Chapter 4 Selenophile Four-one

  • Era was absolutely sure that the injury to her head was no joke; it could even be said to be more serious than she first thought. That stone earlier must have caused the blood vessels in her head to burst, causing her to lose her mind.
  • "Alpha? So, the Alpha mentioned is not a name? Instead, it's a title for the leader of the werewolf pack? Oh, how absurd."
  • Era closed her eyes. Her hand went up to her head, and then she shook it. "I must still be unconscious."
  • Oscar turned to Landon. "Why her?"
  • "Just a moment," Landon said as he approached. He approached Era. "Stay calm, Alpha. I'll examine her."
  • Oscar reluctantly stepped aside, giving Landon room to examine Era. He watched with crossed arms, his face showing signs of discomfort.
  • "How is she? Is she okay?"
  • Landon checked the IV flow and sighed briefly. "I'm pretty sure she's fine. She just seems to be... in shock."
  • "Shock?"
  • Landon nodded. He watched Era's expression as she exhaled. "Her face looks like a normal human in shock."
  • "Don't be ridiculous, Landon," Oscar grumbled as he moved and sat back on the bed. "She can't possibly—"
  • "Luna? Alpha? Oh, God. Am I crazy or am I still unconscious and having strange dreams?"
  • Oscar's words were cut off and he stared. "It looks like you're right, Landon. She is indeed in shock."
  • "I can understand her confusion."
  • Landon tried to stifle a chuckle. He turned to open the medical supplies and took out a small bottle of medicine. He studied the label carefully before moving on to a sealed syringe.
  • "It looks like she needs more rest. Her body is injured and she's tired. Adequate sleep will surely speed up her recovery. Besides, that's how werewolves are."
  • Era was stunned. Landon's words interrupted her shock. Her hand fell from her head, and then she looked at the IV.
  • "What is that?"
  • Landon had just injected the medicine into the IV bag. "Just medicine to help you rest peacefully."
  • "Medicine?"
  • Era's eyes widened as fear began to creep in. Her fear escalated and she forced herself to stand up. She wanted to leave the bed, but Oscar quickly stopped her.
  • "You can't go anywhere, Azerra. You need to rest."
  • Era froze. "You know my name?"
  • "Of course, I do."
  • "How do you know?"
  • Oscar looked at Era's backpack on the table. "As a law-abiding citizen, you have an ID."
  • Era dramatically closed her eyes. But that did not diminish her original intention. She tried to push Oscar's hand away.
  • "I have to go."
  • Oscar stood firm. "You're not going anywhere. This is where you should be. Near me. Luna should always be with the Alpha."
  • "No," Era insisted, shaking her head, and pushing away Oscar's hand that tried to hold her. "I'm no one's Luna. As you know, my name is Azera. Azera Cordelia Ross. I am Era and I have to leave right now."
  • "You can't go anywhere."
  • Era insisted. "I have to leave. I have to get out of here or I will really go crazy."
  • Desperation made Era groan. Her eyes darted wildly in all directions. Sweat appeared and ran down the sides of her face. She looked truly disoriented.
  • "I told you, Era. You're not going anywhere."
  • Era's determination met a worthy resistance from Oscar. She kept trying to get off the bed while Oscar made sure she would not move an inch.
  • The panic became more chaotic. Era became more and more overwhelmed with worry. Her efforts were futile, and worse, she was beginning to feel the effects of the medicine Landon had injected into her IV earlier.
  • Era felt her body grow heavy; she could not even move her tongue. Her voice faded and her vision began to blur.
  • "See?"
  • Oscar's voice sounded weak. Era blinked, trying to fend off Oscar's hand reaching for her body.
  • "You need rest, Era. So go to sleep."
  • Strangely, those words were like an irresistible spell for Era. In the end, she was powerless. She looked at Oscar's face for the last time before she lost consciousness in the warmth that felt incredibly peaceful—his embrace.
  • Oscar sighed deeply. He watched Era fall asleep on his chest and shook his head.
  • "Stubborn girl."
  • Landon smiled and helped Oscar put Era down. "I'm sure she's like someone."
  • Oscar's eyes narrowed and Landon quickly tidied up the medical supplies. His expression showed amusement, as if he was sure Oscar would not strangle him with the IV tube.
  • "She'll wake up much fresher in the morning. I'll say goodbye."
  • Landon left. Oscar was left alone with Ursa, who had chosen to remain silent the whole time. Apparently, she felt there was no need to say anything when Era's presence had explained more than enough.
  • Ursa sighed in relief for the umpteenth time. Now she truly felt free of the fear that had plagued her for years.
  • "So, what do I do, Ursa?"
  • Ursa's relief was cut short. The Alpha asked a question that puzzled her a bit.
  • "What do you mean, Alpha?"
  • Oscar took a breath and looked at Era with a furrowed brow. "What do I have to do to convince Era that she's my mate? Um, also that she's a werewolf. You saw her reaction before, didn't you? It seems that she really doesn't know that she's a werewolf."
  • Ursa understood, and she felt relieved again; her vision was not wrong.
  • "As I suspected, Alpha. There must be some magic binding her wolf spirit. So, all we have to do is perform the Sacred Ceremony. Her wolf spirit will be freed, and after that, her wolf spirit will guide her, including informing her of your destinies."
  • "Sacred ceremony?" Oscar repeated in a questioning tone. He reached out and smoothed Era's hair. "When can you do it? Tomorrow night? I'll have Aaron prepare everything for the Sacred Ceremony tonight."
  • "Alpha."
  • Ursa's voice almost choked. She grimaced with a helpless expression. She realized that it was reasonable for Oscar to insist, but that didn't mean she wasn't shocked by the request.
  • "I can only perform the Sacred Ceremony during a full moon, Alpha. I'm afraid you'll have to wait until next month."
