Chapter 11 Marrying Your Entire Family
- Both of them pulled and tugged in the corridor. Afraid that his reputation might be damaged, He Mingxu just grabbed Liang Yimo’s hand and quickly pulled her down the stairs to a quiet backstreet.
- There was only one street light on at the backstreet, so they couldn’t even clearly see the passersby on the dark road.
- Liang Yimo shook off He Mingxu’s hand and didn’t ask any questions. She just stood beside the wall in a daze without uttering a word.
- Sticking both hands in his pockets, He Mingxu bowed his head and sighed deeply. “Actually, I’ve only ever seen you as a sister.”
- “You didn’t tell me that in the past, and you’re only telling me this now. Were you just going to let things slide?” Liang Yimo questioned him in a hoarse voice.
- Immediately, He Mingxu furrowed his eyebrows and replied impatiently, “Yimo, don’t make it sound so bad. Although we were classmates in high school and we’re both from the countryside, I’m an undergraduate with a bright future while you’re just a junior college student. In the future, you’ll only be able to find a stable yet meager-income job. Besides, for the past year, you only gave me money to spend just because you wanted to invest in me. That way, when I become successful in the future, I’ll have to marry you and offer you a life in this big city!”
- “Is that what you think of me?” Liang Yimo stared at He Mingxu in disbelief.
- He Mingxu looked at Liang Yimo and asked her back, “If not? You’re this kind of girl anyway!”
- “If that’s the case, I want you to return all the money I gave you this year along with interest!” Liang Yimo angrily extended her hand to He Mingxu.
- He Mingxu gave Liang Yimo a glance and pursed his lips while slightly turning his body to the side. “See? My judgement was right. You’re indeed that kind of girl. Forget it. You’re a girl from the countryside after all. Having no aspiration is one thing. The worst is that all you care about is money, and that’s just hopeless.”
- “You!” Liang Yimo raised her hand and ground her teeth in anger as she pointed at He Mingxu’s nose. Yet, words could not come out of her mouth.
- He Mingxu took out his wallet from his pocket and took all the money in it out. Then, he stuffed it into Liang Yimo’s hand which was still pointed straight at him.
- “Yimo, you’re not worthy of me. Your identity, academics and family background won’t be good enough for me in the future. Besides, if I marry you later on, it’s equivalent to marrying your entire family. Not only do I have to support you, I also have to support your stingy mother, crippled father and even your good-for-nothing brother. I’ll be exhausted. Take this money first, and just take it as my compensation to you. When I finish my postgraduate studies and land a nice job, I’ll return your money to you, both principal and interest!” He Mingxu sighed while shaking his head, lamenting.
- However, Liang Yimo threw the money in He Mingxu’s face.
- Perplexed, He Mingxu stared at Liang Yimo. He wasn’t angry at her impudent action at all. Crouching down, he picked up the money note by note.
- Stupefied, Liang Yimo stared at He Mingxu as he picked up the money and put it back in his wallet.
- At the same time, He Mingxu was still muttering, annoyed, “You’re the one who doesn’t want it. Forget it. I was wrong in the first place, so you have the right to be angry.”
- “He Mingxu, we were classmates in high school for three years, and we even dated in university for almost a year. I truly didn’t expect that you’d cheat and even fake your feelings!” Liang Yimo choked back her tears while talking.
- She never thought that while she was working and studying at the same time for him, visiting him every weekend to take care of him, he had another girlfriend in university without telling her, and they were even living together!
- After glancing at Liang Yimo, He Mingxu stayed silent for a few moments. Not knowing what to say, at last, he turned away and left without a word. Why should he stay here and fuss with that woman? Besides, the cat was out of the bag now, so from today onward, they would never cross paths again.
- Actually, Liang Yimo was prettier than Lin Ruoqin, but her background was inferior to Lin Ruoqin’s. Lin Ruoqin was a local of Coastal City. Her family owned a few houses in this city, and her parents were even backed by a big shot with an extremely strong background in the city.
- If he married Lin Ruoqin in the future, he would save ten years of hard work. But if he married Liang Yimo in the future, he would have to work hard for his whole life! With that comparison, it was only natural for He Mingxu to forsake Liang Yimo and choose Lin Ruoqin.
- Looking at He Mingxu’s receding figure until the darkness engulfed him, tears finally rolled down Liang Yimo’s face. She couldn’t cry during the most heartbreaking moment, but afterward, the flood dams finally let loose.
- Their love was so beautiful, but why did he have to shatter this beautiful love into pieces?
- It was not that He Mingxu never loved Liang Yimo, but this kind of love could not withstand the challenge of harsh reality. It was impossible for him to continuously run a marathon of platonic love with her. Therefore, he had to abandon her for his own good.
- Liang Yimo went to He Mingxu’s dorm and retrieved her luggage.
- He Mingxu’s roommates, Zhang Haichang and Fang Haobo were concerned for Liang Yimo, but seeing the strong smile on her face, they only briefly consoled her and sent her to the long-distance bus station with Ma Zhijie.
- Before leaving, Ma Zhijie said seriously, “Yimo, please don’t be angry with me. You’re a nice girl, so I didn’t want you to be kept in the dark. You’ll surely meet a man who you love and loves you in return and takes care of you.”
- “Exactly! He Mingxu is a douchebag. Don’t be too sad!” Zhang Haichang chimed in.
- Fang Haobo couldn’t hold back and consoled her as well, “He Mingxu might be a douchebag but the three of us aren’t. In this world, there are still good men. So don’t give up on love. Yimo, please stay the way you are now!”
- “Alright. Thank you, guys.” Liang Yimo smiled gratifyingly. At least these three boys were sincere and kind to her.
- “It seems like nobody is going to help us wash our laundry in the future!” Zhang Haichang sighed.
- Fang Haobo immediately smacked Zhang Haichang’s head. “B*stard, can’t you wash your own clothes?”
- Liang Yimo couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
- “The bus is about to leave. Yimo, you should get on now. Be careful on the journey and stay safe,” Ma Zhijie urged.
- After Liang Yimo nodded and waved them goodbye, she turned and got onto the bus, embarking on her journey home. After the bus started its engine, it slowly drove away from the station.
- Fang Haobo wrapped one of his arms around Ma Zhijie’s shoulders while slinging his other on Zhang Haichang’s shoulders. The three of them walked together in a line.
- While walking, Fang Haobo asked, “Zhijie, do you like Yimo?”
- Zhang Haichang turned and patted Ma Zhijie’s chest. “Of course he likes her. Since you met Yimo, you must have suffered as her secret admirer for the past year!”
