Chapter 5 What Are You Up To Now?
- Calm down, Leora. If you lunge at her now, we'll be the ones suffering later. Catherine sensed Leora's fury and acknowledged her own inability to confront the major pack's werewolves. She was about to leave Silverspring Pack anyway, and it was best to avoid any trouble.
- "Well then, I wish you a wonderful night," Catherine thought back to her night with Hansen. To be honest, it wasn't all that great. Overall, she thought the alpha's skills in bed were quite lacking and needed improvement.
- Rolling her eyes, she turned and went to the walk-in closet to pack her things, quickly filling a suitcase.
- "That suitcase belongs to Silverspring Pack, doesn't it? As a maid, you don't have the right to use such an expensive item. I order you to find a bag to pack your things in."
- Soon, Catherine found a shopping bag in the closet. With a dismissive smirk, she asked, "May I use this bag then, Miss Liddell?"
- Then, she crouched down to open the suitcase when she heard Caitlin get out of bed. "I need to check that suitcase again to make sure you haven't stolen any valuables from Silverspring Pack."
- Immediately, Catherine remembered that Caitlin had noticed her pregnancy test report earlier, and Hansen was currently inside the bathroom. If the two discovered the test, she could forget about ever leaving Silverspring Pack safely.
- Caitlin was only sauntering over; Catherine glanced at the deeply hidden pregnancy test and quickly made a decision. Turning her back, she discreetly tore the test into pieces, quickly crumpled it, and swallowed it. Her child had nothing to do with Silverspring Pack, and she would never let Hansen know about the baby.
- Catherine didn't have much to pack. She grabbed the shopping bag and walked out of the closet, coldly stating, "Do you want to inspect it?"
- Caitlin was about to examine things thoroughly but heard the water in the bathroom stop—Hansen was likely almost done. At that, she scowled, "Take that raggedy bag and leave at once! A lowly maid like you wouldn't even have the chance to appear before me in Bloodstone Pack."
- Suppressing her anger, Catherine walked to the estate's gates. The short time felt like an eternity.
- Downstairs, the butler, following Caitlin's instructions, yanked the shopping bag from Catherine's hand and dumped its contents onto the floor as if searching for something.
- Looks like they're searching for the pregnancy test results. Leora realized Caitlin and the butler's goal.
- But they didn't expect me to swallow the report, Catherine sneered as she watched the butler rummaging through her things.
- Just then, her phone rang. As she answered and heard Maggie's voice, tears began to fall.
- Despite everything she had endured on the estate, she had managed not to cry. But hearing Maggie's voice, she couldn't hold back. Her voice choking with emotion, she said, "Aunt Maggie."
- "Cathy, why are you crying?"
- "Aunt Maggie, I signed the bond dissolution agreement. I have no home anymore."
- "What? Your mate doesn't want you anymore?! Oh my Diana, how can that fool not cherish you?!" Maggie was shocked by the mention of bond dissolution. "Don't be sad, my dear! I called to tell you some good news: Your family has reached out to me. You have three biological brothers from Southport and three paternal cousins, all six of them, looking for you. They're all your family."
- Catherine was stunned. "My family? No, no, no. I'm an orphan. I don't have any family." She instinctively rejected the idea of the sudden appearance of a family. If even her mate didn't love her, how could her newfound family?
- "Cathy, don't cry. Come home. We don't need that stinkin' mate! Should I have your brothers come over—"
- Before Catherine could respond, her phone died.
- Cathy, don't be sad. Having family is a good thing. Their search for you means they care, Leora comforted Catherine. In the werewolf world, orphans were easily mistreated, and besides being strong, one needed family support. But Catherine's heart was in turmoil. Family… If they're my family, why did it take them so long to find me?
- "What are you up to now, Catherine?"
- Suddenly, Hansen, in his wolf form, bounded down the stairs and blocked Catherine's path. He had originally intended to let her stay a few more days on the estate and leave after only the bond was officially dissolved. But to his surprise, she had packed up and tried to leave while he was in the shower.
- His crimson eyes scanned the items on the floor with surprise that Catherine hadn't taken any of the branded luxury items he had given her. She was originally just a maid; hadn't she become a Luna for money and status? Now that the bond is about to be dissolved, why isn't she leaving with anything? Can it be that she's planning to ask for a huge alimony during the official bond dissolution?
- Hansen bore into Catherine as his massive form approached her, radiating oppression.
- Catherine rarely saw the alpha in his wolf form. She clutched her dead phone, feeling a mix of fear and excitement from Maggie's news and the fact that Hansen was blocking her path.
- Does he hate me that much? she thought and took a few steps back, saying with unwavering determination, "I'm leaving right now."
- Caitlin, on the steps, looked at Alpha's handsome wolf form with excitement but was infuriated by Catherine's presence. "Alpha, she was packing to leave. I told her to stay a bit longer, but she said she didn't want to see me again and found me disgusting," she said.
- The butler quickly added fuel to the fire. "Alpha, I was just trying to persuade Luna not to leave. But she wouldn't listen, and even scattered her clothes everywhere. Miss Liddell also kindly tried to convince her, but Luna unjustly berated her!"
- What the—are they insane?! How dare they lie so blatantly?! Leora and Catherine were both stunned. Still, she looked at Hansen, wondering what he would say.
- The wolf form of Alpha let out a low growl and then said coldly, "Don't you have anything to say?"
