• I'm standing in front of the full moon, the icy wind rushing through my black hair, flaying my bare skin. The sky is inky black, pierced only by the pale glow of the stars. Every muscle in my body is tense, every breath heavy.
• Alina is still asleep. Or at least I hope she is. I left her in our bed, her peaceful breath caressing my skin as I escaped into the night. If she knew where I was right now, she'd stop me - or at least try. But I can't give her a choice. I have to make this pact. For her sake. For us.
