Chapter 6
- Chapter 6
- Aubrey
- I was speechless, standing and watching him, I didn't know what to say. I slept with the one man that even the president might be scared to attack and now there is a possibility that I am married to him, oh gosh what do I do?
- Xavier broke the silence with his loud laugh that filled the room, allowing it to echo vastly across the empty warehouse, except it was filled with bodies, dead bodies. Ace, who had just one expression, tilted his head towards Xavier “Is something, Xavier?” He asked, Ace didn’t do anything, all he did was stare and his expression sent shivers down my spine, his lack of expression made it hard to determine his next move while making him more scary and mischievous.
- I gulped down and I turned to Xavier who was also trembling. If his father is truly Don, then he knows quite well that touching or facing the Mafia boss is death. He stepped back and looked away. “All I want is to take my fiance home, is that too much to ask? Just give her to me” He blurted.
- “What part of her is my wife do you not understand?” Ace grunted, as he slowly walked up to Xavier who took steps back to avoid standing close to Ace. Ace halted, he turned to me “She is mine now!”
- He walked up to me, took my hands, and led me out of the warehouse, kicking the bodies along the way like they were nothing, right, he is the king of death…why did that miss that, a couple of dead bodies won’t faze him.
- “I’ll be back for her!” Xavier yelled, our backs were turned to him but we could still hear him loud and clear “I’d love to see you try” Ace replied to him.
- ______
- We both sat in the car and the man that drove us kept looking at us through the rear mirror, each time I was worried he would crash into one of the cars passing but he didn't. Why was he staring? Does he know me?
- “Mike, ask your question and keep your eyes on the road before you get us killed” Ace who was on his phone the entire time we got into the car blurted, how did he know that the man was staring and he called him Mike, do they know each other.
- Mike laughed “Sorry boss, I was just wondering, you haven’t told me where to drop the young lady” He muttered, this time his eyes were on the road and he had a smile on his face, too familiar. “We are taking her home” Ace responded with his full concentration on his phone. I wonder what he is staring at that he doesn't even bother to talk to me. At the hotel he seemed more jovial and friendly, I wonder why he is so cold now.
- “Exactly boss, I don’t know where she lives” Mike muffled, “Oh, 12, South Beverly Street, Valley Estate,” I said to Mike.
- “Thanks” Mike muttered and I nodded
- “Did I ask for your address” I heard his deep voice growl close to my ear, i gulped down in fear not wanting to look at him, i clenched my fist and bit my lips with my head down “Aubrey” He called my name but I didn’t respond “Aubrey” He called again but I was too scared to look at him? Oh God, what have I gotten myself into?
- “AUBREY, LOOK AT ME!” He ordered and I gasped, turning my face to him instantly while panting, his lips parted as he saw me tremble, he gritted his teeth and exhaled looking away for a minute, then his gaze returned to me, he held my hands “You are not going there, you are coming with me, to my house, that is your new home” He said to me. “Mike, we’re going home, the next time I repeat myself, I’ll drop you off on the street and you will walk back to the house”
- My eyes widened but words were too heavy to escape my mouth. I was too shocked by what happened to even express my thoughts on moving in with him. For goodness sake, I barely know this guy. But I guess it didn’t matter because now, we just arrived at his mansion.
- The car stopped as we entered his gate, one of the guards in the compound, got the door for him, he was about to close the door not knowing I was inside when I yelled “Wait” and stepped out, leaving him jaw dropped, he turned to Ace “She is with me, do you have a problem with that?” Ace growled and the guy instantly bowed his head “No, sir”
- “He brought a woman with him”
- “Sir, Ace brought a woman with him”
- “There is a woman with him”
- The workers in the house seemed shocked at the realization that I was with Ace, that they couldn’t help but murmur and if I could hear it then I am sure Ace heard it too but he wasn’t moved by their words.
- What bothers me is why they are surprised that he brought a woman home, I mean, he is the Mafia Boss, I am sure he has brought home a couple of ladies.
- As we stepped into the house my jaw dropped, the outside of the mansion did not do justice to the inside at all. The house was great, it was like every other luxurious mansion, fountain, a pool, a garden with a swing bench but the inside was magnificent. I expected the aesthetic to be black and it was this expensive black, sparkling kind of black. The floor was tiled, the chairs were regular chairs, black, the pillow was wine, settled on the chair, the center had a cream, silver-like rug, and the table looked like the tire of a truck but the top was black glass. Before the chairs was a very big 88-inch Samsung smart TV and a big chandelier hanging at the top. Behind was a big aesthetic Kitchen, one of my favorite parts of the house. I love cooking and the Kitch portrayed my dream kitchen. There were stairs that led upstairs to another mini parlor which was similar to the one downstairs except the one upstairs was more cozy. Next to the parlors are rooms, on both sides. I counted a total of six rooms but there seemed to be other rooms that I could tell there were more than rooms but I couldn't tell what they were.
- “Your room, ma’am” One of the girls said to me and I walked in and my jaw dropped seeing the room. It was three times bigger than my bedroom back at home. The closets were empty. “Your clothes will arrive tomorrow!” She said to me and left the room.
- _____
- Later that evening I went down for dinner. Ace was there with a bottle of wine, pasta, steak, and salad. “Sit.” He said to me in his baritone voice that made me want to be submissive. I gulped down and walked towards him and sat next to him.
- “So, why do I have to move in with you?” I asked
- “Because you are my wife,” He muttered.
- I chuckled, “You said that before, I do not recall us getting married,” I added. He dropped his fork and looked at me “You don’t?” He asked and I shook my head.
- He exhaled, pulled out a paper from the chair next to him and passed it to me, my brows furrowed as I took the file from him. “What is it?” I asked but he didn’t reply.
- I opened the paper and my eyes widened in disbelief, it was my signature on a marriage certificate “What?” I exclaimed
