Chapter 9 Pushing His Limits

  • Allison frowned slightly when she heard the butler's thoughts but stayed calm. "Before we go upstairs, I have a few questions for you."
  • The butler found her behavior strange, but he nodded respectfully. "Mrs. Korsak, go ahead."
  • "What do you think about Mr. Korsak's relationship with me?" Allison asked calmly, looking at him.
  • Her demeanor seemed distant and detached, leaving the butler momentarily perplexed. He couldn't help but sense an imposing aura from Mrs. Korsak today, almost rivaling Mr. Korsak's. The butler felt pressured just being around Allison. Moreover, her choice of attire boasted a striking elegance and exuded a certain confidence.
  • The butler quickly responded candidly. "Mrs. Korsak, though Mr. Korsak may appear distant at times, he genuinely treats you well. If you reconsider the divorce, there's potential for a harmonious relationship."
  • "Do you think I previously reacted too strongly about the divorce?" Allison probed further.
  • The butler nodded. "Mrs. Korsak, Mr. Korsak has always shown considerable leniency toward you. However, your unsanctioned departure from the villa pushed his limits," he remarked brazenly, "Mrs. Korsak, I've always found myself puzzled. Mr. Korsak is handsome, hails from a respectable background, and garners plenty of admirers. Why do you find yourself discontent?"
  • Allison remained quiet. The previous inhabitant of her body appeared to have a flair for the dramatic. It seemed she needed to take decisive action to prove her value and earn Asher's trust.
  • Noticing Allison's frozen in her spot, the butler gently reminded her, "Mrs. Korsak, Mr. Korsak has been awaiting your presence in the study for quite some time. It would be best to head upstairs promptly."
  • Allison nodded and instructed the butler calmly, "Lead the way, then."
  • Once more, the butler found himself surprised. Mrs. Korsak seems to be quite different today...
  • Upon catching the butler's thoughts, Allison couldn't help but wrinkle her brows slightly. Nevertheless, she retained her composed demeanor. "Is there a problem?" she inquired.
  • "None at all," the butler quickly replied meekly. "Mrs. Korsak, please follow me."
  • Shortly after, the butler escorted Allison to the study's entrance. "Mrs. Korsak, we've arrived at the study. Would you like me to knock on the door?"
  • Allison shook her head apathetically. "You may go." The butler nodded and left promptly.
  • Meanwhile, Allison gathered herself at the doorway. Just as she poised to knock, the study door swung open unexpectedly. Standing before her was a striking and commanding figure. Unfazed, Allison addressed him calmly. "Mr. Korsak, shall we talk?"
  • Yet, the man didn't spare her a glance, simply commanding, "Enter!" before turning and disappearing into the study.
  • Allison's brow furrowed. Isn't the original Allison his wife? Is this the treatment I can expect? It was no wonder the original Allison sought a divorce. Nonetheless, she followed him into the study, maintaining her composure.
  • Seated behind the desk, the man tossed a document in front of her and said, "Sign it!"
  • As Allison examined the document, a sense of injustice washed over her. It was a contract designed to restrict her personal freedom. She coldly confronted him, "What's the meaning of this, Mr. Korsak?!"
