• Every head turned to me, gasps ringing out from one corner to the other in waves. I looked forward at Alec and especially fixated my gaze on Maria who did not seem only shocked that I was there but also dumbfounded. I noticed her fake lashes flutter slightly. People began to pave the way for me as I walked towards them. I avoided looking at Alec because I did not want to know the kind of expression that would be on his face. Reaching the podium, I stopped and met his mother’s angry stare.
• “Why would you willingly accept what is not yours, Mariander?” I asked, dragging my gaze away from his mother and perching it on her. She blinked, her mouth opening to speak but before she could, I cut in. “This crown is mine, considering I am mated to Alec, and since he is the Alpha then I should be the Luna. Isn't that right, Alec?” I asked, glancing at him and he blinked twice before nodding in agreement.
