Chapter 6 Selenophile Five-one
- If he wanted to follow his desires, Oscar would surely join Era in bed. After all, it was his bed, his room. But Ursa convinced Oscar that Era needed rest. Despite her physical injuries and fatigue, she had also experienced shock several times. Sleeping together and other surprising scenes were clearly not good for her.
- So, Oscar reluctantly moved to another room that Aaron had prepared. He lay down on the bed and stayed awake until morning.
- Oscar gathered Philo, Aaron, and Ursa. They sat at a round table in the garden, where several delicious dishes were served, and ate breakfast together.
- "So, Philo."
- Philo had just picked up his fork and knife and was about to take the first bite, but Oscar spoke to him. So, he put the utensils back down.
- "What about Mosha? Have you dealt with him?"
- Philo nodded. "Yes, Alpha. They are no longer of this world."
- "Good," Oscar said as he enjoyed his breakfast. "I'm sure he would continue to look for Era. If it can be solved sooner, why wait longer, right?"
- "Exactly, Alpha. I feel the same way since it turns out that Era was used as collateral by her father."
- Oscar's fork and knife came to a halt. With a slightly bent posture, he looked at his plate and asked to be sure.
- "Used as collateral by her father?"
- "That's what I heard, Alpha," Philo replied. He then explained, "Era's father, Amias Ross, was in quite a bit of debt to Mosha. He was known for his drinking, gambling, womanizing and drug use."
- Oscar sighed several times as he moved the fork and knife around in his hands. "He hoarded all the unhappiness in the world. Luckily Era lives here now."
- Philo just nodded and remained silent for a moment. He decided not to start eating yet, just in case Oscar asked something else.
- Oscar looked over. "Aren't you eating, Philo? Do you want another menu? Like what? Call the waiter."
- "No, Alpha," Philo replied and quickly began to eat. He reassured the Alpha, "This breakfast is very tasty."
- "You haven't tasted it yet and already say it's delicious? Well."
- Philo became awkward.
- "In that case, eat a lot for breakfast."
- Philo closed his eyes and breathed deeply. He felt relieved, and he was really enjoying breakfast.
- "Oh, by the way."
- Philo's body tensed immediately, but not for long. He realized that Oscar was not talking to him this time.
- "What about the preparations for the Sacred Ceremony next month, Aaron? Have you arranged everything?"
- Aaron interrupted his breakfast and nodded. "Yes, Alpha. Even though the Sacred Ceremony won't take place until next month, I prepared everything early this morning. At exactly three o'clock everything was ready. Nothing is missing."
- "Are you mocking me, Aaron?"
- Oscar's narrowed eyes met Aaron's small smile. He shook his head. "Not at all, Alpha. I didn't mean to mock, but it seems you are indeed too enthusiastic."
- "I consider it a compliment," Oscar replied with an annoyed look on his face. "Besides, isn't it better to be prepared sooner rather than later? Now you can concentrate on other things."
- Aaron was not sure. The Sacred Ceremony did not require extensive preparations. Just torches, special scents, and freshly hunted meat. It would not take him long to get everything ready. On the contrary, freshly hunted meat was usually prepared closer to the event.
- Once again, however, Aaron realized that this had to do with the emotional turmoil and worries that Oscar had been carrying for years. So, he refrained from much discussion and prepared everything. He had sent a werewolf out to hunt last night, although he was not sure if he would actually use the hunted meat for the Sacred Ceremony. He would hunt for fresh meat again when the crucial night approached.
- "I almost forgot. Perhaps you can accompany Era for a while, Aaron. It seems she needs time to adjust here and I think a human would be her best friend right now."
- Aaron nodded. "Of course, Alpha. I will gladly accompany her."
- "Remember," Oscar continued with a hint of caution, even the fork in his hand paused for a moment. "Do not tell her anything strange about me."
- "Of course not, Alpha."
- Oscar ignored Aaron's weak, restrained chuckle. He just snorted briefly and intended to continue his breakfast before he remembered something else.
- Ursa dramatically closed her eyes. She realized it was her turn now. After Philo and Aaron, it was undoubtedly her time to be bombarded with questions by Oscar.
- "Ursa."
- Ursa opened her eyes and stopped her breakfast. "Yes, Alpha?"
- "Good job on your work. So, do you want a vacation? The summer is still long."
- Ursa was stunned. It took her a few seconds to process Oscar's praise and offer. "Vacation, Alpha?"
- "Yes, vacation. Tell me, is there a place you would like to visit? Hawaii? Bali? I'll let Aaron take care of everything."
- Ursa's stunned face and foolish expression made Aaron's chuckle audible again. Philo glanced over and was reluctantly impressed. Apparently, only Aaron could be so relaxed in front of Oscar. Strangely enough, Oscar never seemed to get angry with Aaron, not even for a reprimand.
- "I hope you're not jealous, Aaron. You can't take a vacation."
- "I'm not jealous at all, Alpha," Aaron said as he grabbed a glass. He moistened his throat and continued. "In fact, I'm grateful that you seem to be paying attention to Ursa. She needs a vacation after everything that happened."
- Oscar did not comment. He just glanced at Aaron briefly before turning his attention back to Ursa.
- "You heard what Aaron said, right? At least relax your mind with a vacation."
- It was a good idea, but Ursa shook his head. "Thank you, Alpha, but it seems that now is not the time for me to take a vacation."
- Ursa thought about Era. They all understood Ursa's concerns, and Oscar almost missed the most important thing.
- "You're right. She's still in shock. Maybe you won't go anywhere for now. You and Aaron should go with her."
- Saying that, Oscar became restless. He finished his breakfast. He downed a glass of water and took a deep breath, then leaned back in his chair.
- "I will be grateful to you, Ursa, if she can get over her shock quickly. You must find a way for her to accept reality. At least make her aware of the existence of werewolves. It would be even better if you could convince her of our destiny. I'm afraid she might try to escape from here."
- Ursa had no choice but to nod, though hesitantly. "Alright, Alpha."
- "Actually, Alpha."
- Aaron's voice was heard. He decided to dive into the topic after catching a glimpse of doubt on Ursa's face. It was a mixture of amusement and pity. Although he did not want to see Ursa complaining about his growing gray hair as usual.
- "You just have to be patient until the night of the Sacred Ceremony. Everything will surely... Ah!" Aaron sighed and shook his head. "Sorry, Alpha. You just can't be patient that long."
- Oscar rolled his eyes. "If it can be done sooner, why wait longer?"
- "Unfortunately, everything needs time and a process, Alpha. Besides, it's a big thing that has to be accepted by her step by step. I can't imagine that if you push her, you'll transform right in front of her."
- Oscar and Ursa remained silent. They exchanged glances for a moment, then Oscar sighed and looked away.
- Aaron was confused. "Alpha, you don't want to scare her, do you?"
- Oscar did not answer. Ursa, pressured by Aaron and Philo's curious looks, nodded, causing them to dramatically close their eyes.
- "Breakfast is over," Oscar said as he stood up. He looked at the clock and spoke to Philo. "Let's go. We need to check out the newly arrived horses today."
- "Alright, Alpha."
- After Oscar and Philo left, Ursa and Aaron stayed behind. They did not say anything, but they both understood.
- "Come on, Ursa. At least you can breathe easy now. Now, enjoy your breakfast."
