Chapter 4

  • ~ Rolf ~
  • I was staring in admiration with a quickening heartbeat at the sight before me, it was an exciting moment for me. I couldn't believe The Moon Goddess gifted me a stunning beauty as a second chance mate.
  • My wolf, Zephyr squealed inside me nudging me to move closer to our mate who was lying down on the king-size bed sleeping peacefully. Her sparkling blue orbs were shut with her long eyelashes in view, her platinum blonde hair splattered over her face and I could swear it was the most enticing thing I have ever seen.
  • She looked like a fairy with her porcelain flawless ivory beige skin tone, a straight pointed nose, and full heart-shaped lips on display begging for my attention as I ran my hands through it, I felt an electrifying jolt which tingles down my skin making me shivered slightly at the impact. It was the best feeling ever. I couldn't wait for her to wake up and get to know her properly.
  • I ran my hands through my hair heaving a long sigh pacing back and forth in the room as it had been five hours she had been sleeping after she fainted.
  • I picked up my call connecting it to a call with the human doctor to check her up again as he'd assured me she would probably be awake by now. The call connected almost instantly.
  • "Hello, Rolf Hudgens on the line, she hasn't woken up," I divulged on the phone getting straight to the point.
  • "Ooh yes, let me come to check her up " he replied, I could feel the distress in his voice and rolled my eyes as to why he was afraid.
  • My first encounter with my second chance mate didn't seem too good as she collapsed right onto my hand scaring me to the wits.
  • I couldn't decipher what was wrong with her and I don't freaking know what to do, she seems like a human but gives out a faint wolf scent making me wonder who she is. I had to call for an emergency right when I got to the hotel room and the human doctor was wasting the hell outta my time and I had no choice but to scare him off.
  • "Are you there? Mr. Hudgens," he called out interrupting my thoughts as I had drifted off.
  • "Yeah, come to my room now ". I declared ending the call, I couldn't wait any longer and I was running out of patience.
  • I was still lost in thoughts when I heard a light knock on the modern solid wood core exterior door. I pushed the door open revealing a ginger-haired man in his mid-forties straightening his collar tie with a stethoscope around his neck.
  • He dropped his hand almost an instant on noticing the door had been opened.
  • "She has been sleeping for six hours straight without blinking an eye, you freaking told me she's under stress and nothing else, what the hell is wrong with her?" I yelled, my voice a bit higher than usual which echoed in the room, right at the corner of my eyes I could see the human doctor trembling.
  • I sighed leading him to the bedroom where the girl was, he checked her temperature, and her heartbeat and forced her eyes open checking her iris.
  • I am in the blink of ravaging the useless human doctor, I just want her to be alive, I want to talk to her. I want to get to know her, I ran my hands through my hair in frustration knowing I had been conveying too many emotions in front of the human doctor, I could feel Zephyr's frustration too. I couldn't bear to lose this mate too.
  • I almost ran berserk losing my first mate, it was a tragic moment that couldn't be wiped out from my brain no matter how hard I tried.
  • --------------
  • A few days back
  • "Mum, Mum" I called out with a sharp tone as the maids all bowed making way for me.
  • "Son, what's the matter" She shrieked crossing her arms on her chest and exiting her room.
  • "Mum, you've got to be kidding me, why would you make such a ridiculous request at my back". I yelled out running my hands into my hair in frustration.
  • "It hasn't been a year, Mom, how would you ask me to do that knowing fully well I am still grieving her" I shouted grinding my teeth with clenched fists.
  • She shook probably by the aura I let off as I realized I might have been too hard on her since she didn't utter a word.
  • "I was saying you shouldn't have done that after you knew what I have been through" I whispered lowering my tone while rubbing my palm on the neck.
  • "But... The Pack needs a Luna, someone to rule them " She shot staring fiercely at me.
  • "The pack needs an heir, you don't think you are still young right?" She muttered glaring daggers at me with her green orbs.
  • "Mum, I will sort myself out, not just a useless ceremony that might put me in trouble later on" I snapped back at her releasing my dominant aura, she smirked staring at me composing herself.
  • "You know you're my son, I knew you like the other side of my palms and don't you ever try to intimidate me, it won't work anymore" She declared waving her hands at me with her mouth twitching.
  • "Pick a Lady you could marry for the position of the Luna and get married to her, that's simple if you don't wanna follow my orders" She divulged narrowing her eyes at me with a creased brow.
  • "You don't tell me what to do, Mum" I snapped back at her raising my voice, my eyes turning red.
  • She shrieked backing away from me in fear darting her eyes, I followed the direction of her eyes and saw Irene making her way to my Mum holding her.
  • "What the hell is going on here?" Irene shouted at me glancing at me with furrowed brows.
  • My mum breaks down sobbing quietly with her green eyes shimmering with tears while wiping them away with the palms of her hands.
  • I blinked my eyes with my jaws dropped agape, my brain still not processing what just happened. "Did she just fake a cry?" I asked my inner self who tugged and smirked at me.
  • "Rolf, what the heck have you done to make her cry" Irene yelled bowling her fists and consoling Mum stroking her back.
  • I was still in shock and looked over at Mum who was crying profusely to make me succumb to her dealings with her fake cry. My inner self tugged at me feeling like shit seeing tears rolling down her cheeks.
  • "You can quit the act, Mum--- " I muttered under a low breath with a sigh escaping my lips.
  • "He thinks I am faking an act, this wasn't the son I gave birth to, he isn't my son---" She choked stuttering every word.
  • "How am I unlucky in this life, raising a son that would disobey me, a son that would intimidate me " She cried out looking over at Irene who was patting her back.
  • "If your father was alive, he would have -----" She whispered stiffening her cries.
  • "Mum, that's enough" I fired at her clenching my fists knowing I would soon dance to her tune.
  • "He is still shouting at me, Irene " She stared at me hiding her face behind Irene's back.
  • "Ok, I will look into it" I groaned grinding my teeth in between.
  • "Just do what you want to do with it and get to it right away" Irene muttered glaring at me.
  • "It's not for you to talk about" I snapped at her glaring at her with a fury in my hazel eyes mixed with red as I spoke in a harsh tone.
  • "But-----"My mum looked up to what I had to say.
  • "I am going to do it willingly by myself, I will take care of it, not a ceremony with a bunch of spoilt brats hovering around for attention " I declared grinding my teeth and squinting my eyes.
  • My mum looked over at me with a creased brow wanting to know what was going through my head.
  • My Beta rushed in interrupting the moment, I looked at him with a grimaced look wondering what could make him rush in at the Alpha's residence with such speed.
  • "Alpha Rolf---" He stuttered catching his breath and looking over at my mum and my twin sister.
  • "Cat got your tongue, Speak Up" I growled...
  • "The wolfsbane distributor has been tracked," He said as a deafening silence erupted letting my dominant aura out while my countenance hardened with Mum's crestfallen and concerned look.
  • "Irene, Jane, I leave you to the duties, I know you guys are capable of running the affairs of the Alpha as it runs in your blood". I disclosed muttering with my eyes darting from Jane's blue irises and Irene's amber eyes.
  • "Take care of the pack till I am back and take care of Mom," I said to them, these are the longest conversations I have had with my siblings ever since the incident.
  • We were pretty close before the incident, they were a pain in the ass. Jane and Irene are identical twins with only their eyes being different.
  • My thoughts were interrupted when I felt a pair of sparkling orbs staring intently at me.
  • "She's awake," Zephyr squealed inside grinning widely.
