Chapter 6
- "You can drop me off here, I will be ready in the next one hour if not less so you can come back then. You don't have to wait here as your boss said."
- Laura told the driver.
- "It's okay ma, I can wait here while you get what you need." He replied.
- "Okay if you say so,"
- Laura answered as she stepped down from the car and went up to her apartment.
- She didn't need much stuff. Just the basic things required for everyday life. She had almost finished arranging what she needed before the director had called her to come to the hospital.
- Today was the first time she has seen that many cameras. The whole hospital had been filled with different media persons when she had arrived. It's had taken her white a while to get into the hospital. Poor Devon. How the media got to know about the hospital he was admitted in no one knows.
- She hurriedly parked the things she had not arranged and started stuffing them into the traveling bags. She didn't want to take too long, she hated keeping someone waiting.
- When she was done with that. She moved them to her sitting room. Then she went about closing all the window blinds and also covering everything with the cover she had bought from the shop. She made sure everything was in order.
- Moving her bags out of her apartment, she stopped by her neighbor's apartment and knocked. She opened almost immediately.
- "Oh, Laura Hi there, I was just about to leave the house. Do you need anything??" Ma Paula asked.
- "Oh you are leaving already," she added when she saw Laura's language
- "Yes, ma, something came up and my patient had to be discharged earlier than planned."
- "Oh, I hope it's not a big issue?" she asked with concern.
- "No ma, it's not," Laura replied.
- "Okay if you say so," Paula answered.
- "Can you please help me tell the kids I am sorry I didn't wait till they got back from school before I left, tell them I will come and visit soon?"
- "There is nothing to be sorry about dear, just take care of yourself and be back in time for Christmas."
- She replied patting Laura on her back.
- "I will ma," Laura replied.
- They both walked out of the apartment stairs down to the lane Laura said goodbye to her and waved at the driver who came down to pick her language.
- "Thanks, Dan," she said when they got to the car.
- He smiled and waved off her thanks.
- "You can get some rest or read a book or browse on the internet it will take a while to get to the house because it is located on the outskirt of town." He explained.
- The outskirt of than Laura thought is that not too far from the town what if there was an emergency how would she call for help.
- She will talk to Mark when they got there she figured the driver might not know about the details of the arrangement so she just nodded her head and brought out a book that she had been wanting to read for a while now but have not gotten the chance to read it.
- The vehicle gradually left her apartment complex into the busy street of Springfield then down into areas where she didn't know. She tried to concentrate on reading but she could not she was nervous. She always felt nervous whenever she had to move to a new place.
- Compound with the fact that Devon would be her first Young patient. She had always dealt with older men and women. He will be her first patient close to her age.
- Since she couldn't concentrate on reading she decided to call her mother superior.
- "Hi Mother Good afternoon," she said when mother superior picked the call
- Hello Laura dear, how are you doing?" Mother asked over the phone.
- "I am fine, mother I just wanted to say hi."
- "Thanks, dear how is work and is life?"
- "Everything is fine. How is everyone at the home?"
- "We are all doing fine dear we miss you greatly."
- "I miss you too mother I will come and visit soon."
- "Okay, dear. We will be expecting you."
- "Yes, have a nice day mother," she said
- "You too."Mother replied.
- When she hunged up the call she looked around and they were out of the town completely they were riding through a long road with tall trees on each side
- "Well, are you trying to kidnap me?" she jokingly asked the driver Dan
- He laughed and looked at her with a funny expression
- "No, ma I ain't no, kidnapper, don't worry you are safe." He said.
- She laughed too.
- "How much longer until we get there?" She asked.
- "About two hours more." He replied.
- "Wow, that long? Are we going out of Springfield completely?"
- "No, but like I said we are going to the outskirt of town. Don't worry you will like the place if you are someone that likes a calm and natural atmosphere but if you are one to enjoy busy cities which I doubt cuz of the vibes you give off. Then you might get a little bored.
- "Oh, I like calm places."
- "I guessed right then, you are gonna like being in the Clovers, it's calm and covered in nature. The perfect place for healing." He said.
- "Wow, it must be nice there." She answered. Already picturing a nature-filled atmosphere. She was a nature lover so if it was as nice as Dan just explained then she was sure she is gonna love it.
- "Yes, it is." He replied.
- "In that case, I can't wait to get there," she added.
- "Soon nurse."
- Silence once again filled the car as it speeds through the highway. Laura watched as the trees flew by, The scenes were a somewhat interesting one. She rested her head back on the cat sit after watching for a while. She checked the time. It was after one in the afternoon. She hadn't eaten breakfast so she was feeling hungry.
- "Is there a place where I can eat when I get there? I didn't eat breakfast and now I am feeling kinda hungry." She asked breaking the silence.
- "Yes, the cook has been informed about our arrival so he will have something ready before we get there." He answered.
- "Okay, thanks."
- She replied. And closed her eyes. Sleeping is a nice way to get over hunger and the best way to pass out time.
- When she opened her eyes again there were in a small island-like place with very few houses scattered about. With the most beautiful scenery, she has ever seen
- "Wow, this is beautiful, I never knew a place like this was in existence." She said marveling at the beauty of the sight before her.
- "Yeah, welcome to the Clovers, very few people know of its existence it's like a getaway from the loud and busy town. And Devon lives in the most beautiful part. We are almost there."
- He said smiling at her. She smiled back. She liked Dan he was nice and despite his scary appearance, he made her feel comfortable.
- "It's will still take about thirty minutes to get to Devon's place though so you can fill your eyes with the beauty of Clovers in the main time." He added.
- And fill her eyes she did. The surrounding place was so beautiful it would be a sin not to admire it.
- She brought out her phone and took a few pictures and videos. She will share it with her co- nurses when she gets back to work. Speaking of her co- nurses she will have to call them when she finally arrived. Because although the director would have told them it will be nice if they hear from her. She knew if she doesn't call they will call her. For now, she will just enjoy the beautiful atmosphere before her.
