Chapter 8

• Daniel stared at the unconscious man who was tied and seated in the empty room, he felt a surge of anger the moment he saw him, if it wasn't for this man's betrayal years ago, perhaps, his mother would still be alive.
• He had vowed on his mother's grave that he would avenge her death and he meant to keep that promise because he would fish out everyone who was involved in one way or the other. Directly or indirectly and he will deal with them one after the other.
• He slowly sat on the empty chair that was situated right in front of Rollo and stared hard at him. With a kick on his knee, Rollo grunted and slowly opened his eyes.
• "Who are you?" He asked as he tried to disseminate Daniel's look in the shadows but he couldn't quite catch it.
• This was one thing Daniel loved about the moon house, he could always see his prey but none of them could see the face of their predator. The harsh light in the room was solely focused on Rollo's face and he wouldn't be able to see past that light.
• "I said who are you?" Rollo yelled, his tone was laced with panic
• Daniel chuckled sardonically, "I heard that Nicholas Calvin gave you a cottage and share in his company right after the sudden and mysterious death of his mistress"
• "I...I...I.... don't know what you are talking about, let me go this instance"
• "Wrong answer" Daniel replied coldly and snapped his fingers, Marcus appeared and took the electric baton from the table, and at Daniel's nod, he pierced it into Rollo's belly.
• Rollo screamed in agony as an electric current zapped through his body, Daniel held up his hand and Marcus stopped
• "Now, let's try this one more time. I . 'm curious about why Nicholas Calvin will give you that cottage all of a sudden, what exactly did you do for him?"
• "What does it matter to you?" Rollo groused
• "You are not the one asking the questions here"
• "Look, I don't know who you are or what your intentions are, but I should warn you that I deal with people who are very dangerous and powerful. Rick Carlos is my very good friend, he is very popular and deadly, you should know who he is in the underworld and you know the worst thing for you? Rick has connection with Nikolai Klaus, one call to him and you're dead" Rollo threatened, he suddenly feels very confident in all the connections he has, if his friend, Rick Carlos finds out what this good-for-nothing moron has done to his friend, he will kill him for sure.
• He expected his abductor to grow shaky in fear at the names he mentioned but was surprised to hear his soft mockery
• "Oh really?" Daniel's tone sounded amused because he was definitely feeling amused

