Chapter 6

  • Zhang Long, who had always looked down on ordinary people, didn’t realize that the moment Amelia lifted her gaze, the corners of her eyes changed.
  • Arrogance, aggressiveness, and ruthless coldness.
  • She casually played with the candy in her hand, then flicked her finger sharply.
  • Bang!
  • Zhang Long’s knees buckled, and he fell heavily to the ground!
  • “Ah!” The sharp pain made his face scrunch in agony.
  • Zhang Long struggled to get up, but he felt as if his entire body had become stiff. His words were trapped, and his hands couldn’t move.
  • It felt as if he had been pressure-pointed?
  • Amelia walked up to him, her voice calm: “As a medical student, you can’t even perform the most basic of diagnostic steps—observation, listening, asking, and palpation—and yet you make judgments? Being a doctor is not about elevating yourself above others; it’s about using your skills to save lives. You have poor medical skills, and even worse ethics. I accept your bow today, as a lesson for your master.”
  • “You—!” Zhang Long’s eyes were filled with hatred.
  • Amelia leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a whisper near his ear: “Since you have such thick skin, kneeling on the street for an hour or two shouldn’t be a problem for you, right?”
  • “What did you do to me!” Zhang Long yelled, “I’m calling the police—someone attacked me!”
  • Amelia smiled slowly, her eyes filled with amusement: “Who’s going to testify? Mr. Zhang, you knelt on your own. I didn’t push you.”
  • “Exactly, it’s what you deserve!”
  • The onlookers couldn’t hide their glee.
  • “That’s right, this little girl hasn’t done anything to you—don’t try to scam her!”
  • In the beginning, Zhang Long had refused to help people. After the little girl saved someone, he mocked her. He had been saying things like "you people from the lower class have short lives" without even a shred of shame. He definitely didn’t deserve to be a medical student!
  • They couldn’t believe he was trying to scam the little girl now!
  • Some elderly women shouted: “Come look! The medical student from Beijing Medical University is kneeling and apologizing now!”
  • “You...you!” Zhang Long’s face turned beet red, as if he had a lump stuck in his throat.
  • Never mess with the passionate aunts from Chaoyang District.
  • Zhang Long had been shouting just moments ago, not realizing where he was. But now, as more and more eyes turned toward him, he buried his head lower, wishing he could crawl into a hole to hide, terrified someone might recognize him.
  • His glare at Amelia became more venomous.
  • Since they were both from the medical field, this little Chinese medicine practitioner wouldn’t go far. He swore that next time he encountered this little brat, he would teach her a lesson.
  • Amelia didn’t bother to look at him again. And if there really was a next time, she wouldn’t hesitate to break his legs.
  • On the other hand, many of the elderly women wanted to get Amelia’s contact information. They had all seen her skill with the needle earlier, and it was miraculous! They had to add her as a contact!
  • Amelia didn’t refuse. She scanned their QR codes one by one.
  • An elderly woman asked enthusiastically, “Young girl, I saw how skillful you were with those needles. Does your family have someone who’s a traditional medicine doctor?”
  • Amelia thought of her grandmother, the only one in the Milton family who had treated her kindly. She came up with a safe answer: “Yes, my grandmother practices traditional Chinese medicine. She runs a health clinic.”
  • “No wonder!” The woman smiled. “Then I’ll introduce some clients to your family!”
  • “Thank you.” Amelia thanked her politely, not showing any airs of being a "miracle doctor." She was the epitome of "hidden in the city" as they say.
  • Throughout the scene, the little boy who had been treated stood quietly by, his big eyes sparkling with curiosity.
  • Once Amelia finished, she glanced down at him: “Are you still dizzy?”
  • The boy shook his head, lifting his little head to look at Amelia: “Sister, thank you for saving Liam. If you hadn’t been here today, Liam would have been gone.”
  • The boy’s voice was sweet, his big eyes round and innocent. As he thanked her, he even bent his little body and bowed.
  • “Your name is Liam?” Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Where are your family members?”
  • “They’re inside!” The boy pointed behind him with his little hand.
  • The Caesar Hotel... that was no place ordinary people could enter...
