up straight due to the last blow I dealt him. “This battle is pointless!” I declare. I turned around to leave the canteen. "I'm not finished with you!" Dave screamed, his veins bursting in his neck. He ran quickly and jumped just inches away from me. "Why don't you pay attention?" I murmured as I turned and kicked Dave. “Yes!" Lauro exclaimed with delight. He took the money from the colleague who was holding it right away. "Senior, do you know the new kid? Why do you think he'll win?“ While handling the money, the guy asks with doubt. "I've never met the kid. I just went with my gut instinct. And, as we all know, the Grandmaster took an apprentice on his last trip," Lauro explained as he counted the money. Lauro's coworker growls, and they both complain when the door unexpectedly opens. When they saw the heads of each building, they immediately sweated and bowed their heads. “Zeke! Thank God you're fine," Raine exclaimed as she dashed towards me. But I ignore her and direct my attention to the group approaching me. "The Grandmaster will kill me," I muttered as I looked at the wall clock. "It appears you had a good first day here," I immediately turned to face the speaker. Because of the tall ones in the front, I didn’t notice that somebody was in the middle. “Grandmaster,” I utter and bow my head. Although I don’t like him, I have to show respect to him, especially in front of his subordinate. "How are they doing?" Are they fit to be hunters? " Roman asked, his gaze drawn to the four unconscious people on the floor. "I will gladly accept the punishment for what happened," I say, dismissing the Grandmaster's examination. “But why? Dave’s group started this, and I witnessed you trying to avoid them,” Raine said as she looked at her father. "And it looks like you found a new friend," Roman said as he walked out of the cafeteria, smiling at Raine. "I don't know her, so cut the teasing," I said as I chased after the grandmaster. "That's not what I saw," said the Grandmaster without looking at me.
