Chapter 6

• Laura got back to the office very excited and immediately gives Clara a hug; Clara knew instantly that she has been able to turn the situation around in their favor.
• “So how did it go?” she asked curiously and Laura motion for them to go inside her office to talk.
• “Remember I told you we were old school mate”
• “I also remember you said you didn’t really have a nice story together” Clara said recalling her words
• “I don’t know how it happened but he easily gave up the deal for me” she said.
• Clara turns away from her in disbelieve and chuckles nervously
• “Won’t he be really stupid to give up such huge contract to you because you are old schoolmate”
• “I don’t know; he was so cool about it. I guess he was blown away by my stunning appearance” Laura joked.
• “But are you sure we can trust his word? This deal is something that will bring his company to the next level and he just gives it up for someone he isn't even close to” Clara said with doubt
• “Why are you so negative about this? Shouldn't you be happy? At least now we can stop worrying for a while and try to get things in a more stable condition”
• “Okay fine, so when are we meeting with him officially?” Clara queries
• “Tuesday, prepare to work overnight. I need to make a good impression and also maintain the reputation of the company” she said and left to change her clothes.
• Clara smiled as she left and immediately pick her phone then puts a call across to Avan.
• “I think she did it” she said and end the call.
• Clara sighed troubled and paced around the room restless, she started working with Laura immediately after graduation and has since then been hired by Avan to report every of her moves and action in the company.
• She met with Avan back in the university and the two starts to date each other although she knows about his engagement to Laura but she doesn't mind and promised to help with him plan then they can both be together without any worries.
• When Avan asked her to work with Laura at first she refused but then agreed so she can keep her enemy close.
• After all the effort they tried to make her give up the company to Avan, she refused and has continued to hold on
• Making her lose this deal was a perfect plan to make her give everything up and she has made sure that a fake proposal was submitted but this new classmate is about to ruin their plan.

• Laura entered Chris's company putting a two piece clothes with a white purse and heels to match.
• She walks in together with Clara and walk to the receptionist who direct them straight to Chris office where they met with his secretary.
• “We are here to see the CEO we have an appointment” Clara said and he immediately went inside to inform Chris then came out almost immediately
• “He will like to see you alone” she said turning to Laura.
• Laura asked Clara to wait and walk inside, she sees Chris behind his desk with glasses on and could help but picture him as the Chris she knows in the past
• He has his glasses on and always has a book in his hand whenever she saw him.
• “Have a seat” Chris’s word break into her thoughts and she quickly made her towards the chair in front of him.
• “I will have my secretary get us something to drink. What will you like?” he asked politely
• “Anything is fine” she replied and took a seat.
• Chris called his secretary giving him some instructions then sat down to attend to Laura after their drinks has been served
• “About Saturday night, I just wanted to confirm your words if they still stands” she said going straight to the point
• Chris took his coffee and sips it quietly then raise it up in his hands without a word.
• “Why don’t we discuss further on it then, like I said I will agree to any condition you give” she said again
• “What if I ask you to hand over Lovelies to me?” he said and watches the horrified look on her face.
• “Just kidding” he said smiling and place down his drink.
• “This is the biggest project our company will get and I am sure you know giving your company the rights to execute it is not something little, you should be ready to make a big sacrifice for it”
• “As long as you don’t ask for the company and it is within my reach then I will surely give it” Laura replied canceling out the possibility of offering him her company.
• “Let’s married” he said loudly and Laura drop the cup in her hand spilling the content on the floor.
• Ken comes inside and quickly clean up the place and throw away the broken piece replacing it with another cup of coffee
• “What did you just say?” she ask to be sure she didn’t just imagined his words
• “Let’s get married” Chris repeated
• “Do you know what you are saying? You want the both of us to get married?You must be kidding me” she rushed words at him adjusting her sitting position
• “Are you joking with me?” she asked when she didn’t get any reaction from him
• “Do I look like I am?” he questioned back
• “I am engaged and soon to be married” Laura laid out to him but he doesn’t look fazed by that
• “You can break off your engagement, it’s not like you are married yet” he replied nonchalantly
• “What? Why would I cancel my engagement because of you?”
• “It’s not like you haven’t done it before” he retorted
• “What on earth…” she was saying then stopped realizing what he meant, he does have a grudge against her
• “That was an invalid engagement and you ran away first” she responded
• “Not like this one is valid too, you didn’t get any of your parent consent did you?” he continued sarcastically
• “That is none of your business Mr. Hugh, is this why you agreed so easily the other day? To reminisce on something already in the past?” she asked getting annoyed
• “What if I am married?” Laura throws the question at him
• “You are not” he answered and continued
• “Remember you promised to do anything as long as it’s within your capability, I don’t think something like this should be so difficult for you”
• Laura glare at him for using her words against her and immediately regrets saying that without much thinking, she should have known that the quiet innocent Chris is gone.
• “If you are not okay with that condition then you can leave” he said waving her away
• Laura sat there for a few seconds before she stood up and left his office.
• Clara came up to her but seeing her bad mood and understands that the deal must have fallen through, she quietly walk behind her and they both exit the building
• Josh was about to enter Chris’s office to give him some report when he saw Laura exiting his office and followed her to make sure he is not mistaken.
• He has refused to believe that Chris will actually give up the contract just like that but seeing her here makes him even more curious and hurried into his office.
• “I am sure my eyes are not deceiving me, that’s the CEO of LOVELIES group of company isn't it?” he asked as he sat in front of him and Chris nodded his head to indicate yes
• “Oh my god! You can’t believe how much I’ve always want to meet with her but have been unable to but she came to meet you herself, twice!”
• “Is that why you are in my office in the middle of the day?” Chris asked feeling irritated.
• “What did you do to make her angry? She doesn't look pleased” Josh questioned not giving up
• “I asked her to marry me” Chris answered
• “What!!!” he shouts and stare in awe at him
• “Are you crazy? Everyone knows she is engaged” he said
• "I know that very well” he replied
• “Then why did you… don’t tell me you still like her?” he said and Chris threw a book at him
• “If you don’t then why… do you want to avenge on her for looking down on you years back?” Josh said making random guesses
• “I just need someone to get mum off my back” Chris told him knowing he won’t give up until he answer his questions.
• “You can have any woman you want, why go for someone who is taken?”
• “Mrs. Hugh won’t agree for just any woman” Chris muttered
• “You better hurry if you are really sure you don’t want to be with Mira, I heard she made an announcement online about your relationship” Josh informed him and took a seat then picks up Laura’s coffee to drink it.
• Chris snatched the cup from him and drinks the whole in a go then hides the cup from him.
• “What a stingy man”
• “Are you that free as a CEO, don’t you have work to do? I am busy so see my secretary if you have anything” he said ignoring his complaints and focused on his work.
