Chapter 6 : Another Complication
- -=Yesha's Point of View=-
- "Damn it!" I cursed as I rode my motorcycle back home.
- The talk between me and Xavier really infuriated me, the nerve of him to propose that I would be willing to have sex with him again because it would never happen again, even though he was incredibly good-looking, but still, I need to be unyielding, once is enough.
- I still couldn't believe it when I found out I had a one-night stand with my boss, of all people.
- I blame the booze I drank that night; if I hadn't been intoxicated that night, I wouldn't have made the mistake of sleeping with a stranger and losing my virginity, but it's too late to repent now, so I vowed never to drink again.
- Aside from drinking, I blame Brix for everything; if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have gotten wasted and slept with a random stranger.
- Normally, it takes me more than an hour to get home, but because of how fast I drive, it only took me 40 minutes instead.
- "How come you're here so early?" My mother asked as soon as I entered our home.
- "I finished my work early, so I decided to go home right away; by the way, is that sinigang?" I inquired as I smelled the dish she was cooking in the kitchen.
- So hungry now, and I didn't even eat that well earlier, that it wasn't a surprise to hear the grumbling in my stomach!
- Sinigang is a traditional Filipino cuisine made with tamarind-based soup, which can be pork, fish, or shrimp, with different vegetables.
- My favorite is the pork one; in any dish, I would prefer pork to any other meat.
- "Yeah, I cooked your favorite; why do you want to have dinner already?" She asked when she heard my stomach.
- "Yes, I didn't eat much during my lunch break, so I'm hungry right now," I admitted.
- "Ok, I'll call you when it's ready," she said.
- She returned to the kitchen, while I went straight to my room on the second floor to change into my typical home clothes.
- I donned a white shirt with short shorts; it's fine to wear this kind of outfit because I'm only at home.
- After a few minutes, I heard mom calling my name, and as I walked to the kitchen, I saw her already adding the vegetables to the sinigang.
- "Take a seat, it's almost done," she said, and I did as she instructed, and our dinner was ready after another three minutes of waiting.
- "Finally! I'm famished!" I murmured excitedly, and I was about to begin when there was a loud knock on the door, which compelled me to stop eating.
- "Such a bother," I said, and with a heavy heart, I was forced to abandon my food to check who was at the door.
- Interestingly, as I opened the door, I discovered a foreigner, possibly in his teen years.
- "Can I help you?" I asked, perplexed, seeing the young man's good looks.
- "Yes, I'd like to know if this is Anita Santillan's house." He inquired, smiling and speaking in a thick British accent, and he's really cute!
- 'Yes, I am Anita's daughter, Yesha," I replied.
- I was taken aback when the foreigner abruptly hugged me, and it took me a few seconds to grasp what he was doing.
- "Hey! What are you doing?!" In a state of panic, I asked.
- I tried to take his arms off, but he wouldn't budge, and I was about to punch him when his next words caught me off guard.
- "I've always wanted to meet you, big sister," he added, eventually letting go with a large smile on his handsome face.
- It took me a minute to grasp what he had just said, and I'm sure a look of astonishment was written all over my face.
- "Wait, did you just call me your big sister?" I asked, my mouth agape.
- "You are, indeed, my sister. By the way, I'm Jerry Wills's son," he responded calmly.
- After hearing him mention my biological father's name, I felt as if I had been struck by lightning.
- I can't believe or accept what has happened to me; first, I discovered that the man who devirginized me is also my boss, and now I'm meeting my supposed half-brother; can my life get much more complicated?!
- I tried to find any similarities between us, but I couldn't find any, and he seemed to detect my skepticism, so he pulled out a bunch of paperwork and photos from his luggage and presented them to me.
- He handed me some documentation proving that he is, in fact, Jerry Will's son, and my half-sister.
- I also saw a photo of him with Jerry, and while I haven't met the man, I saw a picture of him among my mother's belongings when I was a child.
- I could feel my knees weakening, and then I realized we'd been standing at the doorway for quite some time, so I invited him inside.
- "Who's there at the door? Why are you taking such a long time..." When my mother saw our visitor, she couldn't complete her sentence.
- "Hello, my name is Dustin Wills, Jerry Wills' son," he said.
- When she heard her ex-lover's name my mother's demeanor immediately changed to one of shock.
- "Are you sure..." She couldn't continue speaking owing to the shock she was experiencing, so I decided to question Dustin myself.
- "So, you're telling me you're Justin Wills' son and my brother, is that correct?" I asked as if questioning a suspect in a crime.
- "Yeah, half-brother actually, and I also have an older sister named Maggie," he added.
- "Ok, so I have two siblings from Jerry Wills, but what are you doing here?" I enquired.
- "Well, about that, I wanted to meet you because I really wanted to see my other sister ever since dad told me about you, and secondly, I was trying to run away from our sister, Maggie," he stated with a sheepish look on his adorable face.
- "Ok, so where are you going to stay while you're here in the Philippines?" I asked.
- "I'd been staying in Manila hotel for a week already, but I opted to check out early after confirming that I'd finally found this place," he explained.
- "If you've already checked out of your hotel, where do you intend to stay now?" I asked with trepidation, I don't like what I'm thinking right now, especially after seeing the luggage he brought.
