It wasn't very late when I left the building, so I hurried downstairs, turned off the live stream, and flagged a taxi. My plan was to spend the night at a nearby hotel before finding a temporary place to stay. I had all the important things with me—there was no immediate need to return to what Leonard called home.
As soon as the livestream ended, my phone rang. Evaline was calling. “What's going on between you and Leonard?” she asked, her tone laced with concern.
