Chapter 7 The Two Who Passed Away

  • As I was caught in a moment of indecision, a flamboyantly dressed woman had already pushed open the car door and climbed in.
  • “I flagged this!” I expressed, rather displeased.
  • “It belongs to whoever gets in here first!” the woman declared.
  • “You...” I was somewhat annoyed.
  • The driver, however, waved his hand dismissively. “Move aside, we're leaving now!”
  • Angrily, I slammed the car door shut. What kind of people were they?
  • Unable to hail a taxi, I slowly started to walk back, planning to try my luck on the main road. The sound from earlier echoed in my mind, causing me to glance around involuntarily. I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was following me.
  • I shook my head. Could it be that I was too exhausted?
  • With these thoughts in mind, I noticed a small crowd gathered at the intersection ahead, with two cars parked to the side.
  • When I saw that one of it was a taxi, I had an uneasy feeling.
  • I hurried over, and upon seeing the two people in the taxi, my heart sank.
  • It was that driver and the woman from a moment ago.
  • The driver's head had collided with the steering wheel, causing a significant amount of blood to flow. As for the woman, it was unclear if she was just unlucky, but she had been impaled in the chest by a tree branch at the side of the road.
  • It seemed that the taxi had collided with a sedan, then slid to the side of the road, where it was pierced by a protruding tree branch.
  • My heart pounded wildly, a mix of relief and lingering fear washing over me. Had I been the one to get in that taxi earlier, it would have been me who met that grim fate.
  • Suddenly, I remembered the voice that had whispered in my ear...
  • The air around me was cold.
  • I hailed another taxi and quickly returned home.
  • Back home, the electricity had returned. I pulled a black umbrella from the cupboard. It was an item my grandmother had purchased from a fortune teller, an umbrella said to have a strong aura of dark energy and could allow one to see ghosts if it was opened indoors.
  • I held the umbrella, wrestling with my thoughts for over half an hour before I finally opened it. As soon as it unfurled, I felt a chill permeate the air around me.
  • Swallowing hard, I gathered my courage before ducking under the umbrella. I anxiously scanned the surroundings but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
  • I breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that I had indeed been paranoid.
  • Just as I headed upstairs and was about to put away the umbrella, I was stunned to find someone lying on my bed.
  • It was a towering man, his frame nearly taking over my small bed...
  • “Ah!” I couldn't help but let out a cry.
  • Suddenly, that man turned around and looked at me.
  • In that fleeting moment, I got a clear look at his face.
  • It was Jayden!
  • I would never forget that face in my lifetime. After all, such a handsome man was truly a rare sight in this world.
  • I stood there, hand over my mouth, locked in a stare with him. This wasn't the first time I'd encountered a client's ghost, but before, it had always been at the scene of a ghost marriage or in their home. I never expected he would follow me back.
  • I stood there dumbfounded for quite some time, gathering my thoughts before I mustered the courage to speak. “Um... Mr. Shandor, I will arrange for the female ghost to meet you as soon as possible...”
  • Before I could finish my sentence, Jayden had already disappeared.
  • I tossed the umbrella to the ground, panting heavily, and took a good while to catch my breath.
  • Picking up the umbrella again, I scanned the area for quite some time before finally confirming that Jayden was no longer around. Only then did I dare to get into bed.
  • As I lay in bed, I was tossing and turning, unable to sleep. In my year-plus as a spirit matchmaker, this was the first time a client had shown up at my home, and even more astonishing, he was lying in my bed.
  • Even though he was a handsome guy, that was when he was alive. Now that he was dead, he was just a male ghost. What was the deal with him lying on my bed?
  • The more I thought about it, the more it unnerved me. It seemed like I had to ask my grandmother about it the next day.
  • As I searched him up online, the results I found took me by surprise...
