Chapter 2
- Patrick’s POV
- "Stay away from me!"
- I gazed into the distance in the surveillance tower of the Pack House. This was where the guards patrolled to monitor the borders, allowing a view of all the boundaries of the Black Thorn Pack, including the Shadow Forest.
- I couldn't tell how long I had been standing there. I watched as the woman in the distance kept kicking and pushing away the Rogues approaching her, but they continued to attack relentlessly.
- Despite her petite stature, she fought like a tiger.
- No rogues could get closer to her.
- She was the daughter of Alpha and she kept her honor.
- One after another, they got knocked out by her.
- "Alpha Patrick, I have brought Gloria to the Shadow Forest as your orders.”
- My returning Beta Damon stood silently by my side as we both observed the ongoing battle in the distance.
- “The Alpha of the Silver Spring Pack wishes to speak with you."
- I shook my glass. Upon hearing Damon's words, I shifted my gaze away from Gloria.
- “Inform the Alpha of the Silver Spring Pack that he must choose between Gloria and his pack. If he wants his pack intact, then his daughter Gloria must leave.”
- “Yes.”
- “Then, tell the werewolf university to cancel Gloria's degree. So, she can't get a decent job in human society. She'll be employed with a high school diploma.”
- “Yes.”
- "And," I stared at my glass, "Send her to the werewolf prison."
- Damon was shocked at my words. He raised his head and said, "Alpha Patrick?"
- "She killed our girl, so I'll send her to the werewolf prison for three years. Beta Damon, do you not agree with me?"
- I decided to send Gloria to prison for three years. She had no right to aspire to be my Luna, let alone harm the woman I loved.
- Though the current evidence may not be sufficient to prove Gloria's guilt, I believe she is the one who killed Gabrielle.
- She deserves to die from any perspective. It's just that my wolf is constantly howling in my mind, pleading not to harm his mate.
- Otherwise, I would personally kill her.
- "No, Alpha Patrick, you did the right thing. Thank you." Damon's eyes suddenly turned red, and he began to cry.
- "If it weren't for you, Gloria would not have been punished for what she did to Gabrielle. She is from another pack, so there's nothing I can do about her."
- I turned towards the window.
- Gloria seemed to have lost most of her strength, her body was swaying, and I could clearly sense her growing weakness.
- As I watched one Rogue grab her hand and another sneak up on her from behind, I felt a suffocating sensation, and my wolf began to grow restless.
- "Save her! She is our mate!" My wolf howled loudly in my mind, relentlessly trying to seize control of my body to save Gloria.
- Yet, as I witnessed her legs being forcibly parted by two Rogues, my gaze darkened.
- I downed the remaining liquor and looked at the Beta standing beside me.
- "Beta Damon, I'm doing this not because Gabrielle is your sister, but because Gabrielle is the woman I love,"
- I spoke word by word, and once I finished, I knew there was something I had to address......
- As I arrived in the Shadow Forest, the woman before me lay naked on the ground, her body devoid of intact skin.
- The power of the bond made me want to tear the Rogues apart.
- She stared blankly at the sky, but they lit up again only when she saw me.
- "Alpha Patrick... please listen to me..." Gloria murmured with a low and almost inaudible voice.
- "What have you done to Gabrielle?" I stared at her blood smeared face and asked.
- "I... didn't... kill her..." Gloria whispered. She said stubbornly and met my gaze directly.
- I pinched her chin. After losing my beloved, I wanted to tear apart the pride in her eyes.
- "You didn't kill her. But you lured her into the Shadow Forest and disclosed her whereabouts to the rogues. They came and took turns to rape her before strangling her to death. That's what you've done to her, isn't it?"
- Gloria shook her head violently.
- Blood and tears ran down her head.
- Some of them got on my fingers.
- I withdrew my fingers and took out a handkerchief to wipe away. "I understand that you have feelings for me, Miss Carter..."
- "... But I never expected that you would love me so much to have Gabrielle killed."
- I continued my monologue. "You're indeed a piece of work. I shouldn't have underestimated you."
- “No... It's not like that...” Gloria tried to open her mouth to scream, but she ended up choking on her own blood.
- I took hold of her by grabbing her shoulders.
- My fingers embedded in her flash like two giant clamps.
- "Now you're trapped by me. Tell me, Miss Carter. What do you think I will do to you?"
- Touching her body almost felt like setting myself on fire. I couldn't control myself, damn bond!
- Like floods crushing the dike, like rain falling to the ground. No one could cut off the connection between two mated werewolves.
- Gloria lifted up her head, not knowing what would happen next.
- I leaned forward and my hand slid all the way down and grabbed her.
- "You're really a slut, aren't you?" I said. "You like this, don't you?"
- "Please don't... Don't do this to me..." She moaned in shame.
- "Your body tells a different story." I said in a cold voice. "You want this. You want this so much that you'd rather kill an innocent girl."
- I squeezed so hard that she screamed in pain.
- "You disgust me." I stared into her eyes and said word by word.
- 'It should have been you.'
- When she heard those words, she looked at me sharply, her face filled with shock.
- "The one who should be killed is you, "
- “Gloria Carter.”
