Chapter 4 Monster

• Lewis had just finished his sentence when several all-black, wolf-looking monsters slowly came out of the forest. Each of them was approximately one meter in length and had an entirely black body. Their heads were approximately 20 centimeters in size and held a pair of deep eyes that shone with a cold light. They had four fangs around ten centimeters in size and looking at it sent chills down his back. The claws on their four limbs were about three centimeters long and looked extremely sharp.
• If we get caught by them, then… He went numb with fear. Will we die here? Moreover, as food for these strange beasts?
• “L-L-Lewis… W-W-W-What is that? W-W-We…” Suzy had finished putting on her clothes. For some reason, her body was trembling uncontrollably as she held onto his right arm tightly.
• “Let go!” His expression changed slightly. This Suzy… She is holding on to my arm so tightly… Is she looking for death? My left arm is useless right now, so only my right arm can move. So, why is she grabbing on to my right arm so tightly? Isn’t she completely restraining my movements?!
• “I-I’m scared… I w-won’t let go…” Her voice trembled and she couldn’t care less about anything else right now.
• At that moment, those strange monsters were only around ten meters away from them. With the sizes of those monsters, ten meters was an extremely dangerous distance. If they just sped up, they could easily reach the duo in no time.
• Lewis was sure that if he failed to pay attention, his neck would be torn apart by these monsters in an instant. “Suzy Bennett! F*cking let go of me if you don’t want to die! If you hold on to me, we will only die faster!”
• Those monsters were already positioning their bodies, preparing to charge over.
• “I-I-I won’t!” She held on even tighter when she heard him yelling at her.
• There’s no more time! One of the monsters lunged forward. The strong wind from the motion hit Lewis in the face from a distance away. Then, he immediately tackled Suzy and they fell, rolling toward the beach.
• Bam! That monster pounced and slammed into nothing but air.
• Roar! The black monster stood up, opened its mouth, and let out an angry roar in their direction. It was as if it had gotten angry because Lewis had evaded its attack by rolling away with Suzy in his arms.
• “Let go! Do you want to die?!” Lewis roared at Suzy again, staring down at the pale-faced girl who was pinned beneath him. She shuddered, then let go of his right arm. The moment his right arm was freed, he immediately grabbed the crowbar from where he had thrown it to the ground previously.
• At the same time, that black monster swiped its paw at his head. Without any hesitation, he swung the crowbar in his hand and slammed it against the claws of the black monster.
• Clang, clang… What he had not expected was the sound of metal crashing against each other, accompanied by a shower of sparks, where the steel crowbar made contact with the black monster’s claws.
• Roar! The monster roared deafeningly again when its claws were blocked.
• “Hmph!” He snorted coldly. Then, he immediately stood up, intending to take the initiative to attack the black monster. Right at that moment, he found that his right leg was caught by something. Unprepared, he fell forward to the ground. This stupid woman!
• Previously, she had let go of his right arm. However, when he fended off the attack from the black monster, she grabbed onto his pants instead. As a result… he fell to the ground. At that moment, the black monster swiped its claws at his head again. If those claws touched his head, he was sure that his head would be split open easily. Unfortunately, she was still holding on to his pants in a death grip.
• Right now, she had both eyes closed as she trembled on the ground. She had no idea that her actions were putting the two of them on the brink of death.
• “You want me dead?! You still have a long way to go!” Lewis roared in anger as his figure dodged to the right quickly.
• Slash! “Ah…” The claws of the black monster instantly tore open four bloody cuts down his left shoulder, making Lewis cry out in pain. At that moment, the black monster suddenly opened its bloody mouth and lunged at his neck. The crowbar in his right hand moved suddenly.
• Stab! The crowbar in his hand slipped through the black monster’s open mouth and ripped through its brains.
• “Uhh…” The black monster whimpered unwillingly, then slowly closed its eyes. When he saw that, he hurriedly got up from the ground. Sick of trying to get her to release him, he used his right hand and slapped at her hand. Even so, he was surprised to see that despite how hard he hit her, she clung to his pants and refused to let go.
• “Suzy, are you trying to get us both killed?! If you don’t want to die, then f*cking let go of me!” Lewis snarled at Suzy angrily.
• In front of them were four other similar black monsters. If Suzy continued to hold on to him like this, then… he was sure that they would die.
• “L-L-Lewis… I-I’m scared!” Suzy’s voice cried out shakily.
• “Hurry up and let go! Or else, we’re both going to die! Are you listening?!” he yelled again.
• This time, her hands shrunk back as if she was struck by lightning and she released him from her grip. It was just for a moment. Then, she tried to grab at him again. However, he avoided her and placed some distance between them. He picked up the ax on the other side, disregarding the wound on his left shoulder. Holding the ax in his right hand, he glared fiercely at the other black monsters in front of them.
• “Come on! Come if you want to die!” He pointed to the front with the ax in his hand as he glared viciously at the four black monsters before them.
• Grr… Roar… One of the black monsters glanced at the dead monster, then made a weird roaring sound before backing away slowly. When he saw the four monsters retreating, he heaved a sigh of relief. Good! At least they’re afraid of death!
• He stood there without moving for half an hour, staring intently at the direction the four monsters had left in. During that period, the four monsters came back thrice. After waiting for another 10 minutes or so, he could no longer hear anything coming from the forest. Only then did he relax slightly, releasing the tension in his body.
• “Ah…” he cried out in pain. His left arm had been broken. Now, his left shoulder was slashed open by the monster. The fiery pain shooting out from the wound was unbearable. Hearing his cry of pain, Suzy finally crawled up from the ground and stood up shakily.
• “L-Lewis! A-Are you okay?” Suzy asked in tears when she saw that half his body was dyed red with his blood.
• “We nearly died because of you! Do you even know that?!” Lewis roared angrily. How can I not be angry? If it wasn’t because she held onto my pants, I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground. If my reaction was any slower, I wouldn’t have gotten away with just a wounded shoulder! It would have been my brains splattered all over the ground by now!
