Chapter 8 My Wife, Mrs Lu
- As Xia Micheng said this, she pointed a finger at Xia Erxiang, her eyes fixed on Lu Yuzhen. “She was the one who said this.”
- Xia Erxiang and Kong Peixian were thunderstruck. So this man really was the gigolo that Xia Micheng had on the side?
- Dear lord!
- Xia Erxiang felt as though she had taken a hard slap to the face.
- Just then, the shopkeeper walked out of the kitchen with a strawberry jam cake in his hands. Lu Yuzhen took it and said, “Let’s go home.”
- “Okay.” Xia Micheng followed after him. She turned her head around and waved a tiny hand at Xia Erxiang. “Bye bye.”
- Xia Erxiang was practically bewildered. She hadn’t imagined that Xia Micheng would have such a good-looking boy toy.
- Kong Peixian piped up like an idiot, “Erxiang, looks like you’re really going to have to call Xia Micheng ‘milady’ now.”
- Xia Erxiang instantly glared daggers at Kong Peixian.
- Kong Peixian giggled mockingly. “Erxiang, what I mean is that Xia Micheng’s gigolo is really handsome. How much do you think he costs?”
- Lu Yuzhen hadn’t even looked at her once throughout his entire trip. He practically treated her as if she was invisible, making Xia Erxiang feel like a failure, and also making her angry too.
- However, Kong Peixian’s words quickly reminded her that he was just a boy toy whom Xia Micheng had paid for. She could just buy him over with a bigger wad of cash.
- Xia Erxiang was practically leaping at that thought.
- “Mister, hand me the cake that I paid for. We’re leaving now.” Xia Erxiang went to get her cake.
- However, the shopkeeper didn’t give it to her. “I’m sorry, miss. I can refund you twice over, but I cannot give the cake to you.”
- “Why?” Xia Erxiang and Kong Peixian were startled.
- The shopkeeper smiled gently. “Because I want to give the cake to my dog.”
- What?
- Xia Erxiang smacked the counter. “Hey, what’s the meaning of this? Are you looking down on us?”
- The shopkeeper replied, “Do you still not understand? You’ve offended an important person. I’d rather give the cake to a dog than give it to you!”
- ……
- The car stopped outside of the Orchid Garden. Lu Yuzhen handed his gold-embossed black card to Xia Micheng. “For you.”
- Xia Micheng’s fan-like eyelashes fluttered. Why was he giving her his card?
- “I don’t want it,” she protested.
- Lu Yuzhen’s thin lips curled into a smile. “You certainly cannot afford to support a gigolo like me, but you? I can financially support you, my wife, Mrs. Lu.”
- My wife, Mrs. Lu...
- Xia Micheng could feel her heart skip a beat when he said this in an incredibly charismatic voice, which was borderline crooning. Her heartbeat was all over the place.
- Xia Micheng quickly opened the passenger door and got out of the car.
- This man sure was enthralling.
- Xia Micheng carefully stowed away his black credit card in her bag. When she entered the living room, Madam Lu welcomed her, a smile splitting her face. “Micheng, you’re back. How was your visit?”
- “It was good, Grandma. Let’s have some cake together.”
- Madam Lu’s eyes lit up. She hastily made her way over to the living room, rubbing her hands all the while. “Cake is nice. I rather love cake.”
- Just then, Lu Yuzhen came in. He didn’t head to the living room. Instead, he immediately made his way upstairs. However, his steps stopped when he was halfway up the stairs. His gaze landed on Madam Lu as he reminded, “Grandma, you have high blood pressure. Just a single bite of cake is enough.”
- Madam Lu stuffed yet another piece of cake into her mouth, all straight-faced. “I know that. I just want a taste. It’s really sweet.”
- Xia Micheng burst out into giggles at the old lady’s antics. She raised her head to look at Lu Yuzhen by the stairs. “Do you want some cake?”
- Lu Yuzhen wasn’t a fan of sweet foods. “No, it’s fine.”
- “Oh.”
- “Your mouth…”
- Lu Yuzhen’s gaze fell upon her face. Her veil had been partially pulled back so that she could eat her cake, revealing a dainty little chin and her half-concealed lips.
- Her lips were pink and beautiful.
- A magazine had once written about a list of lips that men found the most kissable. Hers fit the bill exactly.
- Now, a clump of buttercream was smeared by her lips.
