Chapter 5

  • Charlotte followed Kennedy into the meeting space as everyone in the space gasped in surprise at her presence.
  • Everyone was aware that Nathan had been the only person to assist Kennedy at this time. Everyone began speculating about the nature of the woman's relationship with him as she suddenly appeared at his side.
  • Charlotte had worked as an assistant before, but she had never been present for such a significant event. The conference space at Moore Group was enormous. Moore Group was, after all, the most prominent organization in North City.
  • Charlotte saw that the atmosphere in the room was tense as soon as she walked in. As she arrived behind Nathan and Kennedy, Charlotte's shoulders stiffened up unconsciously from the dread of meeting everyone's eyes.
  • Everyone turned to look at Charlotte as they finally sat down.
  • Is she, President Moore’s wife?
  • It was expected that Manfred, vice president of Moore Group, would attend the meeting as well. He was astounded to see Charlotte at that precise time.
  • Charlotte frantically fiddled with the corner of her blouse to get herself to relax. As she slowly lifted her eyes, she noticed a soft, familiar face among the others' interested looks.
  • Manfred was there.
  • Manfred smiled and nodded to Charlotte as their eyes locked.
  • His grin at this point helped calm Charlotte's anxiety, and she reciprocated with a timid smile.
  • Manfred was really a lovely and loving person, Charlotte realized.
  • Kennedy recognized them even though it was a tiny and unimportant movement.
  • He replied with a coldness that flashed over his piercing gaze. a "care worker."
  • "Huh?" Hearing his response astounded everyone.
  • A care worker, what does he mean by that?
  • Even Charlotte couldn't understand his response.
  • Who did President Moore say she was?
  • Kennedy had eyes that were as black as darkness. He gave the person's query an answer with a tiny brow rise.
  • "To take care of my daily needs, my grandfather has hired a care worker," the man said.
  • Charlotte's face progressively became paler as a result of hearing such vile and offensive statements, and she lowered her sight to look at Kennedy.
  • “I'm here to serve as his helper. I've been taking care of him since when?”
  • She was still dazed when Kennedy angrily screamed an order at her. "Coffee."
  • Charlotte remained fixed in place. She didn't respond to the directive until Nathan shod her.
  • She hurried out of the meeting room to make coffee.
  • The meeting had already begun by the time she returned carrying the coffee. She then placed Kennedy's coffee in front of her.
  • Kennedy took a sip and scowled. Overly sweet! Another!"
  • Kennedy's concerns and repeated requests for Charlotte to change the coffee were soon heard by everyone in the conference room.
  • "It has no flavor,"
  • "Too warm!"
  • It's "too cold!"
  • Charlotte made several trips back and forth only for a cup of coffee. Kennedy had made the conference room into a stage to demonstrate to everyone how he mistreated her.
  • She blushed in shame at all the looks she received from the others, from looks of pity to sneers.
  • She was about to explode with rage when she remembered the Wilson Family's predicament. She inhaled deeply, suppressed her rage, and then went outside to make another cup.
  • Thud! Everyone in the room was startled as the coffee cup crashed on the table.
  • “Is that everything you have? And you believe that level of effectiveness will allow you to serve as my caregiver?
  • Charlotte remained seated, her face looking pallid.
  • As he observed this, Manfred, who was seated close by, scowled and remarked, "Kennedy, that's enough."
  • “Oh? Manfred, do you speak for her? It appears that this woman is more complex than I first thought.
  • Kennedy's warm smile quickly turned frosty.
  • "Are you sorry about my care provider? How about if I hand her over to you?
  • Charlotte bit her lower lip while her fingers shook.
  • “He's too vicious! I can now understand why he permitted me to stay. He merely intended to belittle me!
  • He likely believes that I am a lady who will stop at nothing to wed a wealthy man.”
  • He detests me so much because of this!
  • "Why are you acting this way, Kennedy? She is still yours after all.”
  • Nathan entered icily before Manfred could reveal their relationship. Vice President Moore: "Do you not feel that you have interfered too much? The president is assisting her in producing quality coffee.
  • Charlotte rapidly spoke before Manfred could, despite the fact that it appeared as though he wanted to stand up more for Charlotte.
  • “I'll make Young Master Moore another cup of coffee.”
  • She then took the cup and walked out of the conference room.
  • The number of cups is one, two, three.
  • Throughout the entire meeting, Charlotte had been pacing back and forth between the conference space and the break area. Even though Kennedy wasn't happy with any of her coffee during the meeting, she made no complaints.
  • Even when the meeting was over, she was still brewing coffee.
  • Standing near the back of the room was Nathan feeling sorry for her when she was in the room.
  • He moved up to Kennedy's side and whispered to him after noticing that everyone in the room had departed., "Mr. Kennedy, let's go past this right now. I believe we have disciplined her.
  • Kennedy grinned. If she doesn't been treated well, this kind of lady won't give up.
  • He was curious to know how much longer she could take.
