Chapter 2
- AUBREY
- Xavier walked in a haste, he looked around anxiously like he was searching for something. His hands seemed to tremble as he looked around, I gulped down and reached for the package. “Is this what you are searching for?” I muttered.
- He froze and turned to me, his eyes locked on mine before he gazed at the box in my hands, fully taped and untouched or so he must have thought.
- I smiled and handed it over to him, acting as though I had no idea what was inside, I wanted to know the truth but I didn’t want it to be messy.
- “Oh,” he exhaled, catching his breath and he walked over to pick the box from me, he looked around to ensure it was still tightly sealed. “It’s not mine, it’s belongs to Zach, he sent me a video of the girl he was with last and I know how much you hate it when ladies are filmed during intercourse, I am sorry but I guess you didn’t open it so.” He lied without batting an eye, he looked sincere and every word flowed out like a stream of water.
- If he is this calm with lying to me, while looking me in the eyes, how do I know if he had been lying or telling me the truth this past four years? How do I know which is a lie and what is true?
- “So the package is not yours?” I asked, gazing deep into his eyes.
- “It’s not,” he answered firmly, looking back at me with a smile, he grabbed his keys “I have to go now,” he said, walked towards me and placed a kiss on my forehead and left the house.
- Xavier is cheating on me.
- What the fuck?
- For how long?
- Who is the lady?
- My mind was filled with a series of questions but there was only one thing I could do, find out the truth. I pulled myself together, grabbed my keys and dashed out of the house as well.
- “Alexa! Turn off the lights!” I yelled and got into my car, I paused to watch all the lights in the house go off before I zoomed after Xavier.
- I slowly tailed him as he drove through the highway, this was a new route. Normally, Xavier goes to his family house or his personal studio then Zach’s place but this route we are, I have no idea where it leads.
- His car stopped and so did I, ensuring I kept a reasonable distance from him, I watched him get off his car and rested by the door while he waited for someone and as he placed the phone on his ear, he waved his hands to someone, turned to see who it was and I felt a sting in my chest. It was Sandy, my best friend Sandy.
- She ran into his arms and he carried her with all his might before placing a kiss on her lips, “I missed you.” i read his lips I gasped as my heart broke as I watched my best friend and my fiancé make out before he watched her into his car and Zoomed off.
- My heart felt crushed, I felt broken, betrayed and agitated. I screamed out like my life depended on it, I groaned, hit the wheel of my car over and over and over till I felt the bones in my hands crushed but it didn’t matter, the pain I felt in my heart was worse.
- What should I do?
- Should I confront them?
- Should I return the ring?
- Should I …
- Why should I return the ring? I waited four years just to experience this and trash the ring?
- No, I’ll have to make them pay and I will make him pay for this.
- TWO DAYS LATER Xavier returned home, he grabbed me by the waist, twirled me around while placing a kiss all over me.
- He pouted and squinted his eyes, “I missed you so much, my love.” He whispered into my ears.
- I giggled, hugging him, “I missed you too.” I pouted before pulling away from him. “Which is why …” I paused rushing over to grab an invitation card by the table. “I made a reservation at the restaurant that you like.” I cheered and handed him a pass.
- It’s the Hera hotel that has the best restaurant in the city. Getting a reservation there was as tough as booking an appointment with the President but thanks to my reputation as a renowned Model, booking a reservation at that hotel was not as hard as an average person would go through.
- “What?” He cheered, carrying me into his arms. He had always wanted to visit the restaurant but they kept denying his request. “Thank you babe,” he said, muffled with a kiss on my cheek.
- We both got ready to leave, he wore a black shirt and beige pants with a silk shoe, his Rolex wrist watch, his knuckle ring and his favorite cologne. For me I wore a red dress, with a sharp front and a closed back, a sparkling diamond necklace, a silver shoe and a purse, I used my cologne and joined Xavier downstairs.
- His brows furrowed, “Aren’t you a little overdressed?” He blurted.
- I smirked, “Trust me, this is the perfect dress for this sort of occasion.” I said to him.
- He nodded, with no choice but to accept my dress, we got into the car and zoomed off to the restaurant.
- On getting to the entrance of the hotel, he stepped out of the car, gave the keys to the chaperone and walked to the guard who we then gave the card of our invitation to the restaurant.
- We walked into the restaurant, took our sit at our reserved table and waited for our meal to get served I locked eyes with Xavier and he smiled while munching on the food placed on his table, “I love you, Aubrey, this is beauty, I can’t believe you got an invitation, thank you.” he muffled I smirked His brows furrowed as he noticed I didn’t take a bite from my food.
- “Why aren’t you eating?” He asked I pulled out my phone, searched for the picture I took of him cheating with Sandy and placed it before him. His jaw dropped as he gazed at me. I could tell he was confused. I found out he was cheating but here I am bringing him to his dream restaurant, eating his favorite bolognese pasta with a bottle of his French wine.
- “Aub, Aubrey, I .. I ..” he stuttered and I nodded for him not to say a word with a finger lifted.
- “I will get up now and I will sleep with whatever man that I bump into and then we call it even.” I blurted “What?” He gasped
