Chapter 7 Engaged To An Alpha
- Melody
- "Melody, is that you?" Mother's voice cracked, bringing tears to my eyes. She was looking so pale. I ran straight into her outstretched arms and wiped the hot tears tripping down her cheek. "It really is you." She smiled and pulled me into her arms.
- I hugged my mother tightly, putting my pent up emotion into the hug. "It's me, Mother. It's Melody." I confirmed, tears cascading down my cheek. I missed my mother so much and as much as I have made myself strong for my pups. I couldn't help being weak at the moment. I was in my mother's arms after so long.
- "My baby is looking so good," Mother kissed me as if to ward off the evil eyes away from me. "You are all grown up." Mother put a tiny space between us so she could check me out.
- "Of course, she'll grow. She is now a mother herself." Malcolm answered for me, he used the same words I said to him. It only dawned on me then that I had my two joy bags with me. Amidst our sweet reunion, I had completely forgotten that my pups were with me.
- "Really?" Mother's eyes became glossy. Her eyes darted to the spot behind me and her expression softened. A smile appeared on her beautiful face, accompanied by tears. "Are they Melody's pups? Are these my grandkids?"
- I put forth my hand, signalling to the kids to come forward. I tossed them forward slightly and Gio glanced at me. I understood his silent question so I bent forward and squatted between them. "That's my mother. Your grandma." I announced, looking from one to the other.
- "Grandma!" Aaron was off in a flash. He jumped into mother's open arms. I had to toss Giovanni forward to make him move. A smile and light nod accompanied the toss before he entered mother's hug.
- "They are so cute," Mother muttered as she rained kisses on her grandkids.
- I watched with a smile and at the same time, tears trickled down my face. I have always imagined what meeting my family again would be like, I never imagined meeting my mother in such a state. She looked like she would wither away at any given moment. However, as soon as Aaron and Giovanni went into her arms, her pale face got some color in it. I guess she finally found a reason to live. My energy boxes had successfully transferred some energy to my mother.
- "Melody..." Malfoy arrived in mother's room. His eyes scanned the room as he called out to me. I had only just stepped out to accompany Gio to the toilet.
- I took some time to check him out. Malfoy has grown so tall and huge, I could barely recognize him. If It wasn't for his hair that was the same as mine, I could have taken him for someone else. He was so handsome.
- "Malfoy," my voice came out as a whisper, but he heard. He turned and his mouth hung open as he looked at me.
- "Melody..." He repeated as if to be sure that he wasn't hallucinating.
- "Yes, It's me." I replied before crashing into his arms.
- "Oh my, It really is you." He smiled as he brushed his hand through my hair. "I thought you wouldn't come."
- "Why won't I come?" I raised my head to meet his gaze. "You had called and it's about our mother. I couldn't ignore that."
- "It's so good to have you back." He kissed my hair.
- I immediately remembered Dorian as soon as he did that. Then I remembered that I haven't informed him of our arrival in Mallory.
- I made a mental note to call him as soon as I'm done.
- "Where do I keep the luggage?" One of my guards, Lex, came in and bowed.
- I raised my head and looked at my brothers. I couldn't jump to conclusions. I knew I probably wasn't allowed to use my room anymore, since I don't belong here now.
- "To the south wing. Melody's room is over there." Malcolm replied. He called one of their guards and ordered him to help Lex with the luggage and also to show him the way to my room.
- "But father, he... "
- "He won't object." Malfoy answered before I could voice my fear. I can't let my father throw a fuss in front of my pups and risk having them to hate him.
- "Then Giovanni and Aaron can stay in my wing." Malcolm rubbed Aaron's cheek. Gio shook his head in disagreement and Aaron also followed.
- "Um...they can't sleep without me and....." I paused as soon as I realized what I was about to say. "They can share my room." I announced with a smile and my pups responded with a frantic nod of their heads.
- "Oh and I thought I could spend some time with them." Malcolm pouted.
- "Of course you can, after I have taken my time." Mother said sternly.
- "So, all these guards belong to you?" Malfoy's inquisitive self was awakened. He had been watching Lex and the others through the window as they unloaded our luggage. "What's going on?"
- "Uh...they are not my guards. They are my fiance's and he's asked them to protect us in his absence."
- Six pairs of eyes ran down my body until it landed on my hand. They stared down at my finger.
- "You're engaged?!" Three of them exclaimed.
- "Is he your mate?"
- "What does he look like?"
- "Is he handsome?" They spoke at once, giving no room for me to think.
- "Why didn't he come with you?" Mother held my hand up as she checked the ring.
- "Mama asked him to stay back." Aaron's tone was begrudged.
- "Alpha duties," Gio replied. His answer was short but I'm sure the grown ups must have understood because they all stared wide eyed at me before my brothers grabbed my arm and shoulder. They both sounded surprised and happy as they both screamed in unison.
- "You're engaged to an Alpha?!
- "You will become Luna?!"
