Chapter 6 The Unwelcoming Home

• At such a crucial moment when their lives were on the line, Han Jianfeng still had the mood to taunt him.
• After sending out the message, Leng Yechen switched off his phone and kept it away before glancing at Han Jianfeng with his dark and cold eyes. He raised an eyebrow and challenged him, “My life was saved by my wife. Do you have any problem with that?”
• “You have a wife? When did this happen? How come I’ve no idea of this?” Stunned, Han Jianfeng stared at him incredulously.
• The corners of Leng Yechen’s lips curled slightly upward into a knowing smile. “It happened last night…” It all started with a kiss!
• He met a woman who was not only a great cook, she also had some medical knowledge too. She had saved his life without asking for anything in return, and she was a very kind-hearted person with a heart as pure and innocent as snow.
• Inside a cubicle of the design and decoration company where Liang Yimo was hard at work, she sneezed all of a sudden.
• At that moment, her team leader, Yang Yang, suddenly made his way over and rested his arms on the glass partition of her cubicle. “Yimo, why is Manxue absent from work today?”
• “Is she not here?”
• Astonished, Liang Yimo looked up from her computer. As she was up to her neck with work, she did not even notice Su Manxue’s absence today.
• “Yes! She’s still not here yet! Aren’t you two staying together? Didn’t you two come to the office together just now?” Yang Yang bombarded her with a barrage of questions.
• Instinctively, Liang Yimo looked at Su Manxue’s desk which was located in front of her, only to find there was indeed no sight of her.
• Pointing at the wall clock, Yang Yang grumbled in annoyance, “Since she’s your housemate as well as your bestie, please give her a call. I have a lot of work waiting for her!”
• “Okay, I’ll call her!” Smiling in resignation, Liang Yimo fished out her phone and dialed Su Manxue’s number.
• Despite several attempts, Manxue did not pick up her call. It was only at that moment she realized she had an unread message from an unknown number.
• ‘Manxue, please wait for me at home.’ The message was sent from the phone number 158xxxxxxx1.
• After reading the message, Liang Yimo replied to it in confusion.
• ‘You are?’
• She did not get a reply after a long time.
• She could not help but wonder who was the sender of the message and the reason why the sender addressed her as Manxue. Had the sender actually made a mistake?
• Before long, she put behind all the questions in her mind and stopped taking them seriously because her priority for the time being was to complete the design blueprint as soon as possible.
• She only received a reply from the unknown sender moments before she was about to get off work.
• It was only after Leng Yechen completed his task did he notice a message from ‘Su Manxue’.
• His jittery mood from dealing with the thugs was lifted a great deal because of her message.
• Without thinking much, Leng Yechen replied to the message.
• ‘It’s your fiancé.’
• Fiancé?!
• Liang Yimo was confused when she saw the message from the unknown sender. Why didn’t she know that Manxue had a fiancé? Could he be someone introduced to her by her family members?
• Out of kindness, Liang Yimo replied to the person.
• ‘Hi, it seems like you’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Manxue but her bestie. Manxue’s phone number is 139xxxxxxxx8. Only the last digit of her number is different from mine.’
• As Su Manxue and her applied for a sim card at college together, their phone numbers were consecutive numbers which differed by only the last digit.
• The last digit of Su Manxue’s phone number was 8 whereas the last digit of her phone number was 9.
• Leng Yechen was stunned at the sight of Liang Yimo’s message. Immediately, he verified the phone number with the one in Kai’s message he received this morning to find that he did not make a mistake.
• Kai’s phone had the record of the girl’s phone number as Leng Yechen had used her phone to call him last night. Did Kai type in the phone number with the wrong last digit?
• At that moment, he received another message from the phone number 139xxxxxxx9.
• ‘If you can reach Manxue, please tell her to call me back. I’m very worried about her because she hasn’t been picking up my calls at all, and she was absent from work today.’
• ‘I sent my men to pick her up.’ After reading the message from Liang Yimo, Leng Yechen immediately gave her a reply. Mr. Liu had informed him that he had already picked Su Manxue up and she had been arranged to stay at Hill Mansion in the east region of Coastal City.
• Since Manxue had a friend who cared so much about her, did that indirectly mean she was quite good with people?
• Holding the phone in his hands, Leng Yechen put on a meaningful smile.
• Before Liang Yimo could check the message from him, she finally got a call from Su Manxue.
• “Manxue, why didn’t you come to work today? Are you unwell?” Liang Yimo asked with concern after taking the call.
• Su Manxue answered her indifferently, “I’m fine. Help me send a resignation letter to the boss. I’m going to quit!”
• “Manxue, did something happen to you?” Liang Yimo could not help but feel apprehensive when she heard Su Manxue’s icy tone.
• Still sounding icy, Su Manxue replied, “I’m fine and I’ve already gone back home! By the way, let’s not contact each other again. Don’t ever mention me to anyone else and don’t even tell anyone I’m your friend. In short, Yimo, let’s end our friendship!”
• “End our friendship? Hold on, Manxue, what exactly is going on with you?” Liang Yimo was puzzled. She had no idea what exactly had taken place between them that led Su Manxue to make the decision to end their friendship.
• Beep…
• Instead of answering her, Su Manxue straightaway hung up on her.
• Looking at the screen of her phone showing that the call had ended, Liang Yimo was befuddled.

• At that moment, Yang Yang made his way over to ask about Su Manxue again. “Yimo, will she come to work tomorrow?”
• “I’m afraid she won’t be coming anymore in the future.” Liang Yimo shrugged slightly.

• “Manxue? Manxue?” Liang Yimo tried calling her name several times but she got no response. So she fished out her phone and dialed Su Manxue’s number again.
• Su Manxue picked up her call after a long while.
• “Manxue, where have you gone for the entire day?” Liang Yimo asked with concern. After having a hectic day, she had completely forgotten about Su Manxue’s request to end their friendship in the morning.
• Su Manxue answered her with frustration, “Didn’t I already make it very clear to you this morning? Why are you still calling me?”
