Chapter 7 Obsession

  • It was Damian. The human I am to get married to in a few days.
  • What? What was he doing here? I got more jittery than I was.
  • “Yeah, if it’s no other than the boy who gets to marry her,” the bad boy sneered at Damian and his protocols.
  • Damian balled his fist, “Touch her one more time and I will make sure that you rot in prison for a long time,” he threatened. By now, all his minions had deserted him. They stood afar off, telling him to let me go.
  • He hesitatingly released me from his grip “Whatever, Mr singer. Just know that this isn’t over yet, and I rule this school now,” he said, nudging Damian as he walked past. Damian grabbed him by the shoulders and flung him to the floor. It happened so fast that my eyes widened.
  • Woah!
  • “Rule the school for all I care, but you will stay away from this girl. My girl,” Damian thundered, before walking to drag me off.
  • I stared at his profile as we walked past the school corridors into an empty classroom.
  • He— called me his girl. Warmth pooled in my belly.
  • No, focus Sarah. You don’t like Damian, you like your boyfriend .
  • I yanked my hand from his grip. His jaw etched firmly. “Stay away from me,” I said
  • “Don’t think I want this any more than you do! You should be grateful and not be a spoiled brat!” He barked
  • “What?” I scowled at him. “How dare he—”
  • “How dare I call you a spoiled brat?” he completed the sentence, towering over me and backing me to the wall. “I am Damian Delance, and I am not faced by your beauty or curves. I am simply doing charity by agreeing to this marriage,”
  • My anger swelled, and I slapped him before realizing it. He was dazed.
  • “You are an asshole!” I yelled, pushing him as I ran off. When I got to class, all eyes turned to look at me; the teacher and my mates. I stared nervously at my shoes.
  • “Now that you have decided to join us, Miss Wright, please have your seat” the teacher gestured. I nodded sheepishly and went to sit with Zara.
  • Just then Damian walked in, and everybody gasped. Oh, how I loathe him.
  • Then some boys snickered “Timely to have the new couple walking in after each other,”
  • The class roared in laughter. Damian’s hateful glare caught mine as he moved to sit behind me. Then I noticed the flowery girls shooting me some glares.
  • I looked away and tried paying attention to the teaching.
  • “Mr Delance, do walk with me,” the teacher said when class was over. Damian stood to follow him while checking his wristwatch rudely.
  • “Hey, you!” Daisy hit my table, while her minions placed their hands on their hips "Are you both really getting married? Why would he marry you and not anyone better?” She snarled at me.
  • I kept mute
  • "Have you gone deaf? Daisy is speaking to you!" Iris shouted at me, and I scoffed. I already have so much to deal with— than waste my time on some Queen bees.
  • “Why not check the internet, or better yet ask him?” I said cockily, “Or perhaps, he doesn’t even know you exist,”
  • Daisy cheeks burned with embarrassment “I’ll get him, You just watch and see” She fumed, walking off but not before her minions gave me the middle finger. My heart constricted with hurt.
  • “That was so cool, Sarah,” Zara breathed a sigh of relief.
  • “Yeah, my whole life worsened since Damian came into the picture. Now everybody hates me, even my sister.” I bit back the sob clogging my throat.
  • “Oh, dear” Zara pulled me into a hug “but I do not hate you, not for anything in this world. We are going to be best friends for life.”
  • “Thank you,” I smiled.
  • “So what do you want to do about Coleman? Have you told him? ” Zara asked
  • “Not yet, maybe sometime soon,” I shook my head sadly
  • ***
  • It was closing time, and Zara was accompanying me to my car. Mr Idris was waiting. “Don’t worry, everything would work out perfectly.” Zara said
  • “Thank you,” I hugged her tightly. What would I do without Zara? She was my backbone.
  • “Oh my god!” Zara suddenly shrieked., detaching from our hug.
  • "What?" I turned to see her staring at a particular person, It was Coleman.
  • Oh no, what was he doing here?
  • I stared speechless. Coleman was looking so handsome in his black trousers and Shirt. When he got to where we were, he spoke softly to me
  • “Hey,”
  • I had missed him so much, and yearned to hug him. But if I do that, it’ll blow up on the news that I hugged another male.
  • Zara bid me farewell, and I took a deep breath, forcing a smile at Coleman.
  • "I had to come here," he said “I was worried, and felt you’ve been avoiding me for days now. Then there’s also this rumor…"
  • “No, I wasn’t avoiding you. There’s been a lot going on,” I mumbled nervously, chewing my nails “but I have to end this relationship …”
  • He got alarmed and fearful ““Why? Did i do anything wrong?”
  • “I am getting married,” I said with a sob
  • “Why? Is it because you don’t love me anymore?” He asked with a little crack in his voice "Then the rumors are true?" He spoke calmly but I couldn't look at him. I stared hard at my shoes like it was going to save me from the pain and trauma I was having.
  • "I am sorry," was all I could say
  • He tilted my chin to look at him “Please, if anything we have ever meant a thing to you- please come spend the day with me,”
  • I nodded and ordered Mr Idris to go home. I should enjoy every last moment with the man I love. I followed Coleman in old truck, and he took me to his home. This was going to be the second time I was going to his place. We’d always met in parks and eateries because of his job.
  • His parents weren’t home.
  • “Welcome to my humble abode once again,” Coleman dropped his keys on the center table when we entered “Let me get you something,” he smiled and left.
  • Coleman reappeared with 2 glasses of wine. “Thank you,” I mouthed as he sat beside me. I sipped the drink slowly.
  • “Sarah,” He breathed deeply, holding my right hand.
  • “Yeah,” I smiled up at him.
  • "Sarah," he called, looking into my eyes "Don't you think it is time? Especially now that you are getting married…" he said, and my brows furrowed in confusion.
  • "Time for what?"
  • “Time for us to be intimate.” He sighed, kissing my neck.
  • Wait, what?
  • My eyes dilated in surprise as I freed my hands from hold. I pushed him away.
  • Is this why he asked me to come? Did he plan this?
  • "Coleman, take me back home" I stood up from the couch, wearily. My heart thumped rapidly.
  • I know he's still my boyfriend, and we haven’t slept with each other— but I am getting married to someone else.
  • “So he get to have you, and I don’t?” Coleman suddenly grabbed me forcefully, and dumped me on the couch. He unbuckled his belt and muffled my screams with his free hand.
  • Everything was happening too fast.
