Chapter 2 Greedy Woman
- The door to the CEO's office at Ashworth Corporation was knocked on.
- "Come in."
- Rhys, Ashworth Corporation's chief legal counsel, pushed the door open and walked over to Flint with a document folder in hand. His expression was subtly conflicted.
- Flint looked up from his paperwork and, seeing it was Rhys, casually asked, "She still won't sign?"
- His tone was indifferent, and even when discussing the divorce, there wasn't a hint of emotion on his face.
- "No, Mrs. Ashworth has signed. But…"
- Rhys hesitated.
- "But what?"
- "She made some changes regarding the asset division."
- Rhys handed the documents over to Flint.
- "Haha! So she thinks I'm not giving her enough?" Flint sneered.
- Of course, just another greedy woman. No matter how much she pretended to love him, it could never outweigh the lure of money.
- Rhys pressed his lips together and stayed silent.
- Flint didn't wait for him to say more. But when he pulled out the divorce agreement signed by Lucille, his expression froze for a moment.
- The agreement was just a single sheet, far thinner than the stack of papers detailing the assets he originally intended to give her.
- It stated that Lucille would leave the marriage with nothing, forfeiting all claims.
- In addition, there was a share transfer agreement that detailed the transfer of her 5% stake in Ashworth Corporation to Flint, free of charge, with a notarized certification attached.
- The same Lucille who had stubbornly refused to divorce him yesterday had not only signed the papers today but had also given up every cent she was entitled to, along with something that was rightfully hers.
- For a brief moment, Flint's expression turned blank as he tried to make sense of what Lucille could be up to now.
- "Did she say anything else?"
- Flint couldn't believe that Lucille would just agree to the divorce this easily.
- She had manipulated his grandfather into forcing the marriage, clawing her way to the title of Mrs. Ashworth. Flint found it hard to imagine she'd let it go without a fight.
- His frown deepened as he gripped the divorce papers tightly, the pressure leaving creases in the document.
- Standing nearby, his assistant Sebastian Muller noticed Flint's darkening expression and assumed Lucille's revisions must have been unreasonable, leading him to silently scorn her.
- Sebastian had been present when Flint had Rhys draft the original divorce agreement. He knew that the terms were more than generous, leaving Lucille well off. If even that wasn't enough, it made him seriously question whether Lucille ever loved Flint, or if it was the wealth she was after.
- Curious, he discreetly glanced at the revised agreement. But when he read the content, he was just as stunned as Flint.
- She was walking away with nothing, and even gifting Flint the shares that Old Master Ashworth had given her?
- Sebastian never would have guessed that Lucille's changes would result in her leaving the marriage empty-handed, with the added "gift" of handing over her shares to Flint.
- Though 5% might not seem like much, those shares in Ashworth Corporation were valuable enough that the dividends alone could have supported her comfortably for the rest of her life.
- "That's all. Ms. Stuart asked that you arrange a time soon to finalize the divorce."
- Rhys' response didn't bring Flint the relief of finally getting rid of Lucille. Instead, an unfamiliar irritation crept into his chest.
