Chapter 5 The Tattoo

  • The tattoo seemed to be quite old and deeply embedded in the skin, unlike a recent one.
  • If Ashlynn's words were true, then 0825 should be the birthday of the woman he cared about!
  • After all, she knew Asher's birthday was in April, while Asher's parents were both in July.
  • Naturally, it had even less to do with her as her birthday was on November fourteenth.
  • None of those four digits match.
  • Asher was an indifferent man. For him to do something crazy and somewhat childish like getting a tattoo, he must truly love the other person.
  • Amelia suddenly regretted her impulsive actions from last night. Why didn't I think of asking Mr. Fullerton if he's single?
  • Although Asher had a great physique and impressive abilities, she still had strong moral values. Another person's man, no matter how good, was off-limits!
  • "Ashlynn, do you know whose birthday is on August twenty-fifth among the people around Mr. Fullerton?"
  • "How would I know? Prime Financial Group is just a branch of Fullerton, but we already dominate seventy percent of the domestic market in hot investments. Asher is the CEO of the entire Fullerton Group, so I'm not privy to his personal life!"
  • Not being privy to his personal life didn't stop her from finding out, though.
  • Suddenly, Ashlynn remembered something. "Wait a minute, it seems that Waverly Shurmer, the chief counsel of Fullerton Group, celebrates her birthday in August. I've seen her resume. She's wealthy and beautiful. She even trended on social media when she attended an event with Mr. Fullerton. Let me find her photos for you!"
  • "No need," Amelia interrupted promptly.
  • Based on this information, she could see how perfect a couple they were..
  • No wonder Asher was so cold to her. He was probably worried that she might blurt out something. By behaving distantly, he gave others the impression that he was not familiar with her. Even if she did say something, no one would believe it.
  • Ha! I knew it. He must be incredibly shrewd to be able to become the CEO.
  • After ending the call, Amelia returned to her room and quickly freshened up. She changed into comfortable clothes and opened her computer to organize the data for the new project.
  • With her mother's significant monthly medical expenses weighing on her, she had no time to think about love and relationships.
  • She typed away on the keyboard, completely unaware that her silenced phone had lit up several times.
  • When Amelia was too tired to continue and decided to leave the rest for tomorrow, she noticed that Asher had sent her three voice call requests four hours ago, along with a message on WhatsApp.
  • Asher: Reply to me when you wake up.
  • Amelia stared at her phone in confusion, wondering what on earth Asher would want to talk to her.?
  • Obviously, it should be a warning not to speak carelessly or maybe an offer of hush money. If she accepted that money, it would be no different from selling herself.
  • Amelia hesitated for a moment before typing: Let's pretend last night never happened. I won't tell anyone about it.
  • However, right after sending the message, she promptly deleted Asher's WhatsApp contact.
  • This way, he should feel reassured.
  • After setting down her phone, Amelia fell asleep.
  • But she was soon rudely woken up by a call from Benjamin..
  • "Hand over the project contract to Anna."
  • "Mr. Coleman, I—"
  • Before she could finish her sentence, the call was abruptly disconnected. She was given no chance to speak at all.
  • Amelia had no choice but to get up and look for the project contract. However, despite turning her luggage inside out, she couldn't find that folder.
  • She vividly remembered checking it when she first entered the hotel room.
  • Suddenly, Amelia froze.
  • Damn it. I must've left the contract in room 1501 when I escaped hastily!
