• It was strange, having them here. The house felt different, fuller in a way that was both comforting and unnerving. For so long, it had been just me, and now with Ruby, Emma, and Justin settling in, there was life in every corner—footsteps echoing through the halls, the sound of laughter, and sometimes cries from Justin. But it was good. It was necessary.
• Emma and I were curled up on the couch, a book open in my lap as I read to her. Her small body was tucked under my arm, her head resting against my chest, her eyes growing heavier with each word I read. It was one of those moments that made everything feel right, even if just for a little while.
