• 'It's the only way I can keep you safe Scarlett. ' Alpha Jaxon insisted. My wolf wagged her tail at the mere imagination of us carrying his mark. I on the other hand didn't like his insistence on marking me. It felt as if he was using the imminent assaults to get his way.
• 'No. ' I shook my head, ignoring the hole that had began to form on my chest. His face dropped, a downward curve of his lips forming briefly. Then it was all gone faster as if I had just imagined it, replaced by a blank look. I placed my hands on his chest, trying to push him off me. The proximity was making it hard for me to think sagaciously. The heat that emanated from his muscular body made my nerves tingle.
