Chapter 4 You're My Responsibility
- GAEL (POV)
- I woke up to yet another day, after taking Jeremy's painless shot.
- This time I was awoken by the sound of fingers working on a laptop.
- I took my gaze to the opposite side of my bed, only to see Turstin, yet again, working on his computer.
- I had no idea how he sensed I was awake. Just as I stared at him, he suddenly lifted his gaze to my direction.
- “Hey, pretty boy, you're awake!” He said with a beautiful smile on his face. I blinked and almost blushed when he smiled at me. In order not to make another fool of myself, I slowly took my gaze away from him.
- “Hey, do you need me to get you something to eat?”
- “I'd appreciate that,” I managed to say. Today was better because I was able to lift myself up. Jerry was right. He told me so long he's the one taking care of me, I'll never get crippled. Good thing I trusted him.
- “Good, I'll go get you something to eat then,” Turstin stood up to leave. Just then, I remembered something crucial that I'd been meaning to ask him.
- “Uhm, excuse me,” I said, which made him halt instantly and turn back around.
- “Yes? You need anything else?”
- “Uhm, can I have my belongings? I need to make a call.”
- “Oh, about that, you don't have to worry,” he said with a smile.
- I raised my brow up at him. What is he talking about?
- “Uhm, I don't quite understand you,” I said.
- “I mean, uhm… I've taken sick leave for you at work.”
- “Huh?”
- “I know you must be surprised as to how I found out, but that is something that can be discussed some other day. For now, you should focus on getting better.”
- “I know, but I still have to make some calls -”
- “To your mom, you mean?” I froze.
- “Well, Mr. Turstin, you seem to know a lot about me. I guess you've been stalking my phone and probably went through my information.”
- Turstin only shrugged without saying a word further.
- “I think you also kept something from me as well,” he stated.
- I quickly put my brains to work, trying to think if I ever said something initially that might have contradicted my words now.
- “You don't need to rack your brain. Remember, you pretended not to know who I was.”
- Wait a minute, how on earth did he know was racking my head? Moreover, I can't believe I made a fool of myself.
- “Gael, always be conscious of the things you say, for God's sake.” I reprimanded myself.
- “Well, I never agreed to anything from the start. I never said I had no idea who you were.”
- “Oh, I see, are you going to play the smart guy now?”
- I scoffed at him.
- “Hmm, why don't you play a game with me? When I get back, I want to see just how good you are.”
- A game? Do I even know how to play one?
- “Settled then!” I agreed, even though I'm not good at games. I just don't want him to take the best of me like he did the first day. He might be handsome as hell, but I'm not going to let his handsomeness win over me again.
- *********
- In my time alone, I thought about Turstin. We've actually met three times and in those three times we met, I couldn't help but notice the difference in his personality. This must be the reason he was referred to as a star with versatile abilities.
- In a way, I couldn't help but admire these three personalities.
- He seemed different every day, but in a good way. If I didn't know better, I would have said each of them who came visiting were actually different.
- *******
- Two Weeks Later......
- “Gael, it's nice to see that you're well. I wouldn't have imagined you'd get well so soon, considering the fact that you're human.”
- “That word again. Why do you refer to me as human? You're also human too, are you not?”
- Jerry chuckled loudly.
- “I'm sorry, my bad. I'm just used to using that word around here.”
- “Thanks Jerry, I appreciate your help.”
- “You are very much welcome, my friend,” Jerry said with a brief smile on his face. Those dimples. I shook my head. I wondered why these men were looking this handsome.
- Back in my office, I can't even boast of one handsome guy. Except my best friend, who looked quite handsome. Though, I compare his handsomeness to the two guys I've been around for the past two weeks.
- I quickly put on the clothes which Turstin has bought for me, during one of his visits. He must have thought of what I'd wear when I finally got to leave the hospital.
- That was so considerate of him, I must say.
- After getting all my stuff, I stood up to leave, but Jerry suddenly stopped me.
- “Not so fast. Don't tell me you want to leave on your own?”
- “Well, that's undoubtedly what I intend to do,” I replied. Though I wished Turstin would be there to see me off or at least say goodbye to him, and thank him for taking care of me these past weeks. I knew for a fact that after I left, I'd go back to being that Gael who can only daydream about his crush.
- “I don't know what you're thinking, Gael, the Alpha wouldn't let you leave just like that.
- “Alpha?” I repeated. What the hell is he talking about?
- “Yes, I mean, Turstin,” Jerry corrected.
- Oh, I was wondering why he used the name Alpha a second time. That must be the name Jerry called him. A nickname perhaps,
- Just then, the door to the room flew open. We both took our gaze as Turstin came into view. He looked quite different from the other days. He wore rugged jeans and his hair was dyed black.
- “Hey, Al-”
- Turstin suddenly cleared his throat, disrupting Jerry's greetings.
- “Hey, pretty boy, are you set to go home now?”
- I nodded my head in response. He always had a way of getting me nervous whenever he was around me.
- “Let's go then,” he said. I instantly went wide in shock because I wasn't expecting him to say that.
- “W… what, you're going to take me home?”
- "Yes, you're my responsibility."
