Chapter 8 Let's Go Home Together
- Ethan fell to his knees, trembling uncontrollably. He was utterly terrified.
- The wealth and power he had always taken pride in were nothing more than a joke in front of Liam.
- As he scanned the figures kneeling on the ground, his face twitched uncontrollably. Each of these people were influential figures who wielded immense power throughout Dangorge. And yet, they now knelt before Liam with the utmost respect.
- The sound of a wheelchair rolling across the floor echoed loudly in the silence. Ethan looked up and saw Liam approaching. Liam stood over him, looking down with a noble and arrogant expression on his face.
- "I heard you needed the rare blood type? My daughter is so young, she doesn’t have much blood to give. How about you take mine instead?"
- It was like a thunderclap in Ethan’s mind, reverberating through his consciousness.
- He finally understood. Everything became clear.
- This terrifying man was Diana’s father!
- Ethan was overwhelmed by confusion. He always thought that Diana was just a lowly, insignificant child. It had never crossed his mind that she had such a terrifying father.
- But now was not the time for these thoughts. All of Ethan’s previous arrogance had vanished.
- Trembling, he prostrated himself before Liam, stuttering, “I’m sorry! I shouldn't have laid a hand on your daughter. Please spare me this time!”
- Liam smiled, but it was a cold smile, like something out of a nightmare.
- He shook his head slightly. “If I hadn’t appeared, who would have spared my daughter? Your son’s life matters, but my daughter’s life doesn’t?”
- As he spoke, Liam slowly stood up, like a king reclaiming his throne. In that moment, he commanded the world. “What goes around comes around. Those who commit injustice will meet their end.”
- Turning away, Liam faced the cold wind that swept through, his voice like the final judgment of a king: “For this crime, blood must be repaid with blood.”
- The next day, as the sunlight bathed the earth once again, a shocking piece of news spread throughout Vexane.
- The Wolfe family, the most powerful family in Vexane, had been engulfed in a fire during the night. All 132 direct family members perished in the blaze, with no survivors.
- No one bothered to investigate the truth behind the fire. For the average citizen, it was merely another topic of gossip to chat about during their meals.
- In the room in the medical center, Liam’s eyes formed gentle crescents as he smiled at the little girl before him. Her soft, sweet voice asked, “Are you really my daddy?”
- Liam nodded. “Yes, Diana. I have come to see you”
- As he finished his words, Diana's eyes suddenly lit up, then dimmed as tears welled up and streamed down her cheeks. She threw herself into Liam’s arms, her voice thick with sobs. “You finally came!”
- “I’m not fatherless anymore!”
- Her joyful words were tinged with deep sadness. Liam’s heart ached intensely as he held Diana’s fragile body tightly in his arms. With the softest voice, filled with love and warmth, he whispered, “Diana, I’m so sorry. I came too late.”
- “From now on, I will never leave. I’ll be here with you and mommy.”
- Diana looked at Liam, her gaze full of hope. “Really?”
- Liam nodded. “Of course.”
- A smile bloomed on Diana’s face, filled with happiness.
- She extended her hand toward Liam and said, “Let’s pinky swear. Promise me, daddy. You’ll never leave us again, okay?”
- Liam smiled, extending his hand to hers to make a pinky swear.
- “Okay, I promise.”
- He didn't make promises easily, and when he did, he kept his words.
- Watching the smile on Diana’s face, Katherine’s eyes filled with tears she could no longer hold back. She bit her lip hard, her expression complex.
- She had thought that she and Liam would never cross paths again. But for the sake of Diana, she decided to give Liam another chance and to give herself a sliver of hope.
- The laughter of Liam and Diana quickly filled the room. Katherine couldn’t help but smile softly at the sight of the two of them.
- Just then, her phone rang. After a brief conversation, her expression darkened slightly as she hung up.
- Liam immediately noticed the change in her demeanor and asked quietly, “What’s wrong?”
- Katherine hesitated for a moment and said sotly, “My father wants me to bring Diana home for a visit.”
- At these words, a flicker of something dark flashed in Liam’s eyes. From the moment he first saw them, he had already had someone investigate every detail of their past five years.
- Katherine’s family was considered above average in Vexane. Her mother had passed away early, and her father had remarried, having another daughter who was only three years younger than Katherine.
- She could have lived a life of ease and comfort, but five years ago, she became pregnant out of wedlock and insisted on keeping the child. Her father, once doting and loving, flew into a rage and cast her out of the family without any support.
- Since then, she had been shouldering the responsibility of raising her and Diana alone. For five years, Katherine had done everything to survive. In a time when she should have been cherished and cared for, she bore the weight of unimaginable hardships.
- Thinking of this, Liam’s heart ached deeply. All of this was his fault.
- “Liam, do you think I should go back?” Katherine suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with uncertainty.
- “That’s your home. Why wouldn’t you go back?” Liam’s voice was full of warmth as he looked at her. “This time, I’ll go back with you.”
- There was something he didn’t say aloud.
- According to his investigation, her father, Sawyer Sage, still cared for Katherine deeply. Over the past five years, he had secretly helped her many times.
- But she was completely unaware, and it was all thanks to her seemingly kind and gentle stepmother.
- As he thought of this, a sharp glint appeared in Liam’s eyes. He had decided to shield Katherine from all harm. He would also help her get back what belonged to her.
- With Liam’s encouragement, a look of determination slowly appeared in Katherine’s eyes. She nodded. “Alright. Let’s go home together.”
