• "Oh my goodness, she's home!” I heard Kira scream from the terrace. She rushed downstairs and threw her arms around me in a tight hug, almost squeezing the breath out of me, but then quickly pulled away.
• Her eyes scanned me from head to toe, and her face flickered with several emotions – relief that I was back and maybe a slight disappointment, too. I could see it in her eyes. If Kira was this emotional, I wondered how D'Angelo would react. But that was the least of my worries right now.