• "Alright, I will let you go but after this" Daniel replied and brought out his phone, he dialed a number and put the call in speaker mode
• "Hello, Rick Carlos on the line" a voice answered from the other end and Rollo's eyes widened, who was this man that had Rick's number in his phone and even dared to call him
• "It's me" Daniel replied curtly and for a moment, there was tensed silence on the other end
• "Hello Mr. Klaus, it's been a while...I am surprised to see your call, I hope one of my boys hasn't offended you"
• "Oh certainly, although, I don't know if I should call him your boy, he goes by the name Rollo and he is really daring me"
• "I am so sorry Mr. Klaus, you can do whatever you wish to him, he is one of the insignificant people in my group"
• "Alright then, have a nice day" Daniel hung up and glared at Rollo, "Now what?
• "A....are y...you N... Nikolai Klaus?" Rollo stuttered and broke out in cold sweat, it suddenly dawned on him the weight of the mess that he was in
• "Now, let's start our conversation again but I must warn you, this is the last time I will start this conversation from afresh
• "I...I... I didn't do anything, please spare me"
• "Are you aware that that cottage given to you belonged to Nicholas Calvin's dead mistress? A lady he spurned and rejected, yet, he is the owner of almost all her wealth when they were not even married"
• "S...she gave them to him Sir"
• "Lies! Impossible" Daniel yelled, his mother was the only child of a super-rich multi-billionaire couple and they left all their fortune to her when they died. She had been heartbroken when she found out that Nicholas Calvin was married and vowed to cut all ties with him and raise her child on her own, he was sure that she couldn't have left even a dime for him
• "I see that you are in this plot with Nicholas Calvin, why did he give you that cottage? Nicholas is not someone to just give gifts randomly"
• "I...I....did something for him, I helped his wife when she was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver and he was so grateful to me for saving his wife, so, he offered that cottage to me"
• Daniel narrowed his eyes at him, it's so typical of his dad to easily give out his mother's property, he will not allow him to do as he pleases with his mother's wealth and even if that is the last thing he does, he is going to get back everything that belongs to his mother.
• "I want that cottage"
• "What? You can't do that to me, you...."
• "Shhhhh....those weren't yours to begin with were they?"
• "And who are you to get it back? What does it matter to you?"
• "Let's just say it's very personal...a lot more personal than you think"
• Daniel opened his palms and some documents were placed in his hands, "all you need to do is to sign here and that's it"
• "No, I won't sign, I have already put it up for auction, you can buy it if you please "
• Daniel raised a brow, "you dare to bargain with me?" Rollo shuddered at his tone but tried to put on a brave front "You should take my offer now that I am generously asking because you are going to sign these documents...dead or alive" Daniel lowered his tone at the last statement for it to be very effective and get the impact he wants.
• Rollo shuddered and his hands shook a bit as he unwillingly signed the documents, relieving the cottage to Daniel
• "Now, that wasn't so hard, was it? Let's move to the next matter"
• "What other matter? That's the only thing he Nicholas gave me, I swear, please let me go"
• "I believe you have something that belongs to me, you disguised yourself and stole a pen drive containing important information from me"
• "I...I...I... don't know..."
• The cracking of bones had him screaming as Daniel twisted his wrist until his bones could be heard cracking"
• "Wrong answer" Daniel whispered softly, not making any attempt to let go of Rollo's hand
• "You dare to steal from Nikolai Klaus and you think I wouldn't find out?"
• Sweat beaded Rollo's forehead and he gnashed his teeth in pains
• "Where is my pen drive?"
• Rollo was silent for a moment and Daniel held onto his second hand, "Please don't, I'll tell you. Nicholas Calvin sent me, that was what I did to earn that cottage but I don't know what's in that pen drive neither do I know where it is now"
• Daniel gritted his teeth in anger, his father asked for Nikolai Klaus's pen drive? The ironic thing is that his father did not even know that his bastard son was Nikolai Klaus. That was a name Daniel chose to give himself when he decided to go into the underworld and live a life of mystery. He will have to get that pen drive by all means.
• He slowly stood up and stared at Rollo, bringing out a shotgun from his belt, he aimed at Rollo, "What were you thinking when you decided to steal from Nikolai Klaus?"
• "P... please don't kill me, I swear at that time I didn't know the person I was sent to steal from was Nikolai... please have mercy"
• Daniel clenched his jaw, his eyes cold, he looked as formidable as his name in the underworld. His gaze narrowed in slits as he aimed at Rollo's knees and aimed.
• A shot rang out but of course, the moon room is soundproof, no one from outside will hear a thin.
• Rollo screamed in agony and fell on the floor, "this is a warning for you to take to Nicholas Calvin, tell him that Nikolai Klaus is coming and will certainly bring him down"

• Daniel snapped his hand and Marcus appeared by his side immediately, "you know what to do"
• "Yes boss" Marcus nodded and Daniel walked out of the moon room.

• Bella yawned as she stared at the time, it's so late already, where could her husband have gone, he had excused himself to make a phone call and that was it.
• Has something happened to him? She found herself being worried for him despite everything and the worst thing was that she did not even have a phone to call him.
• She sighed, perhaps she was worrying for nothing and he was perfectly okay wherever he was. Some kind of marriage huh? Where neither the wife nor the husband tells the other anything, this is far from the kind of marriage she had imagined for herself but unfortunately, Jeremy ruined everything for her, he destroyed her dreams and her confidence and she would never forgive him for that.
• Placing her head on the table, she fell asleep while waiting for her husband to return.
