• "Huh?" Ruby's big, round eyes widened in confusion. She asked, "If I do that, won't Bubba hate me?"
• Cary nonchalantly slumped back onto the sofa. He said, "You need to choose, me or the tyrant. Think it through! I'm telling you, the tyrant only comes home five days a month at most, but you and I live here every day. If you choose him, just wait and see what happens when he's too busy to come home."
