Chapter 6 Let’s Get a Divorce
- I closed my eyes, not knowing what expression was on Jiang Zhigang’s face now. I also hoped that the videos were edited by whoever wanted to destroy our marriage, just like what he said.
- I had taken this five-years-relationship very seriously. Nobody else hoped that the videos would be fake more than I did.
- Jiang Zhigang fell into silence. Now that the evidence was in front of him, he could no longer come up with any sophistry.
- His silence gradually shattered my expectations. I knew that I no longer could deceive myself.
- Because, even a computer idiot like me could see that the face of the person in this video was his. If it was really edited, could even his voice be faked?
- “You told me that you would come back immediately the day when I called you but in the end? I ran away for three days and you finally appeared in my parents’ house three days later. You don’t even care at all so why do you want to make such a fuss now?”
- Perhaps I would still believe him if he had come back that day to explain everything to me, but as it turned out, I did not matter to him at all.
- “Yahan, I was working overtime at the office that time. My boss… My boss insisted oon having me stay in the company…”
- My old self would have believed his sincere expression, for he always used such excuses when he stayed out all night. I would blame him but he would just yell back at me saying that there was nothing he could do as this was required by the company.
- “Overtime? That’s right, your work is important. Your wife wants a divorce already and yet you could still calmly stay at the company to work overtime. In that case, why are you throwing such a fuss now?”
- “T-That project is very important. I…”
- He kept defending himself with excuses. The panic on his face had long betrayed his heart.
- “That’s enough Jiang Zhigang! You can’t even convince yourself with such a lie. Do you think that I’m a three-year-old?”
- Looking at the yet-to-fade bite mark on his neck, I smiled nonchalantly. The evidences were right in front of my eyes, striking and dazzling to the eyes.
- Perhaps I was no longer as cautious as before, like I was walking on thin ice, so he had also lost the calmness to come up with more lies.
- “Yahan, it was that man who seduced me. I still love you the most… I can’t live without you.”
- Aha! So you finally admitted!
- I tilted my head upward slightly to keep my tears from falling.
- I finally got my answer, but so what?
- Recalling the three years of dating back then, he was respectful and polite towards me. Even the kisses were light. He would hold my face sincerely telling me that he did not touch me because he loved me.
- I was moved by these words of his. I thought no better man could compare to his ability to restrain his desire and the respect he had for my wish to stay chaste.
- Heh, how ironic! The reason I fell in love with him was precisely the excuse for him to not love me.
- Jiang Zhigang became panic when he saw my nonchalant bleak smile. He threw all his concerns away and actually hugged my thighs crying his heart out, while describing to me the scene of how we fell in love in university.
- The happy memories between us that he kept talking about sounded more like a taunt to my naivety and stupidity.
- “Yahan, please believe me! I’ll never do such thing again!”
- Never?
- Was sexual orientation something that could be changed so easily? In that case, why were there so many homosexuals in the world then?
- Besides, I had also done the same thing as he did. I had had an affair with that man named Tang Xiao and there was no use crying over spilt milk now.
- “Let’s get a divorce. Let’s go to the Marriage Registration Office tomorrow to handle the procedure.”
- I was not a decisive person but I was very clear-headed at the moment.
- With such double affairs, our heavily dilapidated marriage was already at the verge of breaking down. Both of us would not be happy if we continued to force this relationship.
- Anxiety crept upon his face. He hugged me tightly, and his hands were so strong that it was absolutely horrifying.
- “Yahan, I won’t divorce you! I absolutely won’t!”
