Chapter 7 The Work Plan

• What the actual fuck! THE SAGE ENTERPRISES. I sit there looking as if I had just seen a ghost. The world suddenly is quiet and I am oblivious of everything happening around me. I can’t hear what Leo and Adrian are trying to say to me and it is like my mind just went blank. What did I get myself into? Ellie no…you cannot take this job. Is it so obvious that something is bugging me? That last question leads me to excuse myself and head to the bathroom to collect myself.
• “Fuck!” I scream once I enter the bathroom not even thinking of the two girls in there. They look at me as if I had lost it and I honestly don’t blame them, at this point I think I HAVE lost it. I go to the sink and wash my face maybe I am just in a really bad dream but after that wash, I realize how real this is. I just stole from the company some days ago then I meet the owner to help him with his company?! The chances of him getting to know I was behind all this just rose at a high speed. What am I going to do? I need to make a decision fast before they notice that I have spent quite some time in the bathroom. I need this money and I lost my pendant on the day of the heist and I have been looking for it ever since. I might have a chance to look for it in the company and find it before the police do. Had the police already found it wouldn’t I be in jail now? That means it is in the company or I dropped it somewhere else. Taking the job will allow me to confirm that and get the job. If I play my cards right I will kill two birds with one stone. I have to take this job. I am a smart woman, I can handle this. After the pep talk and five minutes of looking in the mirror to convince myself that I have this in control, I walk out of the bathroom looking more composed than I walked in.
