Chapter 4 The Billionaire Wants Me

  • I sat silently in the car as it sped through the highway; a lot of thoughts were going through my mind. Why did the billionaire want to see me? I didn't even know him, and I do not remember doing anything wrong either that could warrant that. Perhaps they were looking for a different person, but it can’t be, because I am the only lady that goes by the name Nora in that restaurant.
  • Not long after, the car drove to the front of a large gate and honked, the gate was opened immediately and the cars drove in. After they had parked, one of the bodyguards opened the door and let me out. I was astonished by the sight before me.
  • A very gigantic mansion stood before me and I wondered how many people lived here, the house could contain four families. By the left hand were the servant’s quarters and by the right was a garden. Not too far from the garden was a swimming pool.
  • “This way ma`am,” one of the bodyguards brought back my attention and I nodded.
  • The man led me into the main building, we walked into a large hallway and I could see so many beautiful statues used to decorate the hallway, there were also some portraits hanging on the wall. I saw a sculpture of an eagle which I found amazing. There were so many beautiful artworks and paintings on the wall. I guess the owner of the house must be a lover of art.
  • The bodyguard led me to the left, through another hallway and then, we arrived at a large sitting room. It was painted blue with white and blue special curtains to match; the floor was made of sparkling white tiles that showed my reflection.
  • “Okay, you can sit here ma`am, be a little patient for the boss to arrive,” the man instructed.
  • It was not like I had any choice, I nodded and sat down on the comfy couch, the material was smooth and silky to my touch, and it was waterproof. I had not seen such expensive furniture before.
  • My eyes darted around the room when I was left alone, I was now feeling a bit comfortable and the nervousness had left her. Everything was amazing, the large flat screen TV on the wall, I had not seen one that huge, and the chandelier, it was amazing, radiating light like the sun.
  • “Hello, sorry to keep you waiting,” a voice jolted me back to reality.
  • I turned to where I had walked in from and my jaws slacked, what I was seeing could not be true, how was it possible? Was this the billionaire getting married? But he was the same man…

  • After I disconnected the call with my mother, I lay on my couch in thoughts. I was thinking of a way to make this wedding happen and not embarrass myself and my parents. Tina was now a complete ghost, there is no trace of her in the city and I am unable to contact anyone who knows her whereabouts.
  • Tina is an orphan, but not a poor orphan. She is a very strong woman from a rich dynasty; wealth runs in her family blood, too bad that her parents only had her. She was the last heir of the Peller family and if she was not a badass business minded woman like her parents, then their rivals might have wiped her out of existence.
  • At this point, I had no idea what to do. Just then something that had totally escaped his mind came bouncing back; the girl who I had met last night at the restaurant, she seemed very nice and concerned.
  • Just then an idea came to my mind. Since my wedding was in a few days time and I needed a bride to show my parents, perhaps I should find a temporary replacement, I should get a new bride just for the occasion and to convince my parents, then after the wedding, we could go our different ways.
  • Nora would be the right person for the job; she was kind and good hearted so she could impress my parents. She would also gain from it; I would pay her in return for her services.
  • Without wasting more time, I sent my bodyguard to go and get her from the restaurant; it was the same restaurant where I was supposed to get married in a few days.
  • * * * * * Nora’s POV * * * * *
  • I was surprised to see that the man who had dropped me off last night was the billionaire about to get married. He was nicely dressed in a body fitting t-shirt and jean pants, on his legs were white sneakers. He had a single piercing on his left ear lobe with a black dot earring on it.
  • I made to stand up but he signaled me to remain seated which I obeyed.
  • “You… You are … you are the man from last night,” I stuttered in surprise, as the memories of the previous night flashed through my mind.
  • “Yes that is true,” he replied plainly and came to sit beside me. “I need your help,” he muttered.
  • I was not sure I heard right. Does he need my help? But how can a nobody like me be of help to him? He said it himself that I was in no position to help.
  • “Um… How? And did you find a solution to your problem last night? You said I was in no position to help, so what made you change your mind?”
  • “Well, I might have been wrong about that. As you might know, I am supposed to get married this weekend, but things have gone wrong, my bride has gone missing.” He announced.
  • “What?” I muttered in surprise, jaws slacked, bug-eyed.
  • “Yes, but not actually that kind of missing, I am sure that she is fine but I can’t just reach her, I am unable to contact her and I don’t have much time on my side.”
  • “But you could postpone the wedding,” I suggested.
  • “No I can’t, it’s too late to do so now, a lot of things and people are involved, it’s necessary that I get married in the next six days.”
  • I was confused. Why was he in such a hurry and since his bride was missing, how was he going to go about it? He said he needed my help, but how can I help him? I am not a special investigator, a CIA, FBI or some sort of detective.
  • “So what do you plan to do?” I queried.
  • “That is why I need your help,” he replied softly, while staring straight into my eyes.
  • “My help? But how do I help you?” I asked curiously.
  • He was quiet for a while, staring at me and that made her nervous, those piercing grey eyes were intimidating for me.
  • “Miss Nora Tan, I want you to marry me.”
  • My eyes widened on hearing that, I couldn’t possibly have heard right.
  • “Wait… what?” I yelled.
  • To be continued!!