- His smile widened as he looked at me with a pleading expression on his face.
- "I want to live here, I want to be with my half-sister," he replied sweetly.
- After hearing what I was afraid to hear from him, it felt as if my soul left me.
- I was already stressed, and just when I thought things couldn't get much worse, another complication came.
- "Just wait here," I said as I dragged my mother back to the kitchen.
- "Mom, he came to the Philippines to see me, and he also wanted to stay with us!" I informed her in a frantic tone.
- "I know, I heard him; his accent was thick, but I could comprehend some of what he said," she replied.
- "All well, and are you ok if he stayed with us, even though he's Jerry's son?" I asked, still skeptical.
- To be honest, I expected her to flip out after learning about Dustin's father, but she remained calm.
- "Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with it, and you verified that what he was saying was true, correct?" She inquired, and I responded with a nod of my head.
- "Are you certain? Aren't you upset with him because he's the son of the jackass who abandoned you?" I continued in my probe, still unconvinced.
- "Yes, I'm fine with it; he didn't do anything wrong to me, so why should I blame or be angry with him for something his father did to me?"
- "OK, just to be sure, and yes, his proof seems very legit to me, and furthermore, there's nothing worth in this place if he was planning to rob us," I
- said.
- "See? So why don't you call him, and ask if he wanted to have dinner with us," she said.
- She didn't wait for my reply and decided to reheat our food, and after ensuring that she was completely fine with Dustin living with us, I returned to the living room, where Dustin was sitting idly on the couch, and as soon as he saw me, he stood up.
- "Ok, you can stay, my mom agreed, you can stay for a few days, are we clear?"
- "Yes, quite clear, and thank you," he replied enthusiastically.
- The only issue is where he would sleep in this house, and as if sensing my predicament, he volunteered to sleep on the couch in the living room instead.
- "No, it doesn't seem right, you're our visitor, and moreover, there's one more room in this house, but we needed to clean it first."
- The room I was referring to is one that we had converted into our storage room, so we would be doing a lot of lifting later, but before that, I invited him to join us for dinner, which he eagerly accepted.
- He was skeptical at first as he glanced at the food on the table, but after finally tasting it, he began eating with vigor this time.
- After our dinner, we decided to take a short break before cleaning the storage room that would be Dustin's room for the duration of his stay with us.
- I was so sweaty and sticky after we finished cleaning the room, and it was a good thing there was still a clean bed for him to use.
- I chose to take a bath first, and when I got out, I looked for Dustin and found him outside our house.
- I'm not sure whether to laugh or grimace as our neighbors gazed in awe and admiration at Dustin.
- Dustin is undeniably attractive, and with a few more years under his belt, he will undoubtedly become even more so.
- "Hi pretty lady," he remarked to the girl who happened to pass by our house, and her entire face became red like a ripe tomato as a result.
- "It appears he's a womanizer," I thought to myself, but that changed when I noticed how he stared at the shirtless guy who walked out outside their house.
- I'm suspicious because of the weird look Dustin is giving the shirtless guy, but then I remember how he flirted with the girl earlier, so I'm even more confused.
- "Hey Dustin," I said calling his attention.
- "What's up?" He asked still looking at the same guy.
- "Are you gay?"
- My question eventually drew his attention to me, and a huge grin came on his face before he spoke.
- "No, I'm not gay," he replied, quashing my suspicions, but before I could breathe a sigh of relief, his next words startled me.
- "I'm not gay, but I'm bisexual," he said calmly, returning his focus to the shirtless man.
- At first, I was worried, especially because, in comparison to other countries, the Philippines is still not as welcoming to his kind, but when I realized that he would only be staying for a few days, my concerns subsided.
- After knowing about Dustin's sexual orientation, I began to wonder if my half-sister was a lesbian, but I quickly disregarded that possibility.
- It's not like I'm going to meet her as well, and I have no plans to do so, the fact that Dustin was running away from her sister only means that she was probably an ill-tempered woman.
- "Why don't you go inside and rest?" I said.
- "Ok, but first I'll need a shower," he said, and both of us went into the house.
- I went straight to my room, while Dustin went to the bathroom to take a bath.
- After fifteen minutes, I remembered I hadn't provided him a cushion or blanket, so I grabbed a couple of pillows and carried them to his room.
- I opened the door without knocking, thinking he was still in the bathroom, only to be horrified when I saw him naked; it was a good thing he wasn't facing the door, or else I might have seen his length.
- "Good gracious! Cover yourself!" While my eyes were closed, I exclaimed.
- "Sorry, I typically sleep naked, and I didn't expect you to come in without knocking," he explained.
- "I'm sorry, I thought you were still in the bathroom, and next time, learn how to lock your door, because my mom typically barges in without permission," I explained.
- "OK, you can look now, I'm decent," he said, but I hadn't fully opened my eyes yet, so I took a glimpse, and only after confirming his claim did I fully open my eyes.
- I finally went back to my room after giving him the blanket and pillows. I tried not to think about everything that had occurred to me so far, and everything that would happen to me in the future, and I can't help being terrified of what the future had in store for me.
- "Please, no more," I said silently as I eventually fell asleep.
