Chapter 5 What Haven't I Seen on You?
- A sweet scent filled the air, stunning Whitney.
- She felt a soft tug at her heart and instinctively wrapped her arms around the little girl. The tender, delicate feeling in her arms nearly melted her.
- Unable to resist, she examined the girl closely, growing fonder of Bianca by the second.
- She thought she was such a sweet little girl—practically irresistible!
- Bianca, shy and cautious, nestled into her embrace, her cheeks flushing red.
- Normally shy and reserved, Bianca had never behaved this way before. She couldn't help but wonder if her boldness would make Whitney dislike her.
- When she felt Whitney's protective hug, she seemed to gain courage, even feeling warmth spreading to the tips of her ears.
- Her heart raced. Without thinking, she raised her arms and gently hugged Whitney's neck.
- Whitney froze again.
- She could feel the small body trembling slightly in her arms, as if there was a trace of fear.
- Moments later, she smiled warmly and said, "Bianca, you are such a lovely girl. Let me hold you a little longer."
- With that, she hugged the little girl even tighter.
- After a few moments, she gently released her and said, "I'm going to make some juice for you all. Bianca, you can keep playing with the boys."
- She then turned to Skylar and Andy, reminding them, "You two, take good care of Bianca. Don't you bully her, understand?"
- The boys thumped their chests and promised confidently, "Of course! A brother must always look out for his sister!"
- Whitney chuckled softly, then headed downstairs to the kitchen.
- Southward House was well-equipped, with all sorts of kitchen tools readily available.
- She pulled out some fresh fruits and was ready to make juice for the kids.
- Little did she know that while everything seemed peaceful and joyful here, chaos had erupted in the main house.
- As soon as George, the butler, discovered that Bianca was missing, he immediately mobilized all the bodyguards and servants to search the grounds.
- Despite turning the entire mansion upside down, they couldn't find a single trace of Bianca.
- Everyone panicked. The whole estate was buzzing with an atmosphere of anxiety.
- George had no choice but to grind his teeth and report the situation to Shaun.
- Far away at the office, Shaun's expression turned ice-cold after he answered the call.
- Without bothering to scold anyone, he hung up and immediately rushed home.
- On the way, his expression was grim as he ordered, "Check all the surveillance cameras in the estate!"
- Although Bianca had mild autism, she was incredibly smart for her age.
- She had already learned how to avoid the house's cameras at such a young age.
- Bianca could disable the entire security system if she wanted to.
- Whenever she was upset and wanted to hide, she would do this.
- Today seemed to be no different.
- Shaun's phone received all the surveillance footage in less than five minutes.
- He immediately began reviewing the footage, the glow from his phone reflecting in his cold, dark eyes, which made his his expression appear even more sinister.
- Matthew Turner, his assistant, was in the front seat and felt the tense and suffocating pressure emanating from the car. His temples throbbed as he sensed trouble.
- Matthew floored the gas pedal, all the while silently praying that nothing had happened to Bianca.
- That girl was his boss's precious treasure.
- The gates of the estate swung open. Twenty minutes later, the black Bentley sped in.
- Before the car had even come to a complete stop, Shaun was already stepping out.
- Just as he was about to move, his steps halted. His gaze was fixed on his phone.
- In the corner of a camera feed from the south side of the estate, a small glimpse of a dress appeared.
- It was the same dress Bianca had worn that day.
- So, she went to Southward House?
- Shaun narrowed his eyes, shifting his gaze toward Southward House.
- Matthew got out of the car at this point. When he saw Shaun standing still, Matthew asked in confusion, "Boss, you—"
- Before he could finish his question, Shaun had already climbed back into the car.
- "Turn around. We're going to Southward House!"
- Matthew was dumbfounded. He was surprised but quickly returned to the car.
- A few minutes later, they pulled up to the entrance of Southward House.
- Draven's men hadn't arrived yet, and there were no guards stationed around.
- Shaun got out of the car. His strides were long and quick as he headed inside.
- He crossed the entryway and made his way to the living room with practiced ease, but it was empty.
- Frowning, he scanned the room and then called out, "Bianca!"
- The living room echoed with his voice, but there was no answer; only the lingering sound of his call reverberated in the air.
- However, he soon heard faint noises from upstairs.
- Driven by concern for his daughter, Shaun didn't hesitate and hurried upstairs, taking two steps at a time.
- He turned a corner and arrived at the second-floor hallway.
- After taking just two steps forward, he heard more noise coming from a room nearby.
- He paused and listened carefully. Shaun thought he heard Bianca's voice.
- Unable to determine if it was from that room, he acted on impulse and pushed the door open.
- "Bianca—"
- When the door opened, his voice died in his throat and shock filled his face.
- The room wasn't empty, but Bianca wasn't inside. It was Whitney!
- At this time, Whitney had her back to the door. She was in the middle of changing clothes.
- Earlier, while making juice for the kids, she had accidentally spilled some on her dress. Therefore, she had come upstairs to take a quick shower.
- She had just stepped out of the shower to get dressed. Whitney had just thrown on some lounge pants and hadn't yet put on a top.
- Her bare and fair back was completely exposed. Shaun took in the entire view.
- Her delicate shoulder blades were clearly visible.
- Shaun stood frozen in place.
- His sharp eyes lingered on those graceful shoulder blades for a moment, then trailed down her smooth skin, stopping at her slim waist.
- Shaun's breath caught in his throat as flashes of fiery images flooded his mind.
- Whitney was also stunned.
- She stood there for a good ten seconds before she snapped out of it.
- How could this scum just suddenly appear here?
- She let out a startled cry. Then, she immediately covered her front with one hand while grabbing a pillow from the bed and hurling it at him.
- "Close your eyes! What are you staring at?!"
- Shaun snapped out of his daze just in time, catching the pillow with ease.
- "Whitney!"
- He grunted her name through clenched teeth, his eyes dark with frustration. "What's wrong with you?"
- Whitney was both embarrassed and furious. She shot back, "I should be the one asking that! Why are you even here?"
- While still replaying the scene in his mind, Shaun's voice came out cold, "The entire estate belongs to me. Why shouldn't I be here?"
- Whitney clenched her teeth, reminding him word by word, "But right now, Southward House is where I'm staying! Even if you want to come in, you should knock. Does the great Mr. Marshall not understand basic manners?"
- Shaun scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain, "This is my property, and I don't need to knock wherever I go."
- Then, he continued, "I must admit, I have overlooked this. Well, I haven't yet gotten used to having someone else live here.
- "Is that so?"
- Whitney's anger flared again. She clenched her teeth to squeeze out her words.
- "Well, I hope Mr. Marshall gets used to it soon. Now get out!"
- She pulled her cover tighter as she spoke.
- Shaun had been ready to leave, but seeing how she was so eager to avoid him tugged at something in his mind, prompting him to let out a low laugh.
- "What are you covering up for? There's nothing about you that I haven't seen before."
- "You—" Whitney was fuming.
- Before she could snap back, Shaun had already turned and walked out, slamming the door behind him with a loud bang.