- At his words, Xia Micheng reflexively licked away the buttercream, pulling it into her mouth.
- When she looked up to peer at him again, Lu Yuzhen was scanning her lips. He adjusted his tie with one hand, his Adam’s apple bobbing, and then he went upstairs to his study.
- Xia Micheng’s pale earlobes reddened. The way Lu Yuzhen had fiddled with his tie was lethal. It was as though his eyes betrayed his actual thoughts.
- Xia Micheng quickly pulled out a napkin to vigorously wipe her lips.
- Right at that moment, the butler brought an old man upstairs. “Grandma, who is that?” Xia Micheng asked.
- “Oh, that’s Mr. Nan Yuan. He comes here once a month.”
- Xia Micheng’s heart skipped a beat. Mr. Nan Yuan was a world-renowned hypnotist. As someone who was also in the medical field, she had naturally heard of him.
- If Mr. Nan Yuan was here, that definitely meant that he was here to treat Lu Yuzhen’s sleep disorder. It seemed like his sleep disorder was even worse than she initially thought.
- ……
- Xia Micheng felt uneasy, which was why she found herself standing by the door to the study. Suddenly, an odd noise came from inside the room. Startled, Xia Micheng hastily pushed open the door.
- The study was in complete disarray. The papers on the desk had all scattered to the ground; even Mr. Nan Yuan’s pocket watch had been smashed.
- Lu Yuzhen stood by the desk, his large hands placed on top of it; the veins in his hands pulsed frantically. His sturdy chest kept heaving, as though a wild beast was thrashing around in it.
- At the sound of the door opening, Lu Yuzhen looked up. Xia Micheng’s eyes met with his own deep ones. Right now, there was a glint of terrifying red in his eyes that was mixed with a look of maliciousness.
- It was like he had changed into a completely different person right now.
- Xia Micheng was no stranger to this man. She had seen him just last night.
- Lu Yuzhen’s pale lips pressed themselves into a harsh, thin line when their gazes met. “Get out!” he growled.
- But Xia Micheng did not budge.
- The butler picked up the broken pocket watch before escorting Mr. Nan Yuan and her out of the room and closing the door.
- With the door now shut, the room was now separated into its own world.
- Xia Micheng glanced at Mr. Nan Yuan. “Mr. Nan Yuan, how is he now”
- Mr. Nan Yuan shook his head. “When I first started treating him, I could still hypnotize Young Master Lu, allowing him to rest one day per month. But now, his mental state is deteriorating too quickly. Young Master Lu is a highly alert person, and his mental guards are so strong that they are actually terrifying. I am no longer able to put him under hypnosis.”
- Xia Micheng wasn’t surprised. Lu Yuzhen was a mature and reserved man who kept to himself. He wasn’t one to easily let his emotions slip out. This man was nearly abnormal, what with his composure and his control over himself.
- Xia Micheng’s feathery lashes gently fluttered downward as she closed her eyes. She then reached out to put a hand on the door knob.
- “Young Mistress, you can’t do that. It’s dangerous for you to go inside now. Have you forgotten about last night’s events?” Mr. Fu quickly stopped her.
- Xia Micheng gazed at Mr. Fu with her gleaming clear eyes. “Mr. Fu, I’m going in precisely because I remember last night. Once a sleep disorder has evolved into a mental one, he won’t be able to restrain that spiritless and explosive part of himself anymore. Once that second personality has formed, it will take over him completely.”
- Mr. Fu paled.
- Xia Micheng simply pushed open the door and entered.
- ……
- Lu Yuzhen stared at Xia Micheng, who had made her presence known again inside the study. The dark aura surrounding his head seemingly thickened. “Get out. Don’t make me repeat myself for the third time!”
- Xia Micheng approached him, her shining black eyes revealing a bright smile. “What if I want to see you repeat yourself again, Mr. Lu?”
- Lu Yuzhen felt awful all over. The veins by the corner of his forehead bulged. He was slowly losing control of his body, but he didn’t want to hurt her.
- He reached out to clutch at Xia Micheng’s thin arm. “Get out!” The order leaped out of his throat.
- He gave her a shove.
- Xia Micheng lost her balance and toppled over. Her forehead collided with the sharp corner of the coffee table right before she collapsed onto the ground. Blood immediately gushed out like a raging river.
- Xia Micheng hissed out in pain, before bringing a hand up to cover the wound. Crimson blood flowed through the cracks between her fingers.
