Chapter 5 The Arrogant Man
- Nathan Wolfe’s arrogant gaze swept across the room, and when he saw Diana lying on the bed, his eyes lit up. He pointed at her with disdain and said, “So this is where you are. It took me long enough to find you!”
- “Take her! I have a date with an actress tonight, so I need to get some blood quickly. I’m gearing up for an all-night fun!”
- “No!” Katherine immediately shielded Diana with her body, her face full of caution as she glared at them. “What do you want to do to my daughter?”
- Having grown accustomed to seeing countless artificial faces, Nathan’s eyes brightened at the sight of Katherine’s natural, girl-next-door beauty.
- “Well, well! I didn’t expect this brat to have such a pretty mom! Hey, sweetheart, if you spend the night with me, maybe I’ll think about sparing the little brat’s pathetic life!”
- As he laughed and spoke, his lustful gaze wandered over Katherine, and he reached out to touch her face.
- But just as his hand was about to make contact, a hand suddenly appeared from the side. The hand tightly gripped his hand, rendering him immobile.
- Only then did Nathan notice a young man sitting in a wheelchair beside him. The man’s face was expressionless, but his eyes, filled with endless coldness and indifference, locked onto him.
- He shivered instinctively, but then, recalling his status, his expression turned vicious as he cursed, “Damn it! Where did this cripple come from? Let go of my hand now, or I’ll throw you into the sea!”
- Liam’s eyes lowered, his voice calm but filled with the weight of death. “You must be the eldest son in the Wolfe family, the one who wants to drain my daughter’s blood?”
- “Your daughter?” Nathan blinked in confusion, then sneered dismissively. “Oh, so you’re the brat’s father, huh?”
- Given the Wolfe family’s power in Vexane, they had already investigated Diana thoroughly.
- For the past five years, she had lived with her mother in poverty. Although they didn’t know who her father was, judging by the miserable life his wife and daughter led, how powerful could this father be?
- With that thought, Nathan impatiently pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket and tossed it in front of Liam. “Don’t say I’m bullying you. This money should be enough to buy half your daughter’s blood.”
- His high and mighty tone reeked of condescension, as if saying that him taking blood from Diana was some sort of honor.
- Then, his greedy eyes wandered to Katherine again, lust glinting in them. “Your wife is quite the looker. Let her spend a night with me, and I’ll throw in an extra twenty thousand. How about it?”
- Listening to Nathan’s degrading words, Liam showed no visible reaction. His eyes, however, were as cold as if he were looking at a dead man. He spoke softly, “Have you said your last words?”
- Nathan froze for a moment, then burst into laughter. “You’re not just a cripple, you’re a lunatic too!”
- He pointed his finger at Liam’s head while showing an arrogant look. “Do you even know who I am? You should feel honored that I want to have some fun with your wife!”
- Suddenly, a flash of chilling intent flickered in Liam’s eyes. “The thing I hate most is when someone points their finger at my head.”
- “Screw you! What the hell are you gonna—” Before he could finish, Peter, who had barely been holding back his fury, moved like lightning. His hand shot out and grabbed Nathan’s finger.
- A sickening sound of breaking bone echoed through the room.
- A bloodcurdling scream instantly filled the hospital ward. “My finger! You actually dared to break my finger?”
- Nathan was in utter disbelief! In Vexane, no one dared lay a hand on him, the eldest son in the Wolfe family.
- But the excruciating pain in his hand sent his vision red with rage. “What are you idiots standing around for? Kill them all!”
- Nathan’s men, accustomed to being arrogant thugs, immediately charged forward upon hearing his command.
- Peter sneered in disdain, and in less than a minute, the room was filled with the sound of screams. Bodies lay groaning on the ground, none of them able to stand anymore.
- Nathan swallowed hard. Seeing Peter’s murderous gaze fall upon him, he began backing away, all traces of arrogance wiped from his face.
- “Y-You… stay back! I am the son of Ethan!”
- Liam stared at him coldly. “Did you want to drain my daughter’s blood? You wanted my wife to sleep with you? You even threatened to throw me into the sea?”
- Three deathly questions, like thunder, exploded in Nathan’s ears. His body trembled violently, and his forehead was drenched in cold sweat.
- But the sense of superiority he had been raised with all his life made him continue to act arrogantly. “You punk! I underestimated you today!”
- “But this is Vexane, and my father is Ethan! What the hell can you do to me?”
- Upon hearing this, a strange smile suddenly tugged at the corner of Liam’s mouth. “Do you know what my favorite saying is?”
- Nathan froze, confused by the sudden shift in conversation. He didn’t understand why Liam had asked such a random question.
- Liam’s eyes, filled with endless coldness, lifted slightly as he murmured, “It's an eye for an eye.”
