Chapter 10 He Has a Gun!
- Dexter had no idea who this man was. However, seeing his wife lying in the arms of that man gave him the feeling that the relationship between them was more than met the eye. Not only had they been looking into each other’s eyes for more than a minute, but they also kept whispering among themselves. The sight of them distressed him greatly.
- “Who the f*ck are you?! What does this matter have to do with you?!” He was filled with resentment. Even so, he had the feeling that this man was not as simple as he thought—the man in front of him exuded a powerful aura just from his gait. More importantly, Isaac’s expression seemed a little unnatural when he saw this man.
- “Little Dex, let me tell you; this man is the one who stole your wife’s virginity. He was also the one that took your wife away when we were lying in bed together at the hotel the other day. Sigh. Little Dex… I don’t know how long you’ve been cheated on. It makes me feel bad for you. But, those are your private affairs. Please settle it among yourselves.” Isaac was an intelligent man. Having suffered at the hands of Lucas twice, he still did not dare to act rashly even though he had more men with him this time. He wanted Dexter to butt heads with Lucas so that he could see what Lucas was capable of. It won’t be too late even if I make my move after that.
- “Go; investigate that man’s background. Be quick about it,” he carefully instructed one of his men standing next to him. A young man glanced at Lucas and nodded before rushing out of the room.
- Lucas studied Dexter before showing a look of disdain. “So, it’s you? The one who abandoned your wife and child for the sake of glory and riches?”
- Iris was taken aback. What? Abandoned his wife and child? We don’t have any children between us to speak of! I wonder if this man actually understands what he is saying… Or, is he just saying whatever comes to mind?
- “Those are my private affairs. You don’t have the right to criticize me. Rather, I want to know where you popped out from, you b*stard. Why were you with her?” Dexter lifted a finger and pointed at Iris.
- Lucas turned back to look at Iris. He didn’t know either—Why do I keep coming out of the shadows to help this strange woman? I would never have done this in the past. “Who am I? You’ll know if you ask your wife.”
- “Stop with the nonsense. I’m telling you; I can sue you for rape over the incident from the other day. Brat, you won’t be able to escape from this.” After Dexter finished saying that, he took out his phone and shook it lightly in front of Lucas. It could be considered a threat. Unfortunately, he was threatening the wrong person—Lucas was not one to be easily scared.
- “Hahahaha.” Lucas threw his head back and laughed heartily. The presence he gave off made Dexter shiver slightly in fear. “Why don’t you ask your wife; was she a voluntary participant the other day?”
- What an arrogant manner of speaking. Are you saying I did it voluntarily?! Iris knew better than anybody else. If it wasn’t for the drugs, I would never have done something like that! But, I have no choice but to acquiesce to his words under these circumstances. Damn it! I let him get one over me again!
- “Stop making a fool of yourself. I slept with him voluntarily. I should also tell you that I was the one to make the first move. Are you satisfied now?” She didn’t know what she was thinking when she said those words. In any case, she felt extremely refreshed after blurting out those words.
- “You b*tch! You slut—” Dexter reached out and ran toward Iris while shouting. “W-What are you doing?!”
- All of a sudden, Lucas whipped out a pistol from somewhere. The black muzzle of the gun was pressing against Dexter’s head. Dexter had never been so intimidated in all his life. He had never had a gun pointed at his head before, much less seen a pistol like that in his life.
- Isaac gasped. I guessed right. This man’s authority is above mine. Fortunately, I didn’t step forward myself. Otherwise, the gun would be pointed at me right now.
- “Kneel!” Lucas practically roared that word in an extremely imposing tone.
- “Okay, okay. I’ll kneel. Please, be careful. Don’t accidentally pull the trigger.”
- Life sure is unpredictable. Dexter was swaggering left and right just now. All it took was an instant, and now, he is kneeling on the ground before me. Iris couldn’t help feeling delighted. At the same time, she also felt a little scared. Why is this person carrying a gun?
- Lucas was now in control of the situation. It has been many years since I last returned to the country. I can’t believe the people here are still so afraid of guns.
- “Sure, sure. I’ll kneel too.” Isaac saw Lucas’ eyes drifting toward him. That sharp gaze looked as if it was about to spit fire at any time.
- “Listen well; Iris Parker is my woman now. If any of you dare to harm her again, you will learn that my gun doesn’t discriminate against its targets. Also, you there. Remember this well; you’re not a man at all. You had a beautiful woman by your side, yet you couldn’t even hold on to her, allowing me to take advantage of a loophole. What a pity.” Lucas kept clicking his tongue. His tone was bragging and mocking at the same time.
- If anybody had been kneeling on the ground, they would have seen how pathetic Dexter looked at that moment. Sweat dripped profusely from his forehead. Despite hearing such insulting words, he could only grit his teeth and clench his fists but he did not dare to say anything—the man in front of him was not somebody he could afford to provoke.
- Just then, a young man slipped in through the door. When he saw the scene in front of him, he was so shocked that his mouth was agape—his boss was kneeling on the floor. Looking up, he finally caught a glimpse of the shiny pistol. Thus, he tremblingly knelt down as well.
- “Why did you kneel too? What’s going on?” Isaac frowningly asked in a whisper.
- The young man nodded anxiously, brought up something on his phone, and showed it to Isaac. Glancing at it, Isaac suddenly became so nervous that even his expression began to change. He stood up tremblingly and spoke to Lucas. “I… I was forced to participate in this. I didn’t want to do this to Miss Parker either. It’s all Dexter’s fault. He made me do this. I won’t do this again. A-Also, I just remembered that I have something else going on so I won’t be joining in on your discussion. I’ll be taking my leave.”
- Lucas did not respond. He simply glanced at Isaac out of the corner of his eye before turning back to Dexter again. In the first place, Dexter was the main star of today’s show. Isaac was simply an extra. Seeing that Lucas was keeping silent, Isaac brought his men with him and fled from Iris’ home in a panic.
- Iris finally breathed a sigh of relief. Isaac’s panicked escape indicated that half of this matter was resolved. Still, she couldn’t help feeling strange. She had been watching Isaac’s movements carefully. Thus, she noticed that his expression turned ugly after seeing something. What on earth did he see? Does it have something to do with this man’s background?
