Chapter 6 Get A Great-grandchild

• Oh dear, how could I make such a mistake?
• Noticing Shawn's piercing gaze, Jojo quickly amended, "D-Dear... husband."
• She looked down with a blush at that; not only did Rupert do the same, but even Shawn gave an uncomfortable cough.
• "Is your throat itching? Get some water," suggested Rupert, holding Jojo's hand contentedly and sighing deeply.
• "I've lived an adventurous and competitive life, and my greatest desire in old age is to see this boy get married... oh, I do have one other wish. Jojo, you don't think I'm a bother, do you?"
• "Obviously not, Grandpa. Please tell me about it!"
• "Jojo, only you can fulfill this one." Rupert lowered his voice meaningfully. "I hope I can get a great-grandchild before I leave this world."
• Jojo reddened as she could not do that on her own and shot Shawn a glance in fear he would refuse. Their marriage was originally a farce anyway.
• "Grandpa, I'm still young and…"
• "Don't worry, Grandpa. We will do our best!" Jojo was about to give herself an excuse when Shawn made a low, echoing proclamation. "I shall make sure you get the best healthcare to allow you to watch your great-grandson grow up!"
• "Okay, okay." Rupert was overjoyed and had his assistant bring out a translucent jade bangle and put it on her wrist personally, "Jojo, this is a cherished family heirloom that is only passed down to future daughters-in-law. With your marriage, I'll give it to you on his late grandma's behalf."
• "Grandpa, it's too expensive..."
• "Take it as a present!" Rupert insisted.
• Jojo glanced at Shawn, who hadn't objected, and took it hesitantly with plans to somehow give it back afterward. Rupert's weak demeanor struck Jojo with guilt as she hadn't wanted to trick him.
• Jojo was burdened by heavy thoughts as she left the ward. With her recent brain cancer diagnosis, she could stay alive until the baby was born; it would also reassure her grandmother with its presence after she died and reduce her pain. However, should she tell Shawn about her expectant state?
• "Mr. Lawson, I have an important matter to tell you..."
• "I am not interested."
• Just as she had gathered the confidence to admit it, Shawn moved away to answer a call and approached after disconnecting it. "I have an emergency. Jojo, I suggest you recall the position you're in and not inconveniencing me!"
• "Me? Inconveniencing you?"
• "Just act however you want." He departed, infuriating Jojo, who gritted her teeth in irritation. She had wanted to be open to him, but it appeared useless to tell him anything!
• She returned to her dormitory huffily just to notice a van waiting nearby, with Veronica anxiously calling someone.
• Oh dear, her father sending a car to get her for her physical had slipped her mind!
• "She's disappeared, Mom. You think she may have found out our plot and ran away? We can't let her talk to Mr. Lawson..."
• "Looking for me?"
• "Ah! Why walk so silently? You shocked me!" exclaimed Veronica guiltily at Jojo's abrupt appearance, face awkwardly twisted. "You overheard anything?"
• "About what?" Jojo noted her evasiveness and could discern her ulterior motives. "Veronica, I'm uninterested in your plots and advise you not to cause issues. I suggest you avoid causing trouble! I have something to do in Lison, so inform Dad that I won't be going overseas for treatment for now."
• "Huh?"
• If she wouldn't go, how could they execute their plot? If Mr. Lawson discovered the person from that night was...
• Veronica was infuriated and even suspected that Jojo might have sensed her plot, so she purposefully refused to go. "Jojo, how can you hesitate? Dad has worked so hard for this, which was all wasted for your sake! Ah, you probably are dating some b*stard again, which is the reason you won't go, huh? Well... you haven't returned to your dormitory for a while, so have you been with other men again?"
• In the next moment, a sharp slap landed on Veronica's delicate face, swelling it instantly. She looked disbelievingly at Jojo. "How could you slap me?"
• "What's weird about striking a spoiled child like you!"
• "You, you..."
• Jojo sneered disdainfully. "You can't even speak properly, so I'll help Dad lecture you as part of my sisterly duties."
• Ugh!
• Veronica had never been treated this way before, and her eyes reddened as she shouted without regard for anything, "Are you all deaf? Dad asked her to head overseas for treatment. Why aren't you helping her get there?"
• With that, one tall and another thin man jumped out of the van, instantly holding Jojo by her limbs on each side, and carried her into the van!
• Veronica smiled cruelly at the sight of Jojo being kidnapped. "Take good care of her. Hurry up and go!"
• "What are you trying to do in broad daylight? Release me. I won't go overseas."
• "..."
• Jojo was muffled by the men as the van sped away from the hospital staff building.
• ...
• Shawn hurried back to the company in a disheveled state, where his assistant Asher immediately leaned in to report something in his ear. Shawn listened with a cool, disdainful look before nodding, his lengthy legs leading him into the elevator.
• "Don't hit me, don't hit me! You are torturing me secretly…ugh..."
• The door of the dark basement suddenly swung open, revealing a man with a chilling aura that made everyone shiver. Someone carried a pure gold chair over with his entry, which he sat on, his scary mask shining coldly.
• "Did you leak my schedule to Josh? So, you are the...spy in my company." He accentuated the word 'spy' heavily, and the person covered in blood almost passed out from his terror.
• He instantly fell to his knees at the man's feet. "Mr. Lawson, I... I did not have a choice! He kidnapped my wife and son to force me into complying. I was mistaken. Have mercy!"
• "Mercy is for the heavens." Shawn sneered demonically, and his eyes gleamed coldly. "I'm responsible for sending you there."
• Screams resonated in the basement.
• "Sir," whispered Asher, appearing anxious after answering the phone. "I got a call from the hospital about your suit outside Miss Grant's dormitory, and someone witnessed her getting snatched by a van!"
