Chapter 10 The Most Acclaimed Client
- What's that peculiar thing I'm witnessing? Wendy instinctively rubbed her eyes and took another look, only to find that the golden light had already disappeared.
- The bathroom was now only lit by the regular light, and Wendy thought it was just her imagination.
- Shortly after, Pierre emerged from the bathroom, and Wendy promptly feigned sleep. Without addressing her, he returned to the couch and settled back in for the night. And thus, their first night together passed in this manner.
- The next morning at 7am, Wendy woke up and went to look for her grandfather.
- At 8:30am, Pierre finally roused from his slumber. After leisurely stretching, he tidied up and departed from the Mills Family residence.
- He had two significant tasks ahead for the day: first, retrieving the considerable wealth stored in the bank from the Dragon Burial Palace, and second, replicating two gold earrings to give back to Wendy.
- Following breakfast at a street-side vendor, Pierre hailed a ride to the Riverdon branch of Switz Bank. Renowned for its sophistication and clientele of global capitalists, Switz Bank was his destination.
- A portion of the vast wealth from the Dragon Burial Palace was secured within the vault of Switz Bank. Upon Pierre's arrival at the bank, he found a queue of over a dozen people awaiting their transactions in the lobby. Suddenly, Pierre's presence drew the attention of everyone within the bank.
- The individuals conducting business at Switz Bank were attired in sharp suits and ties, a stark contrast to Pierre, who remained clad in the same simple attire he wore five years ago upon entering prison. His clothing, weathered and faded from frequent washing, caused him to visibly stand out amidst the crowd in the bank lobby.
- The crowd judged Pierre based on his attire, perceiving him either as impoverished or inexperienced. Some regarded him with disdain or openly humiliated him, maintaining their distance as if poverty were contagious.
- "Hey, do you even realize where you are? This is Switz International Bank, meant only for substantial transactions. If you're just looking to withdraw some cash, try a smaller bank. We don't cater to country folk here!" With a condescending tone, a young woman covered her mouth and nose as she "kindly" advised Pierre.
- "Thank you for the information. I am here to withdraw a large sum of money!" Pierre answered politely.
- "Haha!"
- "Does this guy really think a hundred bucks is a large sum of money?"
- The crowd erupted into laughter at Pierre's assertions, assuming he was merely jesting. Enduring years of such demeaning comments and sneering remarks, Pierre remained composed as he patiently waited in line for over half an hour until his turn finally arrived.
- "Are you Pierre?"
- Sally, Wendy's closest friend, had been undergoing training at Switz Bank as per her family's arrangements since the previous month. During her assistance to Wendy in probing Pierre's background yesterday, she came across a photograph of him and found herself deeply captivated by his appearance. Now, upon encountering Pierre in the flesh, she couldn't suppress her sense of awe.
- Shocked by her words, he questioned, "Do you know me?"
- Pierre gazed at the woman standing before him. She possessed the same beauty as Wendy, and her bank attire lent her an even more refined appearance.
- "I'm Wendy's best friend. She showed me a picture of you yesterday. What's your business here? Just so you know, this is a top-tier international bank, dealing exclusively with transactions of one billion dollars or more. If you're dealing with smaller amounts, you might want to try a different bank," Sally informed Pierre with a touch of arrogance..
- Upon his release from prison, this schemer targeted Wendy, resorting to sorcery to manipulate her grandfather into pressuring her into marriage, motivated by his lust for both her body and wealth.
- To further complicate Pierre's situation, she falsely asserted that their bank only handled transactions exceeding one billion dollars, leaving him stunned.
- "Wait, isn't Switz International Bank capable of processing transactions of one million dollars or more? When did it become one billion dollars?"
- Pierre asked, bewildered. He had already checked online during his journey and found that Switz International Bank indeed handled transactions of one million or more; there was no regulation stating that transactions below one billion dollars couldn't be processed.
- "I've already told you, we don't deal with transactions under a billion dollars. What's with the persistence? You're acting like you've got a million bucks to spare. If you don't have that kind of cash, maybe it's time to move on and let everyone else go about their business!" Sally couldn't contain her frustration as she addressed Pierre.
- "Alright, if you exclusively handle transactions over a billion dollars, then kindly provide me with a billion dollars in cash," Pierre stated calmly.
- His mentor had previously mentioned that despite only a tenth of the total funds being stored in the Dragon Burial Temple at Switz International Bank, that portion still equated to over a hundred billion dollars. Initially, he had planned to withdraw approximately a million dollars, but upon hearing Sally's statement, he was compelled to withdraw a billion dollars instead.
- "You want to withdraw a billion dollars? Where's your card?" Sally looked at Pierre in surprise.
- "I don't have a card. I'll use this ring to withdraw the money." Pierre retrieved the Dragon Burial Ring from his hand and passed it to Sally.
- His mentor had advised him that presenting the Dragon Burial Ring at the bank would prompt the staff to escort him to the vault where the Dragon Burial Temple's funds were held. They would then utilize the second golden needle and its corresponding password to unlock the vault door.
- However, Sally, being new at Switz Bank, was unaware of this procedure. Upon seeing Pierre wearing what appeared to be a worn and unremarkable ring and claiming he intended to withdraw a billion dollars, she became infuriated.
- "Mr. Cook, are you joking? Leave, or I'll have security escort you out!"
- Sally's rage blinded her to the tempered glass separating them, causing her to forcefully fling Pierre's Dragon Burial Ring. The ring struck the glass, rebounded, and inadvertently hit the manager who had just stepped out of his office. Reacting on instinct, the middle-aged manager, dressed in a suit and tie with a prominent bald spot, instinctively reached out to catch the Dragon Burial Ring hurtling towards him.
- "The Dragon Burial Ring?"
- Just as he was on the verge of uttering a curse, he noticed the ring in his hand. After studying it for a moment, he muttered to himself in astonishment.
- Upon assuming the role of bank manager, his predecessor emphasized the importance of the Dragon Burial Ring. This ring served as the key to unlocking the highest-security level vault among the top ten banks globally.
- The possessor of the Dragon Burial Ring was speculated to be a covert billionaire, with assets valued in the trillions. And now, the Dragon Burial Ring had unexpectedly surfaced.
- "Whose ring is this?" the manager asked the tellers heatedly.
- "Mr. Seeley, this ring belongs to him. This troublemaker came in, claiming he wanted to withdraw a billion dollars in cash with this ring. I'll have security escort him out instantly!" Sally gestured towards Pierre with evident agitation, informing the manager before summoning security to escort Pierre out.
- "You ignorant fool! This person happens to be one of our bank's most esteemed clients. How dare you display such rudeness? I'll address your behavior later!"
- After he said that, the manager rushed out to serve Pierre.
- This statement left Sally dumbfounded. Our bank's most acclaimed client?
