Chapter 6 Fiesty princess

  • Alpha Dargan POV
  • My hands were quick in grabbing her before she hits the floor and slammed her hard against my chest. My lungs burnt as though it was on hot coal, my hands shook uncontrollably like power was going out of me and my throat tightened like I swallowed rocks. What was happening to me? Who was this woman?
  • Her eyes fluttered open lazily and when she looked up from my chest and our gaze met for the second time. “Ahhh!” she screamed and jerked away from me.
  • That fear the others had for me, disgust, and hatred shown brightly like a peaceful shore.
  • Lilith crept slowly beside me with her hand wrapped around my arm. She was going to make it to dinner and she was a possessive loyalist.
  • We made it to the dining table and soon the princesses were eating and getting merry while with my gaze I took my time undressing their emotions. The other head princess as she has been accorded that I got to know her name was princess Anabelle sat two chairs farther from the rest of the princesses and she was picking at her food.
  • Just like I've been thinking she looked distressed with thoughts and sad. Her eyes mirrored conflicts torn between two objectives. I'm the least person to care about the disaster waiting to befall anyone, but hers were glaring.
  • I stared at the meals placed in front of me. It has been years since I knew how to eat or drink. Countless times the food were thrown away, I don't touch them. There's no appetite or will to eat than to drain the blood of my enemies.
  • “Your training will commence later in the day. I'll see you in the fighting ring. I don't want any weak princesses.” I announced after they had finished their meal, most stared at me shocked.
  • They thought they came here to smile, look lavish, and eat my food. Silly princesses. They're going to see hell!
  • “Your time for preparation starts now.”
  • *********
  • I sat in my private study going through ancient books and writings.
  • “Enemies!”
  • The beasts pounded in my head. ‘Enemies!’ ‘Enemies!’ What were they talking about? What enemies? I don't trust the princesses and setting a fighting ring for them till their death was a ploy to see if anyone would chicken out and give away their plots.
  • “Fake!”
  • The beasts exclaimed growling angrily from the back of my head wanting to be let out.
  • “Enemy!”
  • “She's your downfall.”
  • Who was my downfall, what are they talking about? This must be something important the beasts haven't spoken in a while and when they do it's always something catastrophic.
  • So far none of the princesses looked the least afraid but something had me wondering. The head princess. Princess Anabelle. Why did I react so weirdly to her?
  • A knock at my study door was followed by, “Your majesty.”
  • “Make your way in,” I ordered, closing the book and straightened with knitted eyebrows awaiting the visitor.
  • A Guard walks in and before he would kneel I waved him off. “Go straight to the point!” I barked curtly.
  • “We caught a slave girl that stole.”
  • “Blood bath!” My eyes turned bloodlust.
  • I rose from the chair and with mighty steps pushed the study doors open heading to the courtroom. It's against the law to steal and not only that, stealing in my Castle.
  • The sight of the slave girl, she was whimpering her cheeks filled with dried up tear marks as she knelt on the floor. The princesses were present in the room but apart from princess Annabelle. Get your head out of her ass! I almost screamed.
  • “Why did you steal and what did you plan to do with it?”
  • “I didn't steal Alpha. Please, I'm innocent. I don't know how Ma'am Lilith's golden bracelets got into my skirt pocket.” The Chestnut servant girl defends herself as tears spill copiously from her eyes sliding to her cheek.
  • “You liar! How dare you try to spin this around. You were the last slave to leave my room chamber after cleaning it. Don't tell me my bracelet had legs and walked into your pocket.” Lilith raged. Her eyes grew dark but she controlled it. Since I've known her she wasn't the type to lie and make unnecessary problems but still, I need to interrogate as a king.
  • “Enough!”
  • I bent to the floor where the slave girl knelt. She shivered in fear as her fingers trembled at our close proximity.
  • “I will ask you for the last time. Why did you steal?”
  • “No… no. My Lord, I will never lie to you. I have no intention to steal. Please believe me.”
  • “How am I to believe that?!”
  • “It’s the truth Alpha.”
  • “Were you the last to leave her room?”
  • “Y...es yes.” she stutters, shaking her head negatively.
  • “Hunter!”
  • Hunter was the guard in charge of torture, especially the blood bath. He sprang forth with a swift stride from the hidden corner he stood.
  • “Get the truth out of her.”
  • “No! No! Please don't kill me.” she cried out as her screams bounced high around the room. The slave was roughly dragged to the floor and the door was slammed shut. I turned to face Lilith. “I’m sorry you have to experience this. I'll get the royal treasury to supply you with more golds. You can take as many as you want.”
  • Her eyes lit up in admiration, lips pursed to form a thin smile as she bats her lovely lashes at me. “Thanks, your majesty...”
  • “Dargan!”
  • The castle door was banged open by a pissed Princess Annabelle who ran into the courtroom. “She didn't steal the bangle!” She exclaims.
  • “Then who did? You can't walk in here and oppose the Alpha's decision princess.” There was an undertone of mockery in Lilith's response.
  • “Never speak to me unless you're asked to. I'll make sure you get thousands of Bracelets you just name it but the Alpha has to stop the torture. She's bleeding and too young to bear such pain.” Annabelle says and I was taken aback for a split second. Why would she care about a slave girl? It was really rare for royalty to stick out for commoners. Everyone was selfish, no one cared about the other.
  • “Thieves are not given the chance to be bailed. So therefore she has to undergo the blood bathe and only then can she be pardoned.” I said and thought it was going to end but she came in front of me with folded arms akimbo.
  • “You are no God! How dare you treat someone's life like some worthless rag? Get her off that brutality now!” She yelled and then I lost it.
  • In a fleet of rage, my hands were wrapped around her throat. “How dare you defy my orders?! For that reason, you'll take her place. Guards!”
  • “Yes, Alpha.” The guards answered.
  • “Send her over to the ice room.”
  • “What!” she exclaimed in shock.
