Chapter 8
- Wooow.... wait this is what they call a garden? It's so large. Their backyard is really pretty. Well I don't know much about gardens or nature. But it does look very pretty.. so well maintained, just like a park. With three benches on the side. I sat on the last bench that's right at the corner. Such a comfortable bench. Feels like heaven with these heels especially. I could actually sleep here. And they are well hidden!
- Sitting alone just let me think about my rash decisions in the previous few weeks. Now I doubt my intentions. They are such a kind, cute and perfect family. They might be making me feel uncomfortable right now. That's only cause their being cautious. After all I'm going to be their son's wife. Their only daughter in-law. But they were always so kind. And Nick? Yeah, I had a huge crush on him in school. I never even knew his name. And those two hours where I believed in the possibility that we'd be getting married.... felt like fantasy! A dream come true! But you always have to wake up after the dream and face the reality. So, I had to face his insult. How can I just blame him? It was obvious and right on his part to reject me. I have to agree I was ugly and boring at that time. And if he had to justify his decision by insulting me, then so be it. Because our parents are so stubborn, he couldn't have had another choice.Nick has always been so sweet,
- kind and considerate towards me. Just these two weeks were enough for me to know that. And I can't just destroy his entire life because I just want a stupid revenge over something no one even remembers. I thought I'd make him fall in love with me and ditch him on our wedding day... but a simple sorry would've been fine or I could get back at him by another way. Just not this. I think I'll probably tell him the truth and back off from this deal after we move out of this place. And whatever I decide will also affect his parents. It's not that I think so low of me or that I don't have confidence in myself to proceed with the plan. It's just that I felt like it's too childish on my part. I mean... it looks like a daily soap.. I'm just going to move on. That was a part of my life. A part of my past. I can't let that ruin my future. Or his.
- I got up from the bench determined to tell Nick about my decision when I heard familiar voices coming from inside the house.
- Nicholas's POV
- "Mom! What was all that about?" I said entering the kitchen but groaned at my parents. My dad was hugging her waist. This is how he helps her.
- "What?" My mom asked innocently.
- "What?! You're asking me 'What?' Seriously?" I asked ridiculed.
- "Don't use that tone with my wife boy!" My dad growled at me from behind her making my mom chuckle at him. What the hell is so funny?!
- "Oh you are no less Dad! Why were you looking at her that way? With those detective eyes. She felt so conscious. I don't know where I've brought her... poor her!" I said to them.
- "Don't worry son. My over excitement and your father's detective eyes will be justified soon. Even your father didn't believe me at first. But then he had to!" She grinned flipping her hair.
- Ugh! As if I understood a word. Don't ask me why I hate my parents. Those who never were worried about you, now suddenly care. Is that believable? No right?
- "Whatever" I said moving out of the kitchen.
- But before I was out of the door, I heard my mom say "Wait Nick! Listen before you go.... I'm just happy and proud of you that you chose her as your life partner!" I heard my mom from behind my shoulder.
- Really? Proud? Where did that come from.
- The doorbell! Who could it be? I'm sure Mom and Dad didn't invite anyone. I strictly informed them.
- "Oh our surprise is here!" My mom said rushing towards the door. And she opened it..... what is Uncle Gregorio's doing here with Aunt Elena and family? Oh Shit! Even their daughter and son are here! And that woman Rose is here as well. She practically jumps all over me whenever she finds me. Thank god! My parents don't like her too or else I would've been married to her.
- "Where is she? Where is she?" They suddenly asked with so much sadness and desperation. That's not 'so much'. It's just called too much of overacting. Who are they even asking for?
- Just then my soon to be princess entered with a frown on her face. May be she heard the noise..
- "Kate!" I heard Aunt Elena scream and they charged towards her hugging the life out of her.
- Kate? Kate! Now I get it. She is the woman I didn’t want to marry then. She is the woman I chose to marry now? I found her pleading eyes. She knew who I was all along. Then why didn't she tell me who she was!
