Chapter 5 Escape
- Whitney's path was abruptly blocked before she could take a single step. Instead, the sound of precise footsteps filled her ears as a group of sunglasses-wearing bodyguards dressed in black surrounded her. Their expressionless faces only added to their intimidating presence.
- Whitney's face immediately tensed at the sight.
- Pammy and Muse were also frightened by this oppressive display.
- "Duskwind, should we call the police?"
- Muse, standing beside her, quickly covered her mouth after uttering those words.
- "Do you want to get yourself killed? They're from the Grant Corporation. If you offend the Grant Family, forget about having a career or making a living in Lithberg!"
- Muse's words held truth, as Yoel had always been an unreasonable and self-centered man.
- This aspect of his personality hadn't changed during the four years they had been apart.
- Larry smiled and said, "Miss Stone, we mean no harm to you or your friends. Your friends can leave if you cooperate and come with us."
- Whitney took a deep breath, acknowledging his audacity. However, she knew that she couldn't escape this sticky situation she found herself in.
- Once Pammy and Muse left, Larry respectfully addressed her, "Mrs. Grant."
- Whitney found this address extremely ironic.
- Once upon a time, she happily married Yoel, striving to become a worthy wife for him.
- In the end, all her efforts were in vain. It took her three years to realize that love wasn't the answer to everything and that love alone wasn't enough.
- "Mr. Quinn, Yoel and I are already divorced. Please choose your words carefully."
- The customized Lincoln was parked on a secluded road.
- The car door remained open, revealing a tall figure sitting comfortably in the back seat. He had crossed his long legs while waiting for her arrival.
- However, Whitney wasn't about to take any chances. She stopped at a safe distance from him.
- Yoel's voice carried clear displeasure as he ordered, "Come here."
- Whitney remained motionless.
- "Since we are nothing but strangers, it is more appropriate for us to maintain a safe distance while conversing. Let's avoid any misunderstandings. Besides, it's natural to feel uncomfortable being in close proximity with someone you barely know. Mr. Grant, if you have something to say, just say it. I am busy."
- How bold of her. It seems her bravery has grown significantly over the years!
- Yoel smirked disdainfully before reaching out and grabbing Whitney's arm.
- Judging by the strength of his grip, it was clear that he would drag her into the car if she refused to cooperate.
- Whitney shrieked in fear, "Help!"
- Before she could utter another word, his other hand reached for her throat.
- "Whitney, who gave you the courage to speak to me in such a manner?"
- She instinctively struggled against his grasp. However, the vast difference in strength between them forced her to remain still.
- "Mr. Grant, you dragged me into this car yourself. Do I need to remind you that your fiancée won't be pleased when she finds out about this?"
- Yoel tightly pinched her chin, his grip firm and ruthless. "You never mentioned that when you climbed into my bed and used every means to seduce me, Mrs. Grant."
- He leaned in close, his cool and dangerous breath brushing against her face.
- At that moment, Whitney was reminded of the night before their divorce. That night, they were entangled in bed.
- Whitney felt both humiliated and annoyed once she realized where her mind had wandered.
- "Yoel, we are already divorced. Let go of me, or I will report you for sexual harassment!"
- The man sneered contemptuously, "Divorced? Did I agree to it? Whitney, you're quite cunning. You schemed your way into the Grant Family, slept with me, and dared to run away without a word. Do you really think I wouldn't break your legs for that betrayal?"
- It seemed that he had spoiled this woman excessively throughout their three years of marriage, making her completely oblivious to her position!
- Whitney almost burst out laughing as she replied, "Yoel, could it be that you've actually fallen in love with me? I've already signed the divorce agreement. You are the one who has shamelessly refused to follow through with the divorce. Do you intend to go back on your word? Sure, you might not think that your marital status is an inconvenience. However, I regret to inform you that I find it repulsive."
- Yoel felt his anger rise upon hearing her words.
- No one had ever dared to speak to him in such a disrespectful and defiant manner!
- "You find it repulsive? Is that right? Then, I'll make it clear to you what the consequences are for angering me!"
- Without giving her a chance to react, he forcefully tore her clothes apart. As a result, the buttons of her white silk shirt scattered everywhere! It was as if her clothes were made of paper, not cloth.
- Only then did she start to feel afraid as the cold breeze mercilessly brushed against her skin.
- "Yoel, are you crazy?! What are you going to do?"
- The man sneered, "Naturally, I'm going to make you fulfill your marital obligations!"
- After that, he lowered his head and forcefully kissed her.
- Whitney opened her mouth and bit down hard!
- Hiss!
- Yoel narrowed his eyes dangerously.
- A metallic taste of blood filled his mouth as he licked his wounded lips.
- This woman actually dared to bite him! How audacious!
- Just as he was about to severely punish this ungrateful woman, a tear rolled down from the corner of her eye and fell onto the back of his hand.
- In that instant, his heart felt like it had been scalded!
- "Why won't you let me touch you? Does your so-called boyfriend know how seductive you are in bed?"
- Whitney lost her temper at his disrespect and viciously slapped him across the face.
- "Get lost!"
- The crisp slap stunned Yoel for a moment. She immediately took advantage of his dazed state as she fumbled for the car door. Then, she wasted no time pushing it open and running away.
- "Mrs. Grant!"
- Larry, who was waiting outside, wanted to give chase. Before he could make a move, Yoel stopped him, saying, "There's no need to chase after her."
- Larry opened the car door and saw Yoel leaning against the back of the seat, his tie askew.
- There was a hint of blood staining the corners of his lips. Coupled with his bloodshot eyes and a clear palm print on his right cheek… He looked disheveled.
- It seemed that not only did he fail to get what he had been anticipating, but he had also been harmed by his prey.
- "Mr. Grant, your face!"
- Yoel waved his hand and casually wiped the corners of his mouth with the back of his hand. To his surprise, he was unexpectedly in a good mood.
- Frankly, he hadn't felt this satisfied since this audacious woman had run away and disappeared four years ago.
- "Mr. Grant, that's… Well, are you going to let Miss Stone go just like that?"
- Outsiders might not be aware of what was happening behind the scenes. That wasn't the case for Larry, as he was Yoel's personal assistant. So, he knew very well that Yoel had been searching for Whitney for four whole years!
- Yoel quirked his lips into a mirthless smirk. "She can't escape from my grasp."
- Indeed, she had managed to escape once before. So, how could he possibly allow her to escape a second time?
- She had an affair with him four years ago. Yet, she left behind a divorce agreement, fled, gave birth to their child, and promptly abandoned him. This deceitful woman was unworthy of being a wife, let alone a mother!
- How could he possibly give her any chance of freedom?!
- Two children holding hands emerged from the exit of Lithberg International Airport. The peculiar sight immediately caught the attention of passing travelers, especially when they saw that no adults were accompanying the children.
- "Wow, those two kids are so adorable! They look like delicate dolls come to life!"
- "Are they twins? They're so adorable. Oh, my heart!"
- Unfortunately, Morris and Daisy Stone were not interested in the excitement of those women. Instead, they had a very important task at hand!
- "Morris, we came here without permission. If Mom finds out, will she be angry and not buy candy for me?"
- Daisy held a lollipop in one hand and a pure white stuffed rabbit with lop ears in the other.
- Morris held Daisy's hand and asked her sincerely, "Is it more important to find Daddy or to have candy?"
